G-ATE summit??
Isn't it tradition in China NOT to finish what's on your plate? Anyone have any stats as to how much food gets wasted as a result of that...

Is Anyone Else...
What is it about these lyrics that you dislike? Can you relate to them? How would you have worded those sentiments? I don't understand what you mean by this either - you don't like the drums on this album? There is drumming on it, and it was done by Will, therefore he has done his job as a drummer right? I don't agree with the Brit Pop thing at all - Brit Pop died a long time ago, and Viva isn't anything like what Brit Pop was/is at all, is it?

who writes music and lyrics
I was really interested to hear that Guy helped mould the main drum beat for In My Place - I think Will said that they'd originally been messing around with a drum machine and they tried to recreate it live but couldn't get it right. But then Guy somehow managed to get it sounding how they wanted it to sound...??? Is that right or am I talking nonsense again?!

Guy included on a list of great bassists
Actually I genuinely don't know what I was talking about, ignore me! Just had a closer listen to the bass on the album and it's not as bad as I was for some reason convincing myself; not bad as in Guy's ability, but the mixing of it etc. I think my ears may need cleaning! And yes, the bass in Violet Hill is incredibly amazing - I love watching Guy play that live; he really gets into it and does this thing with his hips and he's bopping his head. What a dude.

Male or Female
It was a close one, but I decided on voting male.

Guy included on a list of great bassists
I wish Guy's bass had been a bit louder on the new album. I know it's not usually the loudest instrument you can hear, but I think Guy gets totally lost on Viva amidst all the other noises that are going on.

Mixtape Exchange
This should be a semi-regular thing - there's about a million songs I wanted to include, but if I did my mixtape would have taken 10 kazillion days to listen to.

The Beatles

Global Warming: Is The Debate Over?
Surely all the crap that comes out of a car's exhaust pipe alone must be doing some damage to the environment? Then again I don't know what percentage of that is crap and what's been cleaned or whatever by the catalytic converter. Maybe I should watch An Inconvenient Truth...

The Beatles
Happy Beatles Day! LIVERPOOL is to celebrate the greatest ever pop band with the world’s first Beatles Day. The event on July 10 will mark the 44th anniversary of the Fab Four’s triumphant homecoming to Liverpool after they conquered America in 1964.

Mixtape Exchange
I take it you have WinRar installed on your computer? If you do, then just highlight all of the tracks and right click on one of them, and click on "Add to archive". Once the .rar file is made, go to megaupload.com, or similar, and click 'Browse' and then search for the .rar file you just made and click 'open'. Type in a meaningful description and tick the 'I accept terms and conditions' box, then 'Send'. When it has finished uplaoding the upload bar will turn green and a link to the file will appear near the top of the screen (on Megaupload anyway).

Confess Your Weird Celebrity Crush!
Yummy.

Confess Your Weird Celebrity Crush!
That's actually funny you should say that, because I fancy the pants off Serena Williams, but I wasn't sure if that actually was weird or not. I personally think she's gorgeous, but everyone I say that to gives me funny looks - so I guess she counts as a weird celebrity crush? EDIT: Being the perve I am, I Googled the photoshoot she did for Jane magazine and have come to the conclusion that Serena Williams is NOT a weird celebrity crush - she's stunning!

Confess Your Weird Celebrity Crush!
Sue Barker's a bit kinky isn't she. It was the church comments at the BBC Sports Personality Awards that sealed it: Interviewing Gavin Henson's rugby coach: "You were 33-1 to win the Six Nations this year. Now you are 16-1. If you can keep Henson out of Church going into it... what are the chances?" (his girlfriend being Charlottoe Church). Rather then erupting into laughter the audience remained in a shocked silence while several sports stars were seen shaking their heads and looking pretty embarrassed. I think Sue was even stunned that she said that - one of the most bizarre things I've ever seen on TV. Speaking of Katie Holmes... it's great whenever Graham Norton shows a pic of her with Tom Cruise and he starts saying stuff like, "HELP!", "SAVE ME!" on behalf of Katie :P

The Verve
Wow, amazing video, thanks for the link! Visually stunning, and the actual song is growing on me more and more! Album artwork: I love it - hopefully the album will be as epic and beautiful as the artwork.

[Article] In defense of Coldplay
Yeah I've never heard that Kanye West lyric either!

The Perv Unit
Aleja is going to post her ass online?! Time for some right-click/save action I think.
-
Will LIT have a different name on the next album?
I think the version with lyrics is going to be called "Coldplay and their Amazing Technicolor Life".
-
What is your favourite Coldplay song today?
Life In Technicolor! Soooooo lovely.

Music shops in Birmingham, Manchester, Nottingham and Liverpool
It's Beatles Day this Thursday actually - there is going to be a parade and loads of other cool stuff. L'pool is Capital of Culture this year so there should be something fun to do while you here. There are 120 superlambananas in total - although 1 is in London for some reason, and 1 is on top of a mountain in Wales. They are basically statues/models of a lamb with a banana coming out of its rear end - sound horrible, but they look rather cool. The Super Lamb Banana was the original work of Japanese-based artist Taro Chiezo. The unusual artwork was created to warn of the dangers of genetically modified food, whilst being appropriate to the city of Liverpool due to the port's rich history in the trade of lambs and the import of bananas. http://www.superlambbanana.com/home.php?/home http://www.gosuperlambananas.co.uk/

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince Film Thread
I've actually had the Philosopher's Stone since about 2000, but for some reason never got round to reading it. So a few weeks ago I finally deicded to read it, and then ordered the other 6 from Amazon as soon as I finished it because I loved it so much. I wish I'd been a fan back when I was at school - all my friends really loved the books and the films and talked about them loads, I always felt left out!

No problem Nina! Where are you from by the way - how long will you be staying in England for? Also, I guess you'll have your camera with you - make sure you take some pics of the Superlambananas in Liverpool!

Music shops in Birmingham, Manchester, Nottingham and Liverpool
Liverpool: Zavvi has a huge sale on at the moment so you might get some really good cheap CDs and DVDs - I got the 2-Disc Prisoner of Azkaban DVD for £5 the other day :D Probe Records is a really good independent music shop, you will find some nice stuff in there: http://www.probe-records.com/ Hairy Records on Bold Street is another good one. Oxfam on Bold Street, they sell some good CDs at ridiculous prices. HMV of course, I think that is now in the L1 shopping centre, not too sure. Quiggins (now called Grand Central I think) - it's full of quirky, cool, 'alternative', interesting shops and a nice little record store too (downstairs). Quiggins is where the scene kids hang out, bless them.
