Where / what is a Strawberry Swing?

I'm gonna steal what I think was crestingwaves who said it (cant remember or be bothered searching). But it could be sister song to a b-side, like X&Y and The World Turned Upside Down, or Talk and Ladder to the Sun. There is hope.

I think they were aiming for the shoegazer sound, which typically has low mixed vocals.

Actually listening to X&Y makes it harder to listen to Viva la Vida. Now when I hear Death and All His Friends I think of it as a weak version of Fix You which shouldn't be. I just love X&Y too much!

I love Reign of Love. So it's not the strongest track on the album but it definately has it's place. ASARY is a b-side, which is where it belongs

When I read the first sentance I thought you were absolutely crazy! Then I read the rest and I agree, it's far too good to be destroyed by radio airplay. Last single wouldn't hurt though... :laugh3:

There's your problem. All the songs are good enough to be 1st single.

I still prefer X&Y. But that's not stopping me from loving VLV!

I hope for some b-sides. Though we'll probably get some live songs/acoustics if any. :rolleyes:

Now that we've all heard the album, what songs do you think would be likely singles? There are 2 singles left assuming they stick to the 4 single routine, though a 5th one may be in limited release in some countries. Right now I'm pretty doubtful that 42 will be released. Lovers in Japan is probably next, and they'll probably release Death and All His Friends afterwards since it's been on Grey Anatomy and such. So far we know 1. Violet Hill 2. Viva la Vida 3. Lovers In Japan (maybe) 4. ???

You're absolutely right, just because it's the bands highest ever charting song in the US as well as all the promo CDs being sent around pretty much confirms that Viva la Vida will definately never be a single, right?

:laugh3: True. I have total respect for those who love Parachutes and loathe X&Y, they're both two different stages of Coldplay. I seem to have a habit of going against the crowd, one of my favourite Radiohead albums is Hail To The Thief, and my favourite Gomez album is Split The Difference for instance.

Life In Technicolor - 7 Cemeteries Of London - 9 Lost? - 7 42 - 6 Lovers In Japan - 8 Reign Of Love - 7 Yes - 9 Chinese Sleep Chant - 9 Viva la Vida - 8 Violet Hill - 9 Strawberry Swing - 9 Death And All His Friends - 8 The Escapist - 6 Overall, X&Y is still my favourite, AROBTTH is still my second favourite and Parachutes is still my least favourite. Having said that, it's still a bloody brilliant album anyhow! I'm thinking of doing a proper review later on.

The guy who leaked it only leaked the songs we havent heard yet, so the version of Life In Technicolor is exactly the same as the one we already have (the crappy video rip) which I for one am very peeved about.

Surprisingly, I'm not digging 42 and I'm kinda glad it wasnt a single now. My top 5 in no order so far (without having heard the album that much) would have to be Violet Hill Cemeteries Of London Chinese Sleep Chant Yes Strawberry Swing I think...

Hm... I really like this album but X&Y still remains me fav which is slightly disappointing really but I guess you cant beat a really good album like that. This album could be my 2nd favourite, I think it's tied with AROBTTH at the moment. I may have to listen to AROBTTH again to decide.

You're quite right, they're not. The version of Viva La Vida is off iTunes. The version of Violet Hill is off coldplay.com The version of Life In Technicolor is ripped from that video. None are album versions. Plus, in the torrent I downloaded, the above 3 were in MP3 format, the others were in WMA.
