NBC DVD SPECIAL TRAILER! (May 18, 2014)
^ I think that this is what makes the start of this era so exciting and so much better than the MX one, these songs are amazing, they've thrilled us with something completely out of the blue like Midnight and they've comforted us with something that harks back to the Coldplay we all fell in love with (Oceans), the first song that we heard out of MX was ETIAW which is a fine song but not quite what i was expecting, when they started playing the summer festivals and we heard all of the other new songs i was like 'well, this is more like it' but then i realised that we had heard like half of the album or more and, by the time the record leaked, i was a little bit weary of the whole MX era, i was really excited but it was a different kind of excitement than when VLVODAAHF came out, for example, my first reaction was 'about time, let's listen to this thing already' but now i'm really REALLY looking forward to the NBC special, ASFOS which i think will be amazing even though i don't want to get my hopes extremely up and finally, after all this extremely well orchestrated build up, the release of the record.

NBC DVD SPECIAL TRAILER! (May 18, 2014)
I was just thinking this exact same thing today and kept trying to figure out how to say it in spanish but couldn't... Anyway, i joined this forum during the X&Y era and i've since come to the conclusion that these build-ups leading to the album being released are my favorite part of the different eras, everything is so new and exciting and i feel that they dropped the ball with the whole period leading un to MX but they really got it right this time, the reveals have been well timed and they haven't given too much away yet :)

NBC DVD SPECIAL TRAILER! (May 18, 2014)
These trailers have made me sooo jealous (in a good, happy-for-them way) of our fellow Coldplayers who got to be a part of that, it looks and sounds AMAZING, my excitement level for Ghost Stories is through the roof :)

Oceans
I loved the 'radar' sound, i loved the lyrics, i loved this song so much, i woke up to the news that they had played a new song today (best wake-up feeling ever BTW) and i was struggling not to listen to it but i caved in and i absolutely do not regret it, it has such a great early-era Coldplay feel to it. This album will be amazing, I've never been the 'I WANT THE OLD COLDPLAY BACK' type, i know that bands evolve and change, it's logical and natural but i can appreciate that some (if not most) of us fell in love with the Parachutes-AROBTTH Coldplay and, if the tracks we've already heard are a solid indicator of how the album will turn out, i'm extremely happy to see that they're combining that evolved, modern Coldplay (Midnight) with some great throwback stuff (Oceans, Always In My Head).

Will Ghost Stories be as good as the others?
Yes, it is well structured indeed, i meant 'uneven' in terms of quality :)

Will Ghost Stories be as good as the others?
I think that MX has some really strong tracks in it but, as a whole, i don't like it as much as i like the other LPs. For example, i think that Viva is a pretty solid record from start to finish because it has such good cohesiveness (i don't know if that word actually exists) but, individually, the only song on it that i really love and listen to on a regular basis is Strawberry Swing, whereas MX has great tracks in it like Charlie Brown, UATW, Hurts Like Heaven or DLIBYH but it's a pretty uneven record.

MX is a good album but it's them going in a different direction, maybe it didnt live up to the Coldplay standards that we've come to expect but it has some really good songs in it :)

How much of Ghost Stories is about Gwyneth?
It's quite obvious that is is a break-up album IMO, maybe it's not as obvious as Maroon 5's Songs About Jane was but come on, with those lyrics and those song titles how can Ghost Stories not be a break-up album? :(

Chris and Gwyneth announced their separation
I repeat, we as fans and people who don't really have anything to do with their lifes besides being Coldplay fans, will never know what exactly happened and why their marriage crumbled but personally, i have the 'cheating Gwyneth' idea stuck in my head, i hope for Chris' emotional sake that that's not the case because an infidelity hurts a lot so i guess we can just agree to disagree...
-
Chris and Gwyneth announced their separation
I know and i'm sure that they had a lot of problems (as most married couples do) but, out of that myriad of marriage problems, the supposed cheating is the one that we found out about and that's why i started talking about it...
-
Chris and Gwyneth announced their separation
We'll never know exactly what went down but we do know that stories about Gwyneth cheating have been going around for months and now they're getting a divorce and we also know that Chris wrote lyrics about someone being in another's arms and about begging to that someone to tell him that she loves him even if she doesn't, you do the math...
-
Chris and Gwyneth announced their separation
That penny thing is such a silly example, cheating and divorce are two directly related things, one is a direct cause for the other therefore if i've been hearing these cheating rumours for months and now all of a sudden they announce their 'conscious uncoupling' then i'm definitely thinking that those pesky tabloids and magazines MAY have been right...
-
Chris and Gwyneth announced their separation
Maybe she is, i don't know nor do i care, i care about Chris because he's the one that i've looked up to and admired for more than 10 years...
-
Chris and Gwyneth announced their separation
Look, i don't usually read tabloids or gossip magazines (and btw i'm no expert but i don't think Vanity Fair fits into that category) because i don't care for them at all and i'm definitely NOT a mindless tabloid follower, far from it but, as they say in my country, 'si el rio suena es que agua lleva', which roughly translates into 'if you can hear the river it's because it has water running in it' so if Gwyneth has been rumoured (by plenty of media outlets) to have cheated in the last few months and now they come out to say that they're getting divorced then MAYBE there's some truth to the story right? that why i said that i don't think anyone just came up with a crazy story to sell magazines. And no, i haven't met Gwyneth Paltrow which is why i said that i find it funny that regular people like us can like or dislike a famous person whom we probably will never meet or have a conversation with, i said i'm angry and mad at her because she's making Chris suffer and go through a hard time, that's all...
-
Chris and Gwyneth announced their separation
I haven't read the whole thread so i don't know if anyone has posted this but i am sort of angry at her (it's funny and kind of silly how regular folks like us can get angry at celebrities) because i'm sure she cheated on him, i don't think that those Vanity Fair rumours were whipped out of someone's imagination just for the hell of it, my theory is that they were going through a rough patch and she cheated and i think that's where Another's Arms came from...

Excitement levels for Ghost Stories
The DVD shoot reviews have made my excitement level almost unbearable, i fell in love with Coldplay when they released Parachutes, specially with it's love songs (Sparks, Shiver, Trouble and my favourite song of all time, Yellow) and this sounds like it's going to go back to those roots. I always roll my eyes when someone says that MX sucks because it doesnt sound like the 'old Coldplay, there are a couple of things about it that do suck IMO but not sounding like old Coldplay ain't one of them, i love that they evolve and give us something different every time but it's always nice to have songs that remind you why you fell in love with the band in the first place :)

Excitement levels for Ghost Stories
I think it's a different kind of excitement than the one we had 3 years ago, the MX wait went on for a long time (those 6 months felt like forever) but they gave us little nuggets every now and then to keep us happy and this just came out of left field, we all knew they were up to something with those cryptic GIFs but i never expected them to reveal the album title, the cover art, the tracklist AND a new song all at once, it was too much to process. Personally, i have absolutely loved 3 out of the 4 new songs (Another's Arms is the one i didn't fall madly in love with at first listen, that 'late night watching TV' line just doesn't do it for me) and i have really high expectations for GS, i get the feeling that it's gonna be a really good Coldplay album and i say Coldplay album because, in retrospective, MX was a great album, it's an album that most bands would kill to have made because it has quite a few really good tunes on it but it's not a great Coldplay album.
