I know we all have different styles and tastes, but to be honest I think the Pre-Parachutes songs are incredibly atmospherically dense. I think they capture profound melancholy as a state of mind quite well. That's why I love them so much.

What the hell, people ? I don't dislike Birds but it is nowhere near in quality to these early classics. Seems no one appreciates the Pre-Parachutes stuff any more, that is so sad (no pun intended)

Off-topic, but I can't belive that in 2009 the username "Coldplay" was still available on the Coldplaying forums :D

I have never seen Coldplay live, but have watched a lot of concert footage. My fav tour is the Twisted Logic Tour ! There shows were pretty lively and big but not yet too big (as I had a feeling they became with Viva). Excellent vocals by Chris, great atmosphere, outfits not too fancy, very genuine. Coldplay at their peak, imho :)

Has anyone heard back yet from the TODAY show ? Cause they said they would notify you about a week before if you were successful or not, which would mean possibly today...

Nice ! I browsed a little bit further in your blog posts, and I have to tell you that I SO AGREE ON WHAT YOU SAY ABOUT BEING SINGLE !!!!! It's true, you are always the odd one out and get disadvantaged etc. Society puts a strong pressure on even a twenty-something to be in a relationship. I'm so sick of it. I recently listened to Video Games by Lana Del Rey, and the lyric "They say that the world was made for two" struck me as being quite to the point. I wish to add to your examples the kind of pressure that can be put on you by work colleagues ! In my trade it is more common than not to put in extra work hours in evenings and weekends. I noticed that saying something like "sorry, my wife is gonna kill me if I'm not home early this evening" is a perfectly acceptable excuse to go home earlier. But when I wanna leave earlier and I would come up with something like "sorry, I wanna go home on time today because, well, I wanna have an evening for myself" everybody thinks I'm lazy. Implicitly you are expected to be able to always stay longer because well, "she doesn't have anyone waiting for her at home anyway" right ?! Do I not have equal rights to leisures and free time in life because I'm not married ???? Sick of that too. Anyway, sorry for going off-topic :D

Yes, good to hear indeed ! These past days have been awful for me too. So much stress and pressure from all sides....but under this pressure, under this weight, we are diamonds - taking shape ! :D Let me think of a new riddle :D

Huh ? I wasn't saying there should be either written or visual contests, I was just commenting on the fact that the majority of contests both by Coldplaying and Coldplay imho seem to be art-related rather than anything else, and that it made me personally sad to see the poem contest cut short this way because I know I'm crap at art. And yes I know it was open for a week and I did submit something, not sure what you mean there. Just wish it would have lasted longer, that's all. And yeah, congrats @Suhit !!! :D Well done !!!

Think it's a pity that the rules got changed. For once I saw there was a contest in a field which I can even think about competing in, poetry. Now it's artworks again, like GhostStoryDay and Coldplay's recent T-shirt contest. As someone who is not the visual type I'm rather sad about this change of mind by the organizers :(

Well, Coldplay DID become more commercial through the years. That's not an opinion, it's a fact. And there is plenty of evidence supporting that fact. When you say it's bad that Coldplay has become more commercial over the years, that's an opinion. Glad to be of help. :)
