  1. Not you, silly billy, James Morrison! I'm sure you're lovely too though.
  2. Yay, another excuse to say how much I love Strawberry Swing. This is quickly becoming my favourite Coldplay song ever. A whole album of this effortless, chilled-out bliss would be lovely.
  3. I've met James and he 's an incredibly nice guy.
  4. I watched Jeremy Gilley's film about Peace One Day last night and it was really inspiring. Go to the website, watch the film, organise an event, believe it's possible. http://www.peaceoneday.org/
  5. Fixed replied to Sternly's topic in The Lounge
Mich is loverly. I want to give you a cuggle.
  6. How about Phil Spector.
  7. The X Factor. I wish it would go away. I wish the scummy people that go on it and sing in those cringeful, generic, Barbie-doll American accents would shut up.
  8. I don't have Chris Nelson's address but I'll see if I can get it for you...
  9. I love the rough, raw vibe of Parachutes and I'd be interested to see what they came up with if he produced another of their albums in the future. My friend knows Ken's son. I think he's called Chris.
  10. The Keane Documentary, 'Strangers', is excellent. There's some uncomfortable scenes where they're not getting on, not communicating with each other and have basically stopped having fun. Watch from 4:00 onwards when Rich is asked if he's excited, Tim is asked if the band are getting on well, and Tom is asked how he is. They are evidently pissed off, and although it's quite hard to watch, it's a great insight into the effects that touring can have on a band's friendship: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dq4u1iljV44]YouTube - keane documentary pt6(strangers)[/ame] This starts off with the joy and elation of winning a Brit award for best album, and is followed by a conversation between the band about how they're not getting on any more. Really fascinating stuff really: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dBk1wAti0sg]YouTube - Keane documentary pt7(strangers)[/ame]
  11. I'll help you out. Where do I go?
  12. A Whisper followed by Chinese Sleep Chant would be pretty amazing.
  13. The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas - 10/10 Really good adaptation of the book (which is a very good read and I recommend it!) I knew what happens at the end but that didn't stop my heart from beating at an extremely dangerous pace as the end drew nearer. The boy that played Shmuel was incredible, and Bruno's naivety and confusion about the Holocuast and Auschwitz was captured really well. AND David Thewlis (Lupin from Harry Potter!) was in it, and he is always terrific. Go and see this - it's thought provoking, the music is lovely and really adds a lot to the atmosphere of the film, and it's an overall very good film. Take some tissues though because there's a good chance you'll cry, like me.
  14. I loved this! And this...
  15. How do you actually play the main piano riff from Lovers In Japan? The notes are G A G B A G A G B B, but none of the sheet music seems to agree.
  16. I tried to layer the acoustic version with the album version in Audacity to get the drumbeat and the piano on one track, but the acoustic version is slower, and speeding it up would make it sound silly. I don't know if there's any other way of doing this?
  17. I was listening to the Fellowship soundtrack the other day and it is great isn't it. The Time Machine has some gorgeous music too: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0VQ98Qi5C9A]YouTube - Time machine - Godspeed[/ame]
  18. Therein lies the problem; too many bands follow the Coldplay formula. Maybe I'm just being a cynical young fart.
  19. I agree with your post.
  20. Coldplay are not the best band this century. Well, it depends how you define 'best' I suppose. Anyway. How do you mean "close to Coldplay"? I don't think there can be LOADS of bands 'like Coldplay', i.e. big, famous, everyone knows them. There's only room for a few bands like that, that's not to say that there aren't bands out there who are just as good as Coldplay or even better. There are loads of bands I like a lot who HAVE consistently released great albums for many years and who I sometimes like more than Coldplay, but they're never in a million years going to get as 'big' as Coldplay. It's the media and the industry that raise these kind of bands up - people were looking for another Radiohead/U2, and the press latched on to Coldplay and bigged them up. Hey presto. It could easily have happened to another band.
