  1. It's a good pop song in general, but i agree it's not a good Coldplay song. I don't think it sounds anything like pokerface. (And I have to admit Bad Romance and Telephone are guity pleasures for me sometimes....)
  2. A Rush Of Blood To The Head vs. Garands (Young the Giant)
  3. Haha, yeah. I believe Talk is 10000x better than its melody's origin, though. Talk vs. Garands (Young The Giant)
  4. First you need to tear down his headphones playing Katy Perry, Ariana Grande and 1D :D
  5. Oh no. The somewhat pompous, majestic instrumental sound of Paradise made it stand out to me from all other songs at that time in the radio. It was in combination with Paradise that I heard the name "Coldplay" for the first time. Also, that was a rather special time in my life. So I'm very attached to Paradise.
  6. in evenings, as dusk begins to fall: Parachutes in the middle of the night: Ghost Stories, especially Midnight The other Coldplay-albums are not time-of-day sensitive to me.
  7. I have a strong emotional connection to hearing Paradise....nooooooooooo
  8. Talk vs. Computerliebe (Kraftwerk)
  9. NOOOOO you voted for CB last round, I was hoping you vote for CB this round too ! I did !
  10. You listed some very valid reasons for their changes there. A little more insecurity would do them well, song-wise, I believe. It could really be there position in life. It makes me wonder whether I would be as melancholic as today by the time I am 38. I think I would (yeah, I'm not a multimillion rockstar but still, I believe I would). The weird thing is that actually Chris's marital split could have made him turn to melancholic alt rock again, but no, it made him go to sugary electropop and the need to probably write lots more "Oh-we-are-all-so-blessed-and-happy" songs. But I wish I could be as hopeful as you are, too. Look at all this footage from earlier and then look at them now...they are so different from what they used to be. Someone wrote somewhere that he believes Coldplay has lost its soul. Unfortunately, I believe this person is right.
  11. Hm. I just listened to the original and I must say I'm pretty certain I've never heard it before (other than the Coldplay version during the Parachutes Era). What's more, I don't hear any similarities between the two songs. Are you sure they have the same chord progression ? I guess it's more the guitar sound than the melody of I Ran Away that sounds familiar to me...
  12. I hate the MX hairstyle. I think Chris's best hairstyle was during 2004/2005. Yu can see it in these photos + in my avatar picture.
  13. Great thread ! There's actually a lot of thing about Coldplay I don't like. (in addition to many things that I love, of course). - Coldplay going pop - Coldplay dropping their melancholy and insecurity themes in favor of happiness and being upbeat - Chris running after Hollywood actresses - the scratchiness of Chris's voice in GS - the Love buttons ...to be continued soon
  14. In the RTs I found exactly what I mentioned earlier about the poem recital...
  15. I want other songs to be eliminated just as much as Reign Of Love, but I want Viva and Prospekt's March/Poppyfields to be on the safe side so I vote for Reign of Love.
  16. I think that (unfortunately...) since it fits the apparent vibe of AHFOD very well, it will be. There has been an ambguous response to the question on Twitter by Rik.
  17. To be honest, I don't think so. In all of Coldplay discography, the one song called like the album itself was a single just in one case, and that was Viva (it was even just half of the title in Viva, to be fair). I think A Head Full Of Dreams will be a regular album track.
  18. I'm sure it isn't. Coldplay wouldn't fly to India to be in some singer's music video sampling Paradise...
  19. Amazing Day is a very uninspired and boring title, yes. Wish they had at least gone for less cheesiness in the song title than in the song itself, but....nope.
  20. Midnight 4 BS 3 CB 2 WS 1 Lost! 1 UWTB 1 The round is over ! And it is Midnight who gets eliminated by a small margin of one vote and now it bleeds from thorns - but leave a light on, will ya ? Next round: Brothers and Sisters Shiver Yellow Trouble Don't Panic In My Place The Scientist Clocks God Put A Smile Upon Your Face Speed of Sound Fix You Talk What If White Shadows Violet Hill Viva La Vida Lovers in Japan Lost! Life in Technicolor ii Strawberry Swing Paradise Charlie Brown Up with the Birds I vote for Charlie Brown !

  22. I want to tell you something, fellow Coldplayers. Whenever I hear the guitar sound in I Ran Away, I get this odd feeling as if I've heard that song a long, long time ago. And I have no idea why I get this feeling. As if it reminds me of something but I have no idea what. But it is highly improbable for me to have heard the song many years ago. I guess it is just my brain playing tricks on me, like a Deja-vu phenomenon. Curiously, it is the only Coldplay song that makes me feel like this. Anyone ever experienced something similar ??
