  1. Oh come on guys. Trouble in town is not that long you can't spell it out. The discussion on the acronym is slowly getting as irritating as the discussion about Daddy. Idk about you but when I see Daddy I think of a child calling his father and when I see Trouble in Town I think of trouble in town. Unnecessary drama
  2. But Orphans is on Sunset...
  3. This must be a software bug, considering the total length of the album.
  4. Are you still in that lawsuit ? This song certainly is tear-inducing, at times it almost makes me cry too. The instrumental, the atmospheric beginning, some of the lyrics...so powerful.
  5. Welcome back ! The strings are from John Metcalfe apparently. He also arranged the strings for ALIENS and Hypnotised. He is brilliant !
  6. Interesting that you say that cause I've heard this theory before, but for Viva. That Viva would represent all stages of life in order (LiT - birth, childhood, youth, love, adulthood, death). But I think it's quite a stretch and doesn't fit perfectly. About Everyday Life, I feel like it really is supposed to represent one day (an "everyday") from the start to its end and back to the start of the next day (The Album basically ends with "First light, throw my arms open wide").
  7. Much as I love getting new music, I hope not. I want the album to listen to as a whole before we know each and every song individually.
  8. This song has grown on me so fast ! Kept playing it today non-stop. Yes, the ending may not be the greatest one Coldplay has ever done but it's still a masterpiece. As is Arabesque. I'm so hyped for this album right now !
  9. Welcome to Coldplaying !
  10. Wow. Apart from the cursed S-word all the other influences/collabs sound intriguing ! I think this album is gonna be a good one.
  11. I personally always felt the perfect closer to X&Y was Twisted Logic. Often I end listening to the album there and skip Til Kingdom Come :D
  12. Now we're dying to know who that person is :D
  13. "...crumble and fall, crumble and fall like an animaaaaAAAHH - "
  14. I always have to look up your words haha Futhorc seem to be a kind of ancient runes. Runes are signs encoding language, like a modern-day font. Coldplay are known for using the signature font Albertus Medium for their first couple of albums.
  15. I have to politely disagree. I feel the songs on AROBTTH and X&Y and their B-sides are sonically different enough from one another not to be repetition. There is 1.000.000 more permutations of guitar/piano alt rock the guys could have gone for. Not saying every album should have been like that, but I could and would definitely listen to many more albums that would have taken the early Coldplay sound further. This post was made 1,5 weeks ago, but with what we know NOW I'd say yes, I'm pretty positive it picks up where Viva left off - just flavored with their (Chris's) new attitude to life and spirituality and their world music influences :)
  16. That was my big fear before AHFOD and it ended up being justified, so I can totally understand what you're feeling. Personally I think I'll like this album, though. Love Arabesque and Everyday Life is pretty decent too.
  17. I didn't get that many X&Y vibes from it to be honest, but it is my second favourite song off this record of the three we know so far ! I just miss the perfectionism that early Coldplay had. Can't help but feeling that ten, twelve years ago they wouldn't have put out a song with a not-so-perfect ending like that. The fact that the second verse is ridiculously short also makes it feel as if there is a little off with it. These are just little missteps that would not have made it on a record back then. Nowadays a lot of the songs seem less "perfectionized", unfortunately.
  18. Chris and Jonny were the nucleus around which the band Coldplay formed. wherewithal
  19. Check out Misty Buckley's amazing guitar straps and piano and set designs for this era: https://www.instagram.com/misty.buckley/?hl=de
  20. Check out Misty Buckley's photos of the guitar straps (I love the lyrics written on them !) and other art made for this era: https://www.instagram.com/misty.buckley/?hl=de
  21. OK, guess my preliminary album ranking based on the expected sound of EL is: 1. AROBTTH / X&Y 2. Parachutes 3. Viva 4. Everyday Life 5. GS 6. AHFOD 7. MX
  22. A lot of catching up to do on this thread. That is my hope as well Thought the same upon first listening to it ! And for the record, I don't think this song, dreamy and quiet as it is, needed a massive buildup or climax. I just wished it had a more memorable ending, e.g. a fadeout with some distorted guitar or wistful strings etc
