Well from what I've heard they have, and will continue to, work on it on tour. I think that especially during the next American-leg of the tour they will spend some time in the studio. As you can see some of their tour schedule seems to be a bit open. They were saying initially that the new album could be out as early as spring, but realistically I would say at the very earliest they'd release it at the end of 2006, as you hypothesized, but with Chris having another kid in the spring and the tour going into the summer etc ... it'll probably be 2007 before a new album drops!

The cover was by Tanya Chua. She is a very different artist from what most people on the board would typically listen to. I personally think that it was a pretty good cover, but it's often hard to tell when it's being used as background music. She also has a cover of the song "Drops of Jupiter" which is different but good in my oppinion.

I was just thinking that a crazy gig to see would be one where Coldplay only performed some of there socially critical or politically motivated tracks. I know that ordinarily it wouldn't happen, but Live 8 would have been a good chance. anyways a crazy setlist that I thought of was: 1. Politik 2. Spies 3. Brothers and Sisters 4. How You See The World 2 5. Such A Rush 6. Animals 7. We Never Change 8. Don't Panic 9. What the World Needs Now 10. A Rush of Blood To The Head 11. Amsterdam 12. Twisted Logic I don't know, I just think it would be great!

I can't tell if Sleeping Sun was from the X&Y sessions or if it has been written, played and recorded since (making it one of the "new songs" they've worked on during the tour so far). Anyone know?

Anyone know what the significance of 33,000 or 33 is for Coldplay? Why did they pick such an arbitrary number of visits before each location was loaded?

your best bet is looking on the coldplay hub on dc++ for lossless. There are two versions of ladder to the sun floating out there, I have both in lossy. The one from Bell Centre is a better file, because there's less background noise, but they do the song better on the Austin Texas gig file (1/29/03) ...

Talk wasn't the only song that was switched during the recording process. I think that after recording Low they decided to go back and re-do all their other tracks, Talk being one of them. By the time the leak of the old talk occurred, they already had the second version (the mix no one has yet heard) and so I don't think it was totally based on the leak. But I think the leak, and a desire to push album material to another level, caused Chris to re-write the lyrics from the 1st and 2nd version for the 3rd final version we have now.

I read on this website once that amongst songs left of AROBTHH was a song called Deserter, and that there were a whole bunch of others (like Fingers Crossed, and I can't remember which other ones) in any case, a lot of people at the time said that the existence of that track was horse shizzle. But I guess now we know its not. As for the other one, never heard of it ... What's this video you guys have? Away Day? Is it from the Live 2003 DVD or what exactly ?

There is a rumour going around that Coldplay will be coming back to North America in the Spring ... I highly doubt it though. Right now the rumour is either March or April ... but even if they do come, I wouldn't hold much hope that they'd come to the East!

I also think that with X&Y they recorded, re-recorded, scrapped and then recorded and mixed etc .. by the end of the X&Y sessions I feel like we now have a much more confident Coldplay, more so than every with Parachutes and AROBTTH. While they used to be more modest and humble about their music. I think with this new confidence they'll go through the process my more quickly ... but I still doubt that we'll see a new album in 2006 Spring !

lol yeah I'm not too sure about Moses ... though its possible. I think it would be great to hear Ladder to the Sun, Solid Ground maybe Sweet Marianne ... and I doubt How You See The World would be released as a b-side, just because it is a bonus track, and was re-mixed to be on a compilation album ...

Debs probably won't spread it because the band doesnt really want other people hearing their work in progress ... only their final work. But honestly, we've never seen Coldplay release previous versions of their songs, if anything only re-vamped versions, i'm doubtful that they will include this version. Oh and I also think that the third version of Talk, the one between the unmixed and the X&Y is probably not as good as either of the two ... because as we've heard its the lyrics of the new song (pretty much) with the same music from the first ... at least thats what's been said. my hope is that Ladder to the Sun will be released as a B-side on talk

anybody know why the song is so short though? i would imagine that they could've made it longer, and it just seems like it could have easily been so. same with parachutes (the song) ... interesting that they did that, and haven't done that with any of their songs since ...

Kanye is my favorite rapper. Musically Late Registration is probably the best Hip Hop album that I've ever heard, and I listen to a lot of hip hop. I urge all of you who haven't heard it yet to give it a shot ... anyways, needless to say, I would love to see these two acts together, it would be a dream. Unfortunately though, I think Kanye, despite his notorious cockiness, respects Coldplay more than Coldplay respects him ... This type of a pairing wouldn't make sense to me. If Coldplay could choose any group I think they'd likely pick The Arcade Fire to open for them (which I'd also kill to see!!!) But alas, U2 has gotten to them first

Definitely agree with that MisterErthway ... I'm thinking something that's a cross between the Faultline tracks with Chris on them and and Square One type songs as well ...

I think it should be interesting, and I dont think they'll go for absolutely no piano, probably just less ... When they say heavier and darker, I think what we can expect is for them to go continue from the same place in their minds' where songs like Politik, Twisted Logic, 1.36 (good example used earlier in this thread), and Low came from. I think they want to experiment with the use of other instruments and test the formula a bit. I don't know if you guys remember reading this, but when X&Y was being released Chris spoke about how many people at EMI involved with the record didn't want Twisted Logic to be on the disc, but they insisted that it be there, because it was there for them. I also think that the fact that it is their last track on the album and that the tour is named after it, are highly indicative of the fact that they want to head in the direction of that song. More dark, heavy, and a completely different meaning then the majority of their work. And for those who are scared about losing the piano, there's still plenty of old songs which they'll continue to play with it
