Violet Hill at Jimmy Kimmel (Or BBC headquarters?) if my Coldplay senses are tingling.

Really? I think it's quite possibly one of their greatest songs (Top 5 even) When you talk to Coldplay detractors there's in my experience, two songs they admit to liking. See You Soon and Violet Hill. If any tries to claim Chris is a bad lyricist, I point them to this song. I think the band we're trying to achieve a very intimate atmosphere on the AROBTTH tour. Can't believe I missed out on it.

ELIMINATION #4: VIVA LA VIDA OR DEATH AND ALL HIS FRIENDS
I switch from LiJ to life in technicolour to save Glass Of Water. Voting it out when stuff like LiJ and Strawberry Swing is still there, come on now!

I don't blame you... It's one of those "let's pretend it never happened" moments. The look of mortification on Jonny's face in the background is tragically funny :( :laugh3:

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
To you and I perhaps, but to someone who's not as familiar it's extremely similar to the MX outfits. Almost identical (especially at iHeartRadio)

Radiohead v Coldplay
On Radiohead: Radiohead are an absolutely amazing talent. The complexity and sheer genius of OK Computer, Kid A and Amnesiac far surpass ANY band of the last 30 years. With that being said, I wouldn't exactly call myself a Radiohead fan. I have to be in a certain mood to appreciate them as listening to Street Spirit for example, is a complete head wrecker. Listening to them for any significant period of time has got me down in the past (A testament to the power of their music) Part of the reason I love Coldplay is probably because they're "Radiohead-Lite" so to speak. Coldplay still pack an emotional punch, yet it's easier to digest and the general ideology of Coldplay is melancholic for sure, but the end message is one of optimism. Radiohead's ideology is pure despair. Many have used this as a criticism of Coldplay in the past but I'm of the belief that it's one of Coldplay's greatest assets. They've taken the formula of Radiohead and added a strong pop sensibility, coupled with their own lovable spin. Coldplay will always be the foremost in my heart. On AHFOD: Still waiting :(

Not really. I too don't think that VLV is Oldplay (More like an intermediary but it seems the last album people actually like so that's why it's here) but I wouldn't categorize them in 3's if I'm being honest. The first 3 are definitely a trilogy but the last 3 are wildly different from each other. The only similar trend is the declining quality and pop elements that seem to rear their heads more and more as time goes on. I think you'll find in this thread the overwhelming consensus have fears for LP7 based on what we've seen so far, Amazing Day and a collaboration with Ariana Grande. To me, that tells you all you need to know about Coldplay's current direction and as a consequence the sound of LP7.

Lit ii Have to agree the vocals aren't the best.

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
Not really, I think that's actually very generous of Chris considering the astronomical difference there is in some bands in regards to song royalties for songwriters and non songwriters.

Or "It's better than MX but not quite as good as X&Y" as some people seem to expect him to say here :laugh3:
