I struggled with all languages apart from English. :embarrassed:
  2. Hi everyone! My French is quite bad so I thought I'd ask in English... I'm thinking of going to Paris for a few weeks in my summer break to improve my French. Do you think it would be possible to find a part-time job there? My boyfriend might be coming with me and he doesn't speak any French at all. The careers people at my uni said there'll be plenty of jobs for English speaking people but I've picked up a book from there and phoned up a few hotels and holiday camps and I've had no luck so far.
  3. Definitely not. I'm terrified of death and I don't think I'm very good with people either.

German must be really, really difficult to learn. Some of the kids I went to school with lived in Switzerland all their lives and you could still tell that it wasn't their first language.

My Spanish teacher did Italian as her minor but she dropped it because the two languages were too similar and she somehow started confusing them. Then again, I'd imagine Spanish and Portuguese are quite similar too.

Chinese would be very useful but it must take forever to learn it so it might not be the best choice if you're only studying it for three years or so. My brother, who is about to graduate did Japanese as his second minor and he can barely say anything. I speak German, French and Spanish, although I couldn't actually say a lot in French or Spanish. If I had to learn another language, I'd probably learn Dutch.

haha fair enough, haven't read it properly I guess I was just expressing my annoyance at people who believe that Austria or Switzerland is a part of Germany. You don't wanna know how many times I had to explain my pupils that it isn't. But you're right, the article's fake.
  8. It normally does but it doesn't look like it. It says for most programme on BBC's website that they will become available on iplayer later but it doesn't mention anything for MOtD. I've watched the game, just wanna see the interviews etc. Thanks, gonna try footytube.

Germans not amused?! It's in Austria...
  10. Does anyone know where I can watch Match of the Day 2? It's not on iplayer, I don't think and I can't find it on youtube either.
  11. that I need to start looking for a new job
  12. Yeah I kind of do. Does anyone else ever sometimes in the wrong language? This can be quite embarrassing.
  13. This discussion reminds me of a South American guy who was an assistant teacher in a school in Manchester. He was a massive Man United fan and he hated Liverpool. He's never even been to Liverpool but he said some proper offensive stuff about the city and its people.
  14. Hello! I'm soo bored. Stayed in to write some essay for uni and I don't understand the text I'm supposed to write about. This isn't a good start.
  15. Yeah there might well be white shirt underneath it So true! It's always like that when you're looking for something though. Black pencil skirts seemed to be EVERYWHERE not too long ago and now that I'm looking for one [i've stupidly burned mine while ironing] I just can't find one that I like.
  16. The transparent dress/ tunic is nice. You just have to wear a top underneath it. It's a pain to find something that looks alright though. I bought a bright yellow dress which is transparent and I just can't find anything to wear underneath it. The fact that it would have to be nude or yellow doesn't help. I bought it like a year ago and I still haven't worn it. :embarrassed: Edit the second one you posted is nice too, I prefer the transparent one though.
  17. - that Lucky Charms is the best cereal ever. Why can't they sell them in normal shops? - also that my dissertation draft is very good (according to my supervisor). Done like half of it now so that's very good news.
  18. I haven't got any pets either. I miss having a dog sooo much. :(
  19. that I'm working on Sunday :(
  20. I wanted to be a vet too. A vet or a dog breeder haha I could never be a vet because I can't handle blood and I couldn't possibly put an animal down. I wanted to study law but didn't get the grades so I'm doing an English degree instead. I was thinking off getting into teaching but working in school has put me off. I'm graduating in a few months and I have no idea what I want to do with my degree. :embarrassed:
  21. There was a baby on the train when I was travelling to London a few weeks ago and it was driving me insane. I really needed to work on my dissertation and I couldn't concentrate at all. I kept turning up the volume on my ipod but the baby was louder. I think it's fair enough if there's quiet areas on a plane. If someone's paying for business class, they should be able to have a more peaceful journey.
  22. that the application deadline for one of the universities I wanted to apply to is on the 22 Feb and that they want a completely different application than most other unis. Not sure if I should bother, I don't think they'll accept me anyway.
  23. I don't know. I guess most people just accept that that's the way things are and try to make the best of it. I didn't know any different until I moved away. Like everyone else I was under a lot of pressure and never really thought about it.
