  1. Many Liverpudlians refer to themselves as Scousers, the term isn't exactly offensive. I am well aware of the rivalry if that's what you mean. It just annoys me when people who have never been to Liverpool feel the need to slag off the city and its people just because they happen to support Man United.
  2. Have you even been to Liverpool?
  3. It depends. Up to 12 hours a day before exams, 0 hours now.
  4. I don't understand it either. I moved away from my country as soon as I finished school because I wasn't happy there. People keep asking me if I miss 'home' and they sometimes even try to convince me that it must be difficult to leave your country. I know that most people would feel this way but I really don't and it annoys me when people try to convince me when I told them that I don't miss the place. It's like they expect you to love a country simply because you were born there. I really don't get it.
  5. It rained in the morning but it's nice and sunny now.
  6. Personally, I would do whatever's best for my career. Then again I haven't been very lucky when it comes to love so maybe I'm not the best person to ask. If your relationship is the main thing that keeps you from going to this school, definitely ask yourself whether your partner would be prepared to do the same thing for you. I met my boyfriend while he was at uni in the same city. He then moved back home for financial reasons, which is fair enough. He always told me that he wanted to live close to his hometown and seeing as he's got a full-time job and I just finished my degree, I thought it would make sense for me to do my Masters in a city that is close to where he lives. However, he's now got a good job offer in Ireland and altough he did ask me how I felt about, it's not like I could have stopped him from going. I don't really want to either, he should do whatever makes him happy. Still I can't help feeling let down because I would have moved for him.
  7. Yeah I wasn't suggesting they were the better option. It was always gonna be between Labour and Lib Dems anyway and I'm kinda glad Lib Dems didn't win seeing as they didn't exactly keep their promises.
  8. Well it doesn't seem right that Scottish MPs are allowed to vote on English/ British matters that don't concern Scotland because they've got their own government. I kind of like the idea of an independent Scotland but I can see that they would struggle financially so I'm not sure what to think.
  9. I think they'll get used to it very quickly. You've got a point though. My friend applied for a summer job in a British restaurant at Disney World and she had a phone interview but didn't get through to the second round because 'she doesn't sound British'.
  10. How is she a flop in the UK? Cheryl obviously isn't the best singer in the world but I like her. Also that 'translator' is a joke, Cheryl Cole isn't difficult to understand.
  11. Same in my district although their campaign has been terrible. Lib Dems sent a flyer claiming that Labour want to introduce fortnightly bin collections. Labour then responded with a flyer which basically said 'Lib Dems are lying, vote for us'. They didn't state one single reason why we should vote for them. I guess most people voted Labour because they're disappointed with Lib Dems.
  12. Neither did I but I've never used it as an excuse. It's obviously wrong when people make fun of you if you make mistakes but I've always preferred it when people point it out to me. You're a lot more likely to improve your English that way.
  13. I'm no expert on this but Scottish people always tend to vote differently than the rest of the UK [the South of England in particular] so they'll probably feel under-represented by the British government?
  14. Thanks! I love them. I'm still looking for a dress (and shoes) for my graduation. I'm going to London next month though so it might be a good idea to wait till then.
  15. my Take That tickets have arrived
  16. I've got a bright yellow dress and I'm really pale. I still think it looks alright, I got complemented on it a few times. It really doesn't bother me. I'd rather be pale than orange. In other news I bought these shoes the other day.
  17. It doesn't really bother me. I know the basic grammar rules but I often make mistakes when I'm tired. I think my grammar actually got worse since I've moved to the UK.
  18. Not really. She can write understandable English and it's getting quite annoying!
  19. Lory is most definitely a troll.
  20. I wonder why the British royal family get so much attention in other countries. I mean they seem to be only royal family you ever hear about.
  21. I'm the same, I'm definitely not a morning person. I don't get up till mid-day if I don't have to.
  22. Just try to do as much work as you possibly can over the weekend. Spent most of the day & night in the library today to get some essay done but I managed to get it in on time. Good luck with your exams, you'll probably be alright! I'm in the same situation. Applied to 5 universities, got 4 conditional offers so far but it all depends on my final results. The uni I wanna go to has the highest entry requirements out of the 4, which sucks.
  23. I've done it! Handed it in 15 minutes before the deadline. Only slept like 4 hours last night, I'm SO tired. Dissertation is in on Monday, I hate being in third year.
  24. German, French and a little bit of Spanish. Just two. You can do three if you want. They only let you do two languages if you want to translate in both directions. Only one of those unis actually train you to do that though.
