I had to sleep outside today because my family lost their home a few years back, I had to drop out, get my own job, support myself. Because they can't anymore. Load of shit, obviously. I understand exactly what you mean, couldn't agree with you more. It's dumb to compare bands in the first place. I am so utterly sick of people comparing U2 and Coldplay that I feel like puking. If I had a rock band I'd completely rip off Bono AND Chris with everything they do. I don't see how that could be a bad thing...? I'm not such an elitist with my music that I'll immediately discriminate against a band if they remotely sound like someone else. Like how I recently fell in love with Keane even though people would probably be all "omgz liek they stoled from Coldplay nothnx". But who cares, I love the music... Jeeeeeez! Believe me, I know how tough it is to fight for Coldplay to be respected :lol: I remember when they played the Grammys in '03 (whenever they played Politik...) and I came in the next day to school, everyone was making fun of them. Calling them really stupid and lame. I was kind of embaressed for loving them so much. It's amazing how much it's changed... Hasn't Coldplay been in the Best Alternative category for the past two albums, and this is their first time in the "rock" category? Oh man... Kelly Clarkson winning, wasn't that pathetic? I feel bad having voted for her on American Idol. If I'd have known she'd be beating Paul one day... Ah. I was young and impressionable!!!!!!!! It's not my fault! Oh, the performances for fans are always the best. It's too bad that a lot of people poo poo award show performances (not talking about U2 here, talking mainly about Coldplay). The guys can't feed off an audiences emotions, they've only got about 4 rows of people who don't even know who they are who were hired strictly to scream and yell and pretend they know what's going on. It's mildly depressing. I never enjoy the performances I see, no matter who it is. It's all so phony and boring... :snore: But that's the Grammys, they're supposed to suck SOMEHOW :lol: And if the band's good, and they're getting the audience up, someone will screw up the sound system and ruin it. Just incase. Aw no, I won't leave. I was just a bit upset from some other things I was reading in other places (not even here, mostly LJ and hearing things at school, etc etc). So I've been bitter and defensive this afternoon. I don't know whether to be happy or sad, so I have a hard time reacting to these threads. :( It's a difficult predicament I'm in!! I'm a Coldplay fan too... Don't forget that. :lol: ;) I'm one of you guys, I was fucking pissed off when I saw that U2 and Coldplay were nominated in every category, because I knew this was going to happen. :confused: I'm not upset (only about that stupid joke, that did upset me a bit) about anything written here, obviously. I like a little bit of drama. :wink3: I think Coldplay has a lot more proving themselves to go through before they get any of these big awards. The people who are voting aren't really voting for the album, per se, but really the band name attatched. I admit to that, yeah, U2 won because they're U2. If U2 didn't win, then Coldplay should. And if Coldplay didn't win, then U2 should. I mean, they're practically the same band... :lol: :lol: The Grammys don't mean anything, I'm sure it's not going to mess up Coldplay's tour schedule, and I think that's what's really going on in the guy's lives. As it rightfully should. Industry doesn't matter, only us fans.
