Hymn for the Weekend
Not sure if anyone has answered this, but how is Beyonces voice used in the live shows? Or rather how is this song done live? Does another singer do her part?

Up&Up To Become The Next Single From A Head Full of Dreams
I agree with myl_oxyl_oto. I'm not a fan of the edit at all. They took one of, if not the best song on the album and butchered it with sloppy cuts. It's a shame that people first listening to this song on the radio won't hear the full beauty of it.

Coldplay Song Mashup
Alright guys, just thought of this idea. Please let me know if it's been done elsewhere already so I'm not copying or anything. Anyways, the idea of this post/game is to create an album with your own meaning/theme using only and any Coldplay songs drawn from any album, single, b-side etc. It can be as long as you want it to be, but it would be preferable to make it typical album length (6-12 songs). Maybe explain what each song means and perhaps why you placed it where you did...Or have us Coldplayers guess what it could mean. It doesn't have to be personal, perhaps you came up with a fictional story where each song pertained to something in the story. I'll give my personal example (but again, yours doesn't have to be personal): How You See The World ("Are you missing something? Looking for something?" As a teenager, questioning myself and my actions constantly. The biggest question and uncertainty for me was my sexuality. This song represents my questioning period) Square One (Starting to realize that it's okay to be who I am "You just want somebody listening to what you say, it doesn't matter who you are") Life is for Living (My parents are homophobic and this song is more addressed to them. "Now I never meant to do you wrong. That's what I came here to say" followed by "But, life is for living. We all know, And I don't want to live it alone.") Proof (My first boyfriend, to me, was all the proof I needed to be completely comfortable with who I am. I was in light and dark. Uncertainty. His "bright spark" came into my life, "and then (just) light" (knowledge of self) in my life. Us Against The World (For much of our relationship, it did feel the world was against us, especially because of my parents, no matter what we'd stick by each other) A Rush of Blood to the Head (A lot of bad things happened in his life that made me want to strike out against whatever had ever hurt him in the past. This song is me saying to him the extent I would go to right the many wrongs in his life." Talk (First Version) "This is the less-known version of the song Talk, and imo better than Talk. Anyways, I connect with this song because he had started growing distant and more difficult to talk to. He had started to cut his communication with me slowly and I reach out to the stars and say "I tried but I can't get through. I'm trying to get to you. But you're difficult to reach. Won't you talk to me." A Message (Communication has fettered and he has moved, making it difficult to get that message home. I wanted to "get that message home" to him that I wanted him to "please come home". I won't take it back, I wouldn't say I don't mean it. Because I did sincerely mean it. Unfortunately, I've still "got to get that message home" and I never do.) Up With The Birds (The spark is trying to come back, "It's a spark in a sea of gray", I desire to go to where he moved to to get him back. I would have to go to where he lives, "where they don't know my name", to see him again.) Prospekt's March/Poppyfields (This sort of war between distance and being actually able to go to him. I couldn't go because of my parents and their hold over me. Unfortunately, "here I lie on my own in a separate sky") Everglow (I think this ones a bit more obvious, but his presence in my life left an "everglow", his affect on my life forever, something that can and will never change.) Up&Up (I loved this as an ending for AHFOD and I'd love to end mine with it. It's simply that hopeful song that things look up after such an emotional experience and that good things come our way. We can overcome these negative things simply by the attitude we hold of them). Anyways, very personal, but that's everything from my contribution. Again, yours doesn't have to be as long or personal. Simply state Coldplay songs you'd like in one album and why:)

My Coldplay-Influenced Album "Your Love Means Everything", What do you think?
I'm not copying their songs, kinda just giving a...sketch of what the songs are like as compared to Coldplay songs. They certainly are inspired by them, but one must realize that I am not them nor am I an impersonator. I'm not Da Vinci either :P

Kaleidoscope
Omgosh! This is definitely Kaleidoscope. It has to be! It sounds so much like it. ("We'll should rehearse that" he says at the end. Sounds like we have uncovered a conspiracy)

Amazing Day
Here's a comment on the song. Many people when the song was first introduced thought that at the end Chris says "And I asked every book, poetry, and chime, can there be breaks in the chaos of times", all you have to do is look at covers (including The Racer's) to find the misheard lyric. The actual lyric goes "and I asked Can the birds in poetry chime? Can there be breaks in the chaos sometimes?" For me, I actually like the misheard lyric better. Lol. What do you think?

Why Coldplay?
Agreed on both of these. That does not, however, invalidate them as good songs I don't think. I like them both, especially Army of One :D

The epic COLDPLAY vs. COLDPLAY game - everything against everything

Let's Write a Story!
Tim said to Chris, "Why are you feeling down?" "Well, you know Tim, I just can't stand the name of my band." "What is it Chris?" "Well, um, it's..." "Come on, spit it out" "It's..um..Starfish" -abrupt laughter- oh my god almighty, bloody hell mate, you got a band name that'll put you in Her Majesty's Pleasure. Have you lost the plot? "I..." "Oh no worries Chris, I'm only pulling your leg. I mean you seriously will be snookered if you go around callin yourself that. You need a good name...I know, I don't want mine anymore, you can have it" "What is it?" "The Coldplay" "The Coldplay... It does have a good bit of a ring to it dudnit?.. Well except the 'the'..." After ruling out "Hot Plate" and "The Chris Martin Band", the boys found their name.

