  1. They're tabbed here: http://www.coldplaying.com/forum/showthread.php?t=44292
  2. Alicia Keys and Jack White have recorded the theme tune for the next James Bond film, Quantum of Solace. R&B singer Keys has teamed up with the star of rock bands White Stripes and The Raconteurs for Another Way to Die, the first duet in Bond theme history. The announcement follows speculation that the job would go to British stars Amy Winehouse, Duffy or Leona Lewis. Quantum of Solace, which will see Daniel Craig return as 007, will be released later this year. Winehouse was working on a theme with producer Mark Ronson - but that was scrapped because Ronson said the singer was not up to recording. The new partnership sees the slick and soulful Keys team up with raw and bluesy rocker White. Despite their different musical backgrounds, both are leading figures in the US scene, with 18 Grammy Awards between them. White has written, produced and played drums on the track. The film's producers Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli said: "We are delighted and pleased to have two such exciting artists as Jack and Alicia." The musicians "were inspired by our film to join together their extraordinary talents in creating a unique sound for Quantum of Solace", the producers said. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7532438.stm
  3. I think that hell is a state of a mind (Disclaimer: In my own personal opinion I mean - God hasn't told me or shown me... I'm just speculating).
  4. 1. Is this Supergrass. I don’t really know them very well and I’ve been meaning to listen to them for ages. I was ok on first listen, maybe I’ll need to listen a few times to really get into it. 2. I really like this a lot. Reminded me a bit of Tegan and Sara. Good, short 3 minute pop-song, catchy, nice music. The singer has a cool voice too. I’ll have to check this band out some more for sure. 3. Nice melody, but might be a bit of a grower. It didn’t really grab me, but it was a pleasant song, nice voice and nice instrumentation. Reminded me of The Feeling. 4. This is Yael Naim! I’ve heard bits of this song a few times, and on a car advert too I think, but never heard it all the way through. I really love this. I can’t really compare it to anything else. Her voice is really lovely and interesting, it’s a good quirky song. I’ll definitely be checking out some more of her music! The wind instruments give it a nice feel towards the end too, and the piano sounds really nice too. 5. Pleasant song, but didn’t really get me excited. 6. Nice bass-line and guitar intro. I quite liked this, the singer’s voice was calm and understated and smooth. I really liked the simple drum pattern too. I’d really like to know who this band is so I can check them out some more. 7. The guitar reminded me a bit of Coldplay actually; anthemic, chiming sound and then edgy at the chorus. Cool voice too. I’d like to hear some more of this. 8. Didn’t really do anything for me. 9. I really like the beat/handclaps and the strings. I don’t know what language she is singing in, but I like it, very sexy! Who is she? Really catchy, has a motown vibe to it, which is very cool. Makes me think of sun, summer and dancing. I love this! 10. This was an instrumental track. It was a bit ‘heavier’ than what I usually listen to. Went along at a hectic pace with loads of distorted guitars. 11. I don’t know what language this was in. It kind of passed me by. He rools his ‘R’s very nicely though! 12. This is Muse by the sound of it. I don’t recognise this track. I’m only familiar with Black Holes & Revelations but they are on my list of bands to listen to more. Again this was a bit heavier than what I’m used to and I’m yet to really dig that kind of music, but I quite liked it all the same. 13. The guitar riffs were nice, but I couldn’t really get into it. 14. This was some band singing All My Loving by The Beatles. It was a pleasant enough version, but it just doesn’t touch the original at all. It could be any band singing it, there was no emotion in the singers voice and they didn’t seem to add any of their own style to it. 15. “You’re such an asshole when you’re drunk” – I can relate to those lyrics :P I liked the references to Jesus too. I liked the strings and the synths and the vintage piano sounds. Really good song. I’d like to hear some more of this band’s music.
  5. It's really unfair how God answers your prayers but not mine. I guess I backed the wrong horse.
  6. Some people call Embrace piano-led wanky ballad boys. I call them fucking immense:
  7. I've not heard anything yet, but to be fair the deadline was 31st July, so I've not really got any grounds for complaining!
  8. I definitely haven't forgotten those songs, as I'm sure a lot of other fans haven't either :D Yeah it would be nice for some of them to make it onto the albums, but they can't include everything I guess.
  9. So far this summer I have discovered Harry Potter (read the first 5 books within a few weeks and am now on to the Half-Blood Prince!) and Tegan and Sara (listened to their first 3 albums a lot and soon going to go on to 4 and 5). I also found out I passed my uni exams and realised I still have no idea what I want to do after my final year of uni. Oh, and Coldplay released an album, so that was pretty amazing!
  10. There is an interview with Tim on the new Keane Backline website: http://www.keanebackline.info/features/interviews/tim_jul08/
  11. Someone just posted on the Keane forum that Ben Jones has heard the new Keane single. It's called Spiraling and will be released as a free download on 4th August! Apparently, Ben also said that the new record has a very 80s feel to it.
  12. I'd love to see a video for this where people actually storm a palace and overthrow the king and graffiti VIVA LA VIDA over the paintings. I really love that image.
  13. She made a film called Alicia In Africa as part of the Keep A Child Alive campaign. You can buy it or download it for free here (although it might be nice to buy it seeing as it's for charity!) http://www.aliciainafrica.com/ http://www.keepachildalive.org/
  14. I just asked if Guy smokes.
  15. Fixed replied to Tonsu's topic in Lost!
Ah really? I can't hear it - maybe I need to turn the volume up a bit.
  16. Fixed replied to sophie89's topic in Coldplay
Any links to these quotes, i.e. video/audio etc, would be much appreciated. I'd love to hear those form the horses mouths so to speak!
  17. Do people like Zac Efron? He's meant to be "omg so hot" but every pic I've seen of him he just looks creepy.
  18. Wow it started in 2005!
  19. I have 2 older brothers and my ring and index fingers are the same length. And yes, John Barrowman's Scottish accent is amazing :D
  20. I'd love to hear one of the early demos for this with the full drum kit - I'm sure Guy said they started off doing it with a snare drum.
  21. Does anyone know what the difference is between these 2 books: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Alicia-Keys-As-I-Am/dp/1423435842/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1217198072&sr=1-2 http://www.amazon.co.uk/As-Am-Piano-Vocal-Guitar/dp/0571531725/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1217198072&sr=1-6 There are sometimes a couple of versions of sheet music available, a shit one and not so bad one - I don't want to end up getting the shit one that is nothing like the actual music.
  22. I have a few photos of Superlambananas that I took, I'll upload them soon.
  23. There is a series on BBC at the moment called The Making Of Me. The first episode was about John Barrowman trying to find out what makes him gay - is it nature or nurture? I encourage everybody to watch this, gay or straight. I don't know if it's available outside the UK, if not maybe someone could rip it etc: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00cr1ht It is really interesting...
