I don't understand where they are going with the paint to be honest. I'm picturing the video as a re-hash of the ETIAW video, just set in a fort with many excited Indian folk. It seems way to derivative of MX in my opinion, even the patches on Chris's jacket. I'd buckle up for a repeat of the last two era's. Even "A Head Full Of Dreams" is painfully derivative of "A Sky Full Of Stars"

They already did that. The song is called Strawberry Swing. To me when Chris says "our attempt to make the perfect happy song" he really means "our attempt to make a commercially successful pop tune that will go to number 1 and play on the radio so much everyone ends up detesting it" :mean:

It doesn't seem like it now, but it's probably best to hear the official recording over a terrible quality recording off an iPhone. it can't be far off so patience seems the order of the day.

Yeah, looking at the colour scheme it does seem like it's going to be the pure pop record we have been expecting, so us Oldplayer's do have a slight cause for concern. With that being said though, you can't pre-judge an entire album on a few pictures. I'm going to stay enthusiastic until we hear something. You can certainly blame the lads for the declining quality since VLVODAAHF. It's your duty as a fan to criticize, not just lap up any old thing they release. Especially when it's a band of an exceptional quality like Coldplay.

Still reeling over all this news. Complete radio silence, to the point we were questioning if the gears were even in motion and then in one evening it all starts pouring out. Funny that.

Don't Coldplay usually release the the single on their youtube channel before the video is released? The single seems to be hurtling towards us at High Speed. Maybe before iHeart?

I feel one song (probably the first single) will have an Indian vibe and aesthetic to it. I can't really see them sustaining this for an entire album, so maybe it'll be a Viva-type record where all the songs will sound different? I can definitely see them experimenting with different sounds/instruments from all over the world.

Seems very reminiscent of MX with the rainbow colours and the paint. Not sure how I feel about this, what happened to changing styles every album?

The smaller patch on the top with the yellow and purple spirals would be an awesome theme for the artwork. The fort looks like an amazing setting for a new music video as well! Finally something to be really excited about! :smug: Just judging by the location, I hope it won't be Princess of China (India) pt 2 feat Rihanna :angry: (Sarcasm)

Yeah, The band come from a generation that wouldn't be as familiar with social media, I guess the reason we don't see them tweeting often is because they simply don't have an interest in it. Even during eras where they gave updates I would hazard a guess they didn't seek to do it on their own initiative, rather a PR/Marketing person thought it would generate hype for the album. Missed marketing opportunity in my opinion as on the rare occasion Chris actually does something social media related (Justin Bieber single comes to mind) It creates quite a stir in and out of the fandom.
