  1. West Side Story (Leonard Bernstein) - America
  2. Thanks a lot ! I did a quick browse (will come back to it later when I have more time) and I noticed there were indeed many covers or live recordings I'd never heard of ! A true treasure trove for Oldplayers
  3. These songs confuse me too all the time. I only know that I like The World Turned Upside Down (the one that begins with "X and Y...")
  4. Frank Zappa - St Alphonso's Pancake Breakfast
  5. Pink Floyd - Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast
  6. Nelly Furtado - All good things come to an end
  7. That sounds awesome ! I have all the old songs already, I believe, but I don't have too many live versions or even covers of other songs done by Coldplay during concerts. I would love to browse that account, do you have the credentials ? :D
  8. When I started this discussion, I said I'm fine with relocating it to another thread (something like "Coldplay Politiks/politics") if necessary. Don't call a political discussion garbage. First off, it was a actually discussion related to Coldplay's affiliations but never mind. Your last sentence reads to me like you're implying a band (be it the biggest of all time, I don't care) releasing an album is more important than these matters ? I know this particular thread is for the new album and we should discuss it here, and that this is the Coldplay forum, but...in the real world do you know how important it is that AHFOD is gonna be released ? 99,999 % of the people on this planet don't give a damn about it. That's how important it is. These things that you call garbage, on the other hand, impact nearly every inhabitant on this planet. Don't call a political discussion garbage.
  9. I know this is a response to nvdmm, but let me still say something. I know it is the system itself and that you cannot blame anything entirely on an individual. But Obama, Biden and so on are parts of this system. I agree with you on Obama's efforts concerning interior policies. However, it just appears to me that in terms of foreign policy, not a lot changes between different presidents. One war ends, another starts. One president's warfare is bombs, the next one replaces them with drones. One of them establishes a worldwide system of cyber espionage, the next one keeps using it. Obama's campaign slogan was "Change", but where has it gone to, that "Change" ?? Anyway, to keep it on topic, as I said before I've just grown wary of Coldplay's more recent "affiliations", since I see a fundamental contradiction between their apparent love for peace and making the world better (that they still have, hopefully) and them.

  11. Nah I was actually wondering if Oldplayers are the opposite, less conservative (I mean conservative as a political term here, not to be confused with being musically conservative), more "free-spirited", peace-loving and anti-establishment (for to be honest, my comment on the LP7 thread was in that direction, I don't know if you've seen it :)) But maybe the whole thing was just coincidence.
  12. I thought one of them was called "Your World turns upside down" ?

  14. I hope that before the train leaves, on a platform you're gonna stand and say: Got to get that message home ! :D
  15. Wow, you have been on the forum since shortly after the release of AROBTTH ! You must be one of the most ancient active members :D
  16. Nice list, thanks !
  17. Clocks 7 Fix You 13 ---- DAAHHF 9 Violet Hill 11
  18. Correct ! Your turn ! :)
  19. Vashti Bunyan - Some things just stick in your mind Album
  20. Vashti Bunyan - Find My Heart Again
  21. I doubt they will come off the sugar-pop train anytime soon, they are so happy about what they're doing and feel this is the best thing they have ever done. As for Thom Yorke, if I remember correctly he despises Coldplay and completely ditched Chris when they crossed their paths once...
  22. I have a question for you. When I posted this political comment in the LP7 thread some hours ago, I couldn't help noticing that all three members who liked it were Oldplayers. That made me wonder, might there also be an implicit, very subtle political side to being an Oldplayer ? I have never thought about it that way, to be honest...
  23. Aaaaah, look at all the lonely people !
  24. Funny, that line made me cringe too when i heard it. Rumi's birthplace may have been in what is today Afghanistan, but he was a Persian poet/mystic (I've never ever heard someone call him otherwise). And I believe knowing Obama and Biden personally makes Chris overlook their political actions...yes, they may be nice individuals to hang out with but you have to look to their policies to see their other, often ugly faces. :(
