I saw something similar somewhere on the net, thought it was fun, and thought it would provide discussion. Basically, spend $20 or less from any column and design the LP8 era. Have fun

So perhaps one of the other things I love the most besides Coldplay is hockey, so this video kinda blends the two. Mobile Link: https://www.facebook.com/NHL/videos/10155003780557466/ Just be sure to avoid the comment section....

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
I recall when it came out during global citizen some users feeling kinda underwhelmed about it. I think now that the era is over, that still true for me. It's not a song on my day-to-day playlist, but if it comes up on shuffle, I can sit through it / tolerate it, lol.

^ha, I said the same thing in the Noel thread. Clearly some influences there, along with Noel's kaleidoscope theme in some of his recent videos.

I think the fear some have been having though is that Coldplay are trending towards the 'crap we see these days in the world of pop/rock'. I'm paraphrasing what I perceive to be the opinion of the other side. Personally, I'm more likely to give them a chance due to history. I was like that with the new Noel Gallagher album as well. To be honest, I heard the first single and if it was anyone else, I wouldve tossed it in the bin, but I gave it more chances just 'cause its Noel. I've been trying to figure out why, but my best guess is that I put a lot of stock in the 'familiarity' of the singer's voice. I'm just so accustomed to Chris and Noel singing that whatever they sing, i'm buying it at this point. I don't know what that says about me as a music fan and as a customer, but I also don't care. It sounds good to me, it's my money, i'm happily paying for it.

Oh, I thought Apple Music only had the audio, not video as well. That's cool. So hopefully someone can upload it from AM to Youtube then. To be fair, that original uploader never said HD, they said high quality. I remember googling this years ago and this is and was the highest quality one available. HD technically starts at 720, but this is 480 max. Not sure if QHD (1440) and above was really a thing back in 2012 when this was uploaded.

*2003 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kuJblxS6ij0 Mobile Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kuJblxS6ij0 I think that performance always comes to mind if I were to fully mould Coldplay into the band I want them to be in terms of music, emotion, instrumentation, stage presence, etc. -It's Coldplay performing what I believe is their best song, hands down. -Their best song made even better with the extra orchestral pieces. -Their 'costumes' for that era were my favourite. Not cartoony like recently, more darks, more 'normal' and sophisticated -To top it off, you see Chris in his original, natural habitat and i'm really glad the camera work showed this off: during the bridge/post bridge of the song you see him completely lose his shit, the camera spins around and you see the crowd kinda calm and just there, but Chris is still just losing himself in the music not caring that on mute, he looks a bit silly humping the piano the such. It's what I (wanted) to be like whenever I listen to Coldplay or tell someone I listen to Coldplay. To say, I don't care, I love this band/music and I don't care if you don't.

Im not a tabloid guy, but I guess we could use some news since we're in the offseason: https://ca.yahoo.com/news/gwyneth-paltrow-brad-falchuk-engaged-174022028.html tldr: Gwyneth Paltrow and Brad Falchuk engaged for a year, but have kept it a secret.

Didn't want to spoil, but Vico broke the ice, so here we go. After hearing the legitimately released tracks, I was a bit worried this might be too out there for my tastes. Call me a pleb if you must, but if Noel gave me the same formula, I would not complain. The album is clearly from Noel but its also clear that some new influences have been taking affect. Trying not to spoil anything, on my first listen, I enjoyed the first half a lot more than the second half; I did not like the second half at all. As I write this, I just got home after a 1 hour long drive listening for at least the 3rd full time around and I'm actually liking the second half a lot more. I still don't like it quite as much as the first half, but perhaps its my car's stereo system which made me appreciate the layers and bass a bit more. It was also kind of Noel to throw it the bonus tracks to show he can still produce some good Noel-rock (wish Coldplay would do that more as well sometimes)! My standout track so far is 'Keep On Reaching'. I still think its a bit too far out there for me to place it in front of LP1 or 2, but the worst Noel album is still better than most.

Well, from the responses above you, you're gonna have a hard time defining what 'good' means....

Not to put too much stock into Chris's speech at the end of the tour, but making LP8 along the same lines as AHFOD would not make Coldplay 'full of surprises'.

Not sure how you can say that. These are the number of months between adjacent eras. PARA-RUSH: 14 RUSH-XY: 21 XY-VIVA: 15 VIVA-MX: 19 MX-GS: 17 GS-DREAMS: 17 No wildly extreme numbers there. The max minus min number there is 7 months, and those came with the first 2 eras. Data shows they're trending in a more stable line now. I mean you can't just throw out numbers because you don't like them. I also originally thought about including tour length in there, but yes, GS tour length was shorter than usual, but it was also a non-factor in the overall equation, so I left it out entirely in favour of gap between end tour date and adjacent album release date. The gap b/w GS and AHFoD was exactly the same as MX and GS and only 2 months shorter than Viva and MX. The GS era 'abnormality' does not appreciably change the 1.5 year average. If you really wanna play that way, that 17.2 average changes to a 17.1 average. Big whoop. And I changed it to a more easy-to-remember 1.5 years for the sake of the sound bite.

Note, they're never taken a full 2 years off. Coming off my old post here (which was fairly accurate [i was only 1 month off]), you can see that. I'll also throw in an updated version with a new estimate. Note, the new data received from the LP7 era did not drastically change the overall average. I still firmly believe in a 1.5 year wait for us starting now.

Well duh, the media would say that. Not to get all 'tin-foil-hat' on you, but the media's job is to sell, not to inform. A headline of "Coldplay's Last Album" is going to catch your attention more than anything. Chris also said numerous times he likes other types of music as well, but no one pays attention to that because they only focus/hear about the EDM stuff, 'cause they dislike it the most. Yeah, he likes EDM, but did he suddenly dislike U2, Johnny Cash, Sigur Ros, Jay-Z, Pavarotti, Rihanna?
