  1. The lyrics in this album are nothing short of mystical. Happy birthday Parachutes :parachutes:

A A: you were an island and I passed you by, and you were an island to discover B: Before my head explodes, before my head starts to ring.
  3. I concur. Along with In my Place, Clocks, VLV and Strawberry Swing?

*Bump* B A:When I counted up my demons. Saw there was one for every day. B:My nerves are poles, that unfroze.
  5. This. It's all about how the lush melodies work in tandem with Chris's voice.
  6. I have made the one republic, maroon 5 point before and I agree with you more or less but.... I don't necessarily agree with your "beefing up" point. I think we would like to hear a "darker" sound so to speak, but a sound which is still Coldplay. An example being Violet Hill or Politik. Those songs aren't hard or beefed up by any stretch of the imagination, they just pack an emotional punch and have energy surging through them, bellicose. There's no reason why this album can't satisfy all criteria. Especially since it's the bands final LP. Say, for example the new album has 10 tracks. It could take the following structure: 1. Dark piano opener (Politik) 2. Another Piano ballad, something like 42 3. Acoustic guitar song 4. An in my place, Strawberry swing type song where we get to hear Jonny's unleashed guitar in all its glory 5. Anthemic Song (ETIAW) 6. A speed of sound, X&Y like song 7. Another song featuring Chris's acoustic 8. Experimental Song 9. The dreaded EDM song here? :embarrassed: 10. Eno/ John Hopkins ambient closer. (The escapist)
  7. We could get something in the middle. Parachutes style. Somber music with happy lyrics :)
  8. Mine today is Everything's not lost (That includes Life is for living you know! Two songs for the price of one :laugh3:) Subject to change though.
  9. Two songs I absolutely adore. Would not mind something like that at all. DLIBYH is one of Coldplay's most underrated songs.
  10. So lads and lasses as we eagerly await the Coldplay camp to break their silence, what would you like to hear from the first single? If it indeed reaches us this year. Anthemic song? something similar to Every teardrop? Piano Ballad? Something else entirely? For me, I'd love to hear Chris's acoustic guitar and soaring falsetto complimented well with some ambient guitar playing from Jonny. Something similar to Don't Panic, stripped back and simple without all the bells and whistles.
  11. See you soon vs Sing (To me) (Blur)
  12. 6/10 If it came on the Radio I wouldn't turn it off, but it wouldn't be my taste. It's something you could dance too but I definitely wouldn't seek it out. Drums sound pretty good. [video=youtube;YwJqUbd1vzs] Been listening to this band from France recently. Love this song. They have nailed the Coldplay sound and this is getting me through the wait for AHFoD. "Coldplay Sounding" bands usually annoy because they come off as contrived and as bad imitations, but this band have really nailed it.
  13. I want it to be political, but in a vague sense. A-la Politik and Violet Hill. I'd love if they strived for a darker sound, but in that quintessential Coldplay way where the music is melancholic and atmospheric but the lyrics are hopeful and buoyant. I think this would fit in well with the title as our protagonist (The narrator in a conceptual way) is faced with the dark realities of the world yet still marvels at its beauty ("We live in a beautiful world, yeah we do, yeah we do") and has a head full of dreams as to what a utopian world could look like. In this way the first half of the album could be dark and lamentfull and the last part a "new dawn" so to speak where the songs adopt a cheerful and hopeful tone, Mylo Xyloto-esque. However, as Chris said that AHFOD is the day to GS night and that the music will be "something to move your feet to" I'd imagine it will be about living in the moment, enjoying oneself and happiness. All very vague and cliche in a way but still has substance.
  14. Chris is involved with Tidal isn't he? maybe we will see a release on that.
  15. I hope to hear something this year, even if it's only a single. The silence is a only good thing though, perhaps they're going for an art rock album similar to VLV where every song sounds different? Now that's something I'd like to see.
  16. Are we hoping for an October release date, similar to MX? or is that too enthusiastic? Considering all of Coldplay's other releases have been summer releases would this be a fair surmise? If so we'll be getting some news very, very soon. Whether that will be a single or something else. We'll hardly be waiting until next summer will we? :o
  17. Oh yes, I'd say that's a fair assumption at this point but GS reminded me a lot of Parachutes in certain places, so I hope AHFoD will remind me of ARRoBTH in places too. Hopefully if they go down the route of using synthesizers again it will sound more like X&Y rather than MX. Of course production always plays a role too.
  18. I'd imagine the artwork will reveal a lot stylistically about the album. I.e you'll be able to tell by looking at it whether they're going the pop route again or if it's going to be more of an alt rock album.
  19. Wrong. Everything sounds like a bad imitation of Coldplay.
  20. I'm a big Tears for Fears fan. 80's revival is experimentation I could totally get behind. Just for one or two tracks and not the whole album. I also wouldn't mind seeing eno/jon hopkins style tracks for the opening and the end. Coldplay have always has strong openers and the Escapist is up there with the likes of Don't Panic and Politik, Really adds to VLV.
  21. Amsterdam 2 Don't Panic 18 Politik 9 Daylight 11
  22. Yeah, really enjoyed Noel's album this year. The man knows how to write for a modern audience yet still crank out memorable and great rock tunes. Even after all these years he's still up there with the likes of Chris and Thom Yorke as the U.K's finest songwriters. As far as that song goes, It's very generic and "safe" so to speak. Sounds like most stuff you hear from chart bands now. Very formulaic and not very memorable. I think Coldplay can do better, even in a pop music sense. MX is one of the better pop albums released in the last few years. It has something to say for itself not just following the formula
  23. I was always reluctant to the idea of getting a tattoo because I think I might end up regretting it in the future. But, some of the lovely tattoos in this thread have been making me ponder getting a Coldplay inspired tattoo. I thought of maybe getting the Parachutes Globe tattooed but I'd be really paranoid of it not being done right. Not to mention how its sort of derivative. I think people have the right idea of getting their favourite lyrics tattooed as its sort of enigmatic and esoteric.
  24. I enjoyed Miracles very much, so another song is just another song for the fans. In my opinion it might have been written for a film but it's still a stand alone creation and can be interpreted any way the listener wants. A complete soundtrack though? I don't think its something a band would be interested in because your restricted in how creative you can be as you have to follow the same general themes and atmosphere of the film. You wouldn't know with Chris though so it may happen. I don't really care once we get quality Coldplay.
  25. Yes. I couldn't have summed it up better myself.