Coldplay songs - Minus and Plus (Game)
Swallowed In The Sea + Has a lot of emotional meaning to my life and how it applied to people in my past. + Vocals are sung simply yet sweetly, the instrumental, I feel, comfortably coincides with the vocals nicely. - One of my favorites of theirs, so really my complaint is that it ends lol O (Fly On)

The epic COLDPLAY vs. COLDPLAY game - everything against everything
At the piano. He's born to play music, not dance :p Moses Martin in O (Don't ever let go) or Moses in Up&Up ending (Believe in love)

X Marks The Spot [HIDDEN TRACK]
Wait a second... You're such an active user that I thought you've been a big fan for a long time but you didn't know of Coldplay when Mylo Xyloto came out? :o I mean I'm not that early a fan (I first heard them in the VLV-era) but you're later than me?

X Marks The Spot [HIDDEN TRACK]
Hmm.. I personally like Army Of One better than XMTS, even if I like XMTS a bit better than I used to. Still my least favorite on the album (even the interludes rate higher in my book).

Why Coldplay?
Sounds like an AP English Language assignment, no?

GS
They are symbols from Coldplay's album "Ghost Stories". A heart (which was probably broken) from True Love, O from the song "O", and a ghost...well because it's Ghost Stories :p

My Coldplay-Influenced Album "Your Love Means Everything", What do you think?
Okay. I'm using this forum, and this post to reveal an album I have been working on. I hope I'm posting it under the right category. If I'm not, please let me know and I will repost to where it should be posted. Anyways, the album is inspired by Coldplay, thus I felt it appropriate to share it here. In Coldplay terms, this album is meant as a combination of many of Coldplay's album styles (X&Y, Ghost Stories, Viva and A Head full of Dreams predominantly). The album is three parts and directly correlate to three events in my life, and probably most others. The album is a "love, breakup, recovery and love again" album called Your Love Means Everything (Yes, I am aware that Coldplay has worked on a song of the same name, that song is inspiration for this album and is what it is about). Lyrically, it is supposed to signify the deep feelings of the euphoria one gets in his/her first relationship, and the subsequent devastation after it ends. But, on a good note, love is found that is more down-to-earth, more natural, more obtainable and real. Essentially, it is a love album, but it isn't just about one person. It's about the past, respecting it and how the past has gotten you to the love you have now. Here is the tracklist (with Coldplay songs as guides for how the song will generally sound. Again, more the approach I'm taking with them and not exactly how they will sound. I'm not looking to copy Coldplay (with one bold exception, as you'll see below) 1. Life (A spoken word poem similar to Kaleidoscope, but it is a poem I have written. Piano music I have written would accompany the speech) 2. Luna (This song is similar to Talk, with an airy synth and spacey guitar) 3. Walks (This one is stylistically similar to Square One, some synth, guitars and background keyboard) 4. Famous Old Painters (Yes, I have styled Coldplay's technically unreleased instrumental with lyrics) 5. The River (This one would be styled after Coldplay's song AROBTTH, especially the quieter parts of the song, this song features a male/female duet) 6. Going Mad (Very synthesized song with a piano interlude that Coldplay fans could relate to Midnight/YLME) 7. Galaxy (Don't Let Go) (This song is stylized after O(Fly On); it is a piano ballad, with some Viva-era guitars toward the end of Galaxy, Don't Let Go is a simplistic piano ballad, it doesn't feature synthesized voice like on O) 8. Don't Let Go (Part 2) (Don't Let Go piano melody, but with different lyrics) 9. See You Later (Not to be confused with See You Soon, this song is more stylistically similar to Everglow than See You Soon) (You can tell by now that I love the piano) 10. The River Flows On (Lyrically meant to be a "sequel" to The River, musically it is stylistically similar to I Wish I Was Here and crescendos at the end on a more positive note) 11. Summer Rains (Meant to be similar to Don't Panic, stylistically and in meaning) 12. Yet So Close (This song is meant to be stylistically similar to Up With The Birds, with the style of the first half of UWTB and the style of the second half switching, until finally the end of the song is like an enhanced even more euphoric second half of UWTB). 13. Falling Asleep On The Chair (I'm seeing this song as stylistically similar to the last minute and a half of How You See The World) 14. Heartbeat (More synth heavy than the previous songs (featuring a sort of heartbeat synth track, Birds-esque track, with less muted vocals than Birds) (Maybe like Lovers In Japan?) 15. Memories (Reign of Love-esque style, also more stylistically upbeat) 16. Shot For The Moon (Fun-esque style, but with more acoustics than in Fun) 17. I Love You (Amazing Day-esque sound, crescendoing into an Up&Up-esque ending) Singles are: Walks, Galaxy (Don't Let Go) and Shot For The Moon There is a B-Side to Walks called Steps, Galaxy has a B-Side called Home, and Shot For The Moon has a B-Side called Reflection of the Stars. In terms of the album art and style, outer space (the stars especially), and water are especially featured. I have attached a sample album art to the first page of the PDF that I will attach here. As Coldplay did with Ghost Stories, I have handwritten lyrics with doodles to accompany them. That is in the PDF. I have been working on this project for the past few years, and I must admit it's not 100% complete but it's been a pleasure and I wanted to share this. I'll update this post when I have the actual songs completed as well.
