Tour 2008: Square One & Politik ? ? ?
So... The question is... will Coldplay perform Square One or Politik during their 2008 tour? I hope they decide to keep these in the mix; I was lucky enough to see Coldplay twice in 2005 and one of the strongest memories I have of seeing them was the opener Square One at Earl's Court, London. The lighting and performance was amazing. Feel free to comment, but I think this was more of a 'soundboard' post, hehehe.

Where Will VH Fit on the Setlist?
I doubt Coldplay will perform Square One or Politik as much as we'd like during the Viva La Vida tour. The set-list will open something like this... 1. Life In Technicolour 2. Violet Hill 3. GPASUYF 4. Lost! Etc

Life in Technicolor
This has already been posted, but thanks anyways :)

which is the first song of coldplay which you listened to ?
The first Coldplay song I heard was 'Yellow'. This was on MTV or VH1 back in 2000. I remember seeing the video of Chris on the beach and thinking "meh... it's ok I guess"... Then in 2002 I spent a lot of time listening to the first album 'Parachutes' with an ex-girlfriend, I remember 'High Speed' being my favourite track at the time. I then found out they were playing at the Hall For Cornwall (Truro, Cornwall) and got a couple of tickets... it was an amazing night, my first live music gig EVER and the rest they say is history :) I got my own copy of 'Parachutes' for my birthday a month after and 'A Rush of Blood To The Head' later that year... The first song I had ever heard them play live was 'Politik', what a way to start eh :)

You can hear Lost! in this video...
I am not sure if any of you have seen this and please accept my apologies if it has already been posted. I have been browsing Play.com and found Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends. Beneath the album info is a video of an interview with the band, in the background is the track 'Lost!'. Have a listen... http://www.play.com/Music/CD/4-/1117600/Viva-La-Vida-Or-Death-And-All-His-Friends/Product.html So... Lost? is just Chris and the piano and Lost! is the full band :) http://youtube.com/watch?v=sHbDaoQF_4E

Life In Techniclour... can you hear Cemeteries Of London?
At the end of Life In Technicolour (of the recently leaked video stolen from Coldplay.com) you can, or at least I think I can, hear the start of a new track - quite dark... has anyone else noticed this? It could be the start of Cemeteries Of London.

Life in Technicolor (No links)
Thanks for the link. I downloaded it from a blog called 'one died simply'. It has several links to the file using multiple upload sites; not sure what the format is though. You can google the blog site.

Violet Hill... ummmm, I now like it... a lot...
This is a pointless thread but I had to post it somewhere and it might as well be on a Coldplay forum... When Violet Hill was released... I hated it, with a passion. But now, for some obscure reason... I LOVE IT! I'm not sure what has changed but VH, VLV, Lost? and ASARY are all awesome! Nobody needs to explain why this has happened so late, I guess it's just better late than never. One Love Peace Out Word To Your mother Dan x x x a.k.a. your brother from another mother

Weakest First Single Yet?
I regard these songs as the top singles from each album. Shiver, The Scientist and What If. I believe that each of these singles show true progression of a great band. I do not consider Violet Hill as the first single from VLVODAAHF, but more of an introduction to the new sound of Coldplay and taster before the next release, much like the 'leaked' alternative version of Talk. I hope 42 is the next single.

You can HEAR A Spell A Rebel Yell
I have posted a lot of negativity about Violet Hill recently, but hearing this has given me hope about VLV. It sounds very odd, but that is a good thing. It's a lot less mainstream than VH. The vocals sound very 'Echo & the Bunnymen', as someone pointed out to me. If each song on VLV is as different to each other as VH is to ASARY then the album should have a bit of something for everyone on there! There is hope yet.

Disappointed
Yeah, Violet Hill is boring. The main problem I have with it is JB's guitar parts. The distorted guitar riff at the start of the song that drives the beat is shit, sounds very much cut and dropped there, it doesn't sound a part of the song. Also, JB's guitar solo is also shit. It sounds like something the Kaiser Chiefs would come up with. Very boring and repetitive. Violet Hill will be the song I skip on VLVODAAHF.

Violet Hill Is Poor
Thanks for the myspace comment, I really appreciate it!

Violet Hill Is Poor
This is not a bitchfest. I am simply giving my opinion. Is that not what we're here to do? Just because the majority think Violet Hill is good does not mean the minority have to follow suit. Perhaps those who do not like the fact there are Coldplay fans who dislike Violet Hill should not post in this type of thread.

Violet Hill Is Poor
I am a massive Coldplay fan, since the Blue Room EP days, however it does not mean that I am going to kiss their collective arses everytime they release some new material. Violet Hill is boring and could have been so much more. You say 'music is to be interpreted by the listener', which is what we're doing isn't it? Giving our own interpretation? Finally, there is no need to bark orders 'if you don't like it... CRY. find a new band or just stick with their old stuff' because at the end of the day VLVODAAHF could be amazing, but it still does not detract away from the fact VH is a poor song, when compared to their other releases.

Violet Hill Is Poor
I posted this in another thread, but it seems to fit best here: The novelty of Violet Hill has gone. At the end of the day the lyrics leave a lot to be desired, the song structure is boring and poorly edited leaving a bass line that would fit nicely on any Kaiser Chiefs song. Before you think that's a good thing, it isn't - Kaiser Chiefs are shit. Violet Hill was a safe bet for Coldplay, leading nicely on to 'bridge the gap' between X&Y and Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends. If this was the influence Eno had on the band I am starting to wonder what else VLVODAAHF has to offer. Be afraid, be very afraid. It pains me to say it but this was not worth the wait. Coldplay are old, tired and have run out of ideas. I guess I always have Parachutes and A Rush Of Blood To The Head. bresc, probably not the best example...

Where Will VH Fit on the Setlist?
The end of Violet Hill, with it being so calm and gentle, would allow for smooth transition into Square One which is imo a song they should NEVER drop from a setlist, fucking AMAZING opener!

Mistakes in Violet Hill
I understand. I guess this is just a matter of opinion. At the end of the day what Coldplay and Eno have released is the definitive version of Violet Hill; everything within it should be looked at as being what Coldplay and Eno intended to create and release. I would have thought that these imperfections would have been picked up by Coldplay, Eno and whoever else had listened to it before release if they were blatant mistakes. If they were to be corrected we would end up with a flat, wall of sound without these the little quirks that catch your attention and give so many of Coldplay's songs character.

Mistakes in Violet Hill
greta22, you have come up with some good points there. but eno may have simply decided to keep these 'flaws' to give the song some edge, as with 'everything's not lost' on parachutes - as far as i am aware that was just one take, you can pick up imperfections in the vocals but still without them it wouldn't be such a good song. it almost gives the song some honesty, you know? i am sure with this upcomming album being the 4th (and one that has the potential to destroy coldplay's career, if produced badly) eno wouldn't let something as trvial as this get in the way. violet hill was no doubt mean't to sound raw and with some grit, unlike the previous album's plastic feel.

What do you think about Violet Hill?
I know exactly what you mean dude, haha! I thought that a moment ago! Violet Hill is great, not what I expected but great! It makes a change for Chris to be singing about something other than space, pieces of puzzles or death... haha...

XFM: "Most exciting Coldplay news you'll hear all year on Monday..."
I think the 'exciting news' will be one of three things. 1. 2008 tour details (including a date at wembley stadium) 2. that they're going to replace Jay Z as the Saturday Glasto headliner 3. chris is gay EDIT: Oh and I have next Tuesday off work, completely unplanned but seems to have worked out well none the less...
