COLDPLAY’s CHRIS MARTIN has written the comeback single for his old mates EMBRACE, NME.COM can exclusively reveal.

Martin and Embrace’s Danny McNamara are old friends and played together back in 2000 before Coldplay’s monumental rise to fame. Chris has never forgotten how the group helped out in the early days and as a result has donated the song ‘Gravity’, which will be the first track to be lifted from Embrace’s long-delayed new album which is due on September 13.

Speaking about the song, Chris Martin said: "We’ve always loved Embraceand Danny is one of my best friends. When we wrote ‘Gravity’ we thought it sounded far too much like them for us, but not too much like them for them, so I asked Danny if he wanted the song and that was that."

‘Gravity’ is released on Independiente on August 30.
