The official "UEFA Champions League 2006-2007" thread
Platini wins Uefa presidency Michel Platini has been elected Uefa's new president after beating previous incumbent Lennart Johansson in a vote in Dusseldorf. Johansson had spent 17 years in the post, but will now pass control over to French footballing legend Platini. The former Juventus star won the election at Uefa's Congress by 27 votes to 23 to deny Johansson a fifth term in office. Among Platini's election pledges was a promise to cut the maximum number of places in the UEFA Champions League for one country to three. He had also been advocating the introduction of two extra assistant referees to aid match officials, rather than resort to the use of video technology. During a wonderful playing career, Platini won virtually all the game's major honours, with only a World Cup title eluding his grasp. Platini did play in three World Cup finals tournaments, but his finest hour was in captaining France to the 1984 European Championship title on home soil, when he was the competition's top scorer. At club level, he was a huge success at St Etienne and Italian giants Juventus, and was named European Footballer of the Year three times in a row in the mid-1980s. He retired from playing in 1987 and took over as France's national team coach a year later before stepping down in 1992 after the European Championship in Sweden. Since then, he has played a prominent role in the organisational side of the game, and was a key figure in France staging the 1998 World Cup. Meanwhile, West Ham United chairman Eggert Magnusson has lost his place on Uefa's executive committee following his decision to stand down as president of the Icelandic Football Association.

Britain only 37th in list of "best countries to live"!!
the british transoprt system is quite bad. if you live in a city its alright if you dont you're fucked. i was really surprised how many places dont even have a station. and trains are incredibly expensive (and i'm a swiss saying that!) dont really know about health service. i heard people saying they didnt know a doctor in their area and that they havent seen one in ten years. i found this really surprising, everyone has a health insurance here. its voluntary in britain, innit? other then that i suppose britain's a good place to live. i wouldnt say switzerland's a better place to live tbh. but our social system is very good probably better than in most countries.

the Formula One thread 2007
sf drs decided not to show formula one anymore. this is incredibly annoying because everyone who lives in switzerland has to pay for this channel. formula one is one of the most watched sports and they decide not to show it anymore. wtf? their programme's crap anyway and its the only thing i've ever watched apart from news and football. plus we dont get orf 1 anymore. i really hope that wont happen with rtl otherwise we wont even be able to watch f1 live. :dozey:

OH, the PRESSURE!!! x.x
oh i know this too well. my dad's exactly the same, maybe even worse. he's still driving me insane. the problem is that i could do anything in the world, i would be never good enough. if other people do the same, they're brilliant if i'm doing it its ok. the same goes for my brother, i'm so so sick of it!! we could do anything in the world, he's never appreciate it. he wanted me to go to grammar school if you dont wanna say he foreced me to go. i hated it but i did quite well. he always put enormous pressure on me but theres nothing i can do about. i saw myself trying so hard for goals i never had. but once you're there everybody is doing a lot and you dont wanna be worse than them so i wasted my time for things which meant nothing to me. i'm 21 and he still hasnt changed. i lived abroad and i had the best time ever. i did what i thought was right and didnt have anyone telling me which way to go. i'm back home now and he still thinks he can decide anything. he just cant. my only problem is that i might have to go to uni and i wont receive any support from the state because my parents earn to much so i do depend on them if i ever go to uni. theres nothing i can do abgout it because he never listens to me. i'm quite good at discussing things with other people but not when i'm around my father. i often exactly know how i'm gonna respond but i just cant say nothing at all. i hope this will eventually change, its so sickening! and yeah i would love to leave one just now. if only i could. but i'd need a job in which i earn more than the one i currently found. my boyfriend lives abroad and i miss him so much. i would love to live with him and i dont think i'd have less of chance to find a job if i was there. but my father forbids me to go there. so i need to stay here and work that i have at least enough money that i could actually live there in case i wouldnt find a job in the city or anything. but theres something holding me back. i could find the best job in the world and i wouldnt be happy if it was here. the situation at home is just getting too much. i have to go my way and make my own decissons but i just cant while i'm here.

hello livia, nice to see you :nice: good night iris  i should go to sleep dammit. i gotta get up at 6:30 but i couldnt care less about tomorrow.- A thread to the lovely Iris!!!!(Love_Coldplay)
thats great! i had an interview yesterday and the day before and they both want me to come and work for one day to see if they wanna take me. but the job's boring and its really not what i wanna do. i met some girl who used to be a good friend of mine in town and she asked me why i was doing that if i already know i'm gonna hate the job before i've worked a second. i'm really wondering myself. it isnt the job that bring me down. it could be any job in the world and i wouldnt be happy and i know. i shouldnt complain all the time, i'm pretty lucky to get a job that fast and all but i'm just not. my boyfriend called today and what he was saying almost made me cry. he said that i shpulsnt let someone frighten me all the time. he said i wouldnt get any support anyway, so why bother. he'd do what he thought was right and i know he would. but he's stronger than me when it comes to them things. i know he's been in worse situations and he's come thru. but i just dont think i can. - A thread to the lovely Iris!!!!(Love_Coldplay)
