The Adversary

A part of me wants the album cover to be what we are used to with a single, central image against a chromatic background for both sentimental reasons and a sense of unity or linkage with the other albums ("The end of something") But another part of me wants them to go for something completely different. Only time will tell.

Hope you can win them my friend. Roll on September 26th :) If Coldplay play new material you can tell us how it sounds live :D

I haven't I'm ashamed to say despite being a major fan for years. A mixture of circumstance (Coldplay not playing Ireland since the Viva Tour) and poor planning have prevented me on a few occasions. It's really a dream of mine to see them live and I plan on making good my transgression on the next tour by seeing them a few times. I just hope it won't be like the 2012 tour where it was hit and miss trying to get tickets.

I'd be eternally grateful if someone had a spare xyloband for me. Long shot, I know but no harm getting my name down :mx:

Honestly if that were to be true it'd be the nail in the coffin for Coldplay's image and legacy.

I agree. I take all the rumors with a pinch of salt but it's always fun to speculate while we wait :)

Yeah, I'd happily travel to England to see them if all else fails but a Dublin gig is a few years overdue. I saw Noely G in the 3 arena in March and would love to see Coldplay in that venue as opposed to Croke Park.

Yeah, "about to be released" sounds like before November and the fact that he said "project" and not "content" signifies it'll be the album and not just a single. Maybe we'll get AHFOD a lot sooner than we thought.

I agree, It seems chart positions and Itunes sales are taking precedent over making meaning and memorable rock songs. With that said though, we haven't heard anything yet and despite the signs going one way so far, I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt for now. With the producers on board I would say it's almost impossible that we'll get AROBTTH part 2 but that was only really a pipe dream anyway. I still have faith we can get a record like VLV.

I wonder if we'll get many acoustic tracks on the album. I think the idea of a pop-oriented vibe doesn't necessarily mean over-produced and bland like everyone suspects. Uplifting and high spirited acoustic tracks could work really well. An example is the stripped down Strawberry Swing, simple yet effective. Definitely something you can "shuffle your feet to" [video=youtube;XqafijMtRas]

I'm a bit disappointed really but it was to be expected. Where we go from here is anyone's guess really. Are we going to get an MX type record or something else entirely.
