They've reached a point of satisfaction and carefreeness? That point they've got so much money in the bank and so many fans they don't care what kind of crap they churn out!

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
Florence and The Machine are great.

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
Wow, that's horrible and just embarrassing.

U2
I've been listening to War and Boy a lot recently and some songs on them are completely timeless and just stunning. Electric Co, I Will Follow, New Years Day, 40, An Cat Dubh, Out of Control, Sunday Bloody Sunday etc all amazing songs with such a great energy. When you think also that Achtung Baby came before Oasis etc it almost sounds like the album that influenced the 90s.

And Chris said he had to audition songs before they agreed they'd produce them, whaaat? I can't listen to AHFOD anymore, it's just grates and is pretty boring.

Why do I dislike AHFOD so much?
The Newplayers don't/cant back up their posts, we've tried to back ours up and that post pretty much sums up all we've been saying. Great post.

Why do I dislike AHFOD so much?
Chris doesn't need to play the guitar anymore, he's evolved to a higher musical synth instrument genre!!!!!

Why do I dislike AHFOD so much?
It's actually reminds me of the sound of an early 2000s Coldplay Chris performance.

I went to 5 I&E gigs and they were just amazing but then every U2 gig I've been to has been amazing. Such a powerful, powerful live band. Unless you've experienced them live, it's difficult to explain how good they are.

U2
I discovered this gem yesterday and it blew me away, never even knew it existed but what a version of a great song performed by Edge!

I was at a U2 concert last month and I was so close to Edge I could hear the strum of his plectrum on the strings, it was amazing. Another great thing were the fluffed notes, the fuzz of the amps etc, they had minimal background effects and it sounded amazing, just like a raw garage band. I just know that if I go to one of the Coldplay AHFOD gigs there will be so many background synths, drum machines and noise, you'll hardly be able to hear the real instruments at all. I remember being at the Twisted Logic tour and at the front and again you could hear the plectrum noise and the unmiked drums etc. I really miss those Coldplay days :-( The crazy thing with AHFOD is its so badly mixed, a lot of the drum sounds and synths even are totally crushed, it's an incredibly bad amateur mix.

U2
Add "Gone" from Pop to one of U2s best as well such a great driving fuzzy riff through it. A bit of an underrated time for U2 with Zooropa and Pop, some of the songs on those two were just brilliant, songs like Stay, Zooropa, Daddy's Gonna Pay For Your Crashed Car etc they never really got the recognition for them. To be honest they'd probably kill to be writing tunes like that just now.

Well, I don't think they looked comfortable at all or in agreement on the James Corden show.

U2
Yeah. I've been listening a lot to Pop again this week after this thread and I really hear no comparison perhaps only in Discotheque but not even that much in that. The only real similarity is that one is pop music and the other is called Pop. On a side note, how good is Mofo? A proper dance track with a large dose of heavy Edge. It sounds great even today.

Billboard: Coldplay Lands Fourth No. 1 on Top Rock Albums Chart
Hmmmmm that's an interesting one. Id say some of the songs on AHFOD are of mainstream pop level (not degrading, just cheesy) , others not. It shouldn't really be in the Rock charts though, there's nothing really rock about it.

Why do I dislike AHFOD so much?
If the above poster is saying that ihaveabono is correct in some aspects in comparing Pop to AHFOD then I'm really stunned, there's just no comparison between the albums, none whatsoever. They're two totally different beasts.

Parachutes vs A Head Full Of Dreams
U2 are amazing, I agree with you there :-)

Why do I dislike AHFOD so much?
MX most definitely wasn't there best tour, I've been going to see Coldplay since 2002 and by far the AROBTTH tour was their best, intimate, intense and brilliant. I've even met Chris backstage on the Twisted Logic tour and travelled far to see them and spent a lot of money, I was a massive fan and have got no axe to grind with them. However I'm not blinded by my love for them to criticise them if they produce sub par music which AHFOD is, don't let your bias get in the way, listen to some great classic album from great bands and then listen to AHFOD. There's a massive difference in quality of music. Incidentally, AD most certainly be a classic if it was released during the AROBTTH era, that's a poor excuse for a dreadful, Clichéd, generic song.

Parachutes vs A Head Full Of Dreams
I'd suggest you're blinded by your love of the band. Objectively, it's a major decline in quality.

Parachutes vs A Head Full Of Dreams
By the general public, voted for in music lists etc. There's plenty of published "best albums of all time". In general the best albums will also sell well and have longevity in the charts (although that's not always the case). You can see this the way GS fell away in the charts. You can also see this the way The Beatles for example are still selling 50years on. In 5, 10, 20 years time noone will be citing AHFOD as an album that inspired them or a great album.
-
Parachutes vs A Head Full Of Dreams
It's subjective to a point. Why are some albums held up as classics and some discarded and never listened to again, because there's differences in quality that's why. AHFOD isn't a good album and won't be remembered in 5 or 10 years time or held up and cited unlike VLV, Parachutes and AROBTTH. AHFOD is throwaway.
