[23-Jul-2012] Coldplay @ Air Canada Centre, Toronto, ON, Canada
^ don't remember actually from when I saw them at the Rogers Centre/Skydome (viva era). but keep in mind the ACC is a lot smaller than Rogers Centre I don't know if I should go to this one, i mean i've downloaded some festival gigs already and know what to expect. Of course they could always change the setlist and stuff but still unsure.

LP6 Worries me
Fuck knows man, did MX sound anything like Viva? did Viva sound anything like X&Y? Why worry about something that a) you have no control over and b) is so far in the future? I'll be real honest, i prefer the 'old Coldplay' of Parachutes and AROBTTH over Viva and MX, but to spend/waste your time fussing over what the next album is gonna be like just grinds my gears. It must be nice to have a life where this is your biggest concern though....worst case scenario: LP6 comes out, i hate it but I can still kick back and listen to the AROBTTH album i own; not the end of the world

Will Car Kids leak?
exactly. I dont think anyone is dreading another song in our pockets, but theres no use of begging for it to be released.

Coldplay | Charlie Brown 3rd single?
reading the wikipedia article on Charlie Brown and it says under tracklisting for the promo... Car Kids - 3:22 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charlie_Brown_%28Coldplay_song%29 is it just trolling? i'm sure i'm not the first to notice either, but i've been busy with life to have followed anything here too closely so apologies

GaGa Admires Martin
Sorry to be rude, but if thats all it takes for you to 'end your love for them', you aren't much of a fan to begin with...though i'm sure this was meant to be tounge-in-cheek In general, I'm not a fan of Gaga, but if she wants to work with Chris (or the rest of Coldplay) good on her! And if the band accept, good as well; i'm sure they know what they're doing and they're definitely not gonna get persuaded by a bunch of overly vocal and whinny 'fans'.

Rank Coldplay's albums
Anywho, here we go: Rush>'Chutes>Viva~MX>X&Y

Guy Berryman on MX
Sorry I kinda derailed from what OP was saying. Iunno, i'm aware that none of the guys really like the spotlight besides Chris but Will does have interesting things to say when he does say it and at least him and Jonny look a bit more engaged to an interview than Guy does. I could be way off base here, but it's just what i'm seeing.

Guy Berryman on MX
He's def. there in Major Minus. I suppose you would need to use headphones to hear it. But I guess this album would 'belong' more to Jonny and perhaps Chris. Speaking of Guy, he just seems kinda sad for some reason lately except for the interview with Jonny during the Q awards. It's prolly just my imagination but he really seems bummed out to me. I have no evidence to say this but perhaps he's not 100% with the new direction? (to be clear, i'm not an MX hater)

Brian May Comments On Driven By You Sample Use
Good to hear. See, this is what I don't get; if Coldplay have had a history of calling up artists or mailing them letters asking for permission to sample their songs, why wouldn't they ask Satriani or this Vietnamese singer? Why would Coldplay knowingly sample their songs without asking if they had a history of asking everyone else. Just doesn't make sense, and because of this, I would think it was just a coincidence.

So who else thinks this is by far Coldplay's weakest album yet?
Simply put from my perspective: MX underrated but still is middle of the road compared to other albums in my personal rankings. I can conceive of it being the weakest album (I don't think so, but I can respect it if followed up with legit reasonings) but to say that it is by far is a stretch. I don't see how OP called it a safe album. I think it's anything but given this hip hop infusion and a collab. Safe would be if they repeated exactly what they did before and if it sounded similar to what worked. To be honest, I wouldn't mind hearing this 'safe sounding' album :p. i'm not afraid to say I want AROBTTH II or Parachutes II. having said that, I repect them for trying something new. Perhaps you're seeing something from a different angle i'm missing.

Noel Gallagher
Yeah, he would never collab with any other male artists

MX Still Intresting???
I think a collection of the band, the fans and their preconceptions are hindering the experience of MX and answers why some are finding the album not so interesting after a few listens. The band: I personally don't see the benefit of playing so many songs before the album is even announced. 2-3 songs maybe, but playing 11/14 is far too much. The fans: To be fair, an average fan wouldn't have been following the band as closely as most of us on this forum have. In following them to the degree that we have, we have heard more content than perhaps we should have. Basically ruining the surprise of new songs. Preconceptions: I personally did not like the drum machine in "Up In Flames" or the hip hop influence, but this was after I gave the songs many listens. However, to look at a song's performers and see Rihanna's name and make a snap judgement based on what you think you know about her is ignorant and the basis of so much that is wrong with humanity. Hip hop is not my thing but I kept an open mind and enjoyed the songs as a whole regardless of some of its composition. All in all, if you like the album (or any album, or any thing!) you will continue to go back to it and it will remain relevant and interesting. If you don't like the album, there is little to no chance of convincing you. You can say you don't like the album because it's not your taste but you can't say it's because it's bad; yes there's a difference.
