  1. That's EXACTLY what happened. People bought the "sell out" narrative so hard they forgot Parlophone's president confirmed months before that Everyday Life's successor would be commercial and arriving shortly.
  2. As far as I remember only Arabesque and People of the Pride are reworks (which by the way can count as a form of art within itself), I think they still have a good amount of creativity in them but it's kinda hard to constantly channel it when people spend fifteen years saying that nothing you have done is good enough.
  3. They're not going to put an end to their career because a bunch of pretentious hags think they deserve to die lol. Y'all take music critics too seriously, if we're going by what they say, Olivia Rodrigo's Sour is better than any Coldplay album. We're getting three more records. Period. Now, if they do change some stuff, it will be because they want to please us fans, not Pitchfork writers. Those type of people never truly loved them anyway, just backhanded compliments at best.
  4. Death And All His Friends vs All I Can Think About Is You
  5. The video teaser is kind of serving Up&Up, I really hope it's just as great.
  6. Does anyone still have the file to this interview? I tried the links from this thread but they don't work anymore.
  7. I have been in this fan base for a while now and can I be honest? There's no bigger threat to Coldplay's legacy then Coldplayers. (Constructive) criticism is valid and needed, but some of you are just so quick to write them off entirety. This is literally the only fandom where I have seen fans being meaner than haters, speaks volumes.
  8. It's their lives and art first and foremost, they don't have any obligation to fit what you idealized for them, funny asking for maturity while not showing any. You can dislike something they are doing at the moment but they're clearly enjoying it, hence why we have a song like My Universe sharing space with Coloratura (which is messy, I think we can all agree on that, but there's no point in acting this way, I doubt you would say this stuff to the band on their faces).
  9. I wonder if they'll perform Let Somebody Go at the Brits, it's a good promo slot (also, have you guys voted today? If some are still bitter about Music of the Spheres do it for me then, my perfectionist ass would love a 5 to 5 proportion of wins 🤪).
  10. They did that on Everyday Life. Still one of the most hated bands in the world.
  11. Not true. For critics AHFOD was mixed to positive while MOTS was mixed to negative and have their worst public score.
  12. My thoughts exactly. We'll either get something Tony/Oscar-worthy or like that Sia movie that was REALLY panned.
  13. We got six music videos for Everyday Life and it's quite certain that they were already recording MOTS at the time. The band's silence has a reason, they can claim not caring about what other people think but I've saw some FANS attacking them after the album release, that would make any artist feel down. Even Phil disappeared, y'all are innocent to believe they don't see everything that goes on in the internet.
  14. It feels like they abandoned the era to be honest, which is understandable given the reception 😔
  15. Viva La Vida. I almost shake and trow up with how overrated AROBTTH is.
  16. Which is exactly why I think the band will still put out singles and EPs after 2025 to compliment their tours. I can 100% see them keeping things normal with exception of the "no more albums" part. I mean, just look at MOTS' rollout: releasing an album means working your ass off during months while also having your artistry and life extremely scrutinized by music critics. By doing what I mentioned they remove most the bad shit since smaller releases are limited to fan circles, keep the fun part of making music, and on top of it all they can play live (a.k.a. the thing the band loves the most) at any given time.
  17. You know... Even if they stop making albums I'm still inclined to believe they won't stop releasing music, like EPs, singles... That kind of stuff.
  18. I would love a Parachutes / Ghost Stories tour to be honest. They could make it in arenas for a more intimate vibe as well (may the Hunger, I mean, Ticket Games begin lol).
  19. Anyway, I'm really curious about the whole musical album thing. A musical for Broadway? A concept record like Mylo Xyloto and then we get a movie or a visual project? A soundtrack like Thom Yorke did for Suspiria? So many possibilities going on here! (I would kill for an instrumental/ambient Coldplay album for a space movie).
  20. They recorded Everyday Life and MOTS kind of around the same time and there's already some stuff on the latter album's thread pointing at them having another project in the works, time is definitely not a problem, specially if there's a few breaks between legs. As for the long-term contract, it probably includes managing the catalogue, which is actually quite important for their legacy. Madonna's discography, for example, started to get remastered content and better promotion in streaming when she returned to Warner Music Group, they own most of her old albums but weren't really working on them because she was in another label. Given how Coldplay own the master recordings of MOTS, I wouldn't be surprised if the other albums go to the band once they release LP12, but they have always maintained a good relationship with Parlophone, so there's no reason to change that.
  21. As far as we know, the other volumes of MOTS can be anything, they never explicitly stated anywhere that it will be albums. From what I understood in the interview, at least the "kind of a musical" and "back to basics" albums are their own thing.
  22. If you go to most news/magazine websites, the comments are all celebrating and comparing them to the pandemic. Can you imagine receiving so much unwarranted hate for 23 years? It takes a toll in anyone's mental health. Then we also have MOTS being hated even by fans. Maybe I'm wrong and the band have everything planned carefully to give us a nice farewell, but if the case is otherwise I wouldn't be mad at all. I'm only sad because I didn't became a Coldplay fan earlier to enjoy more of the ride, but well, I'll be holding their hand until the very end no matter what.
  23. i wasn't reaaaally thinking any of you two were girls, it's just manner of speech
