  1. I can't wait to finish reading all of the books so I can join in the Harry Potter discussions - I've bypassed all the posts in this thread incase there are any spoilers; I've just started reading the Goblet of Fire.
  2. I think that's in the Ricky and Mark interview in the latest Q Magazine.
  3. Whoop whoop, how exciting!
  4. I was in a shop in Spain and I said rather loud, "Usted ha roto mi burro de ceramica" (aplogies for any bad spelling!) - that got quite a few odd looks, and someone even laughed!
  5. Mario Ancic (tennis player): Ralph Macchio (The Karate Kid):
  6. Thanks for the tip Rob, I'll download Orbit an have a go...

That's a heck of a fine answer :D They released their first EP in 1992, "Verve EP", and a B-Sides album in 1994 called No Come Down. I think I have them somewhere so I'll upload them.
  8. Laura Robson won!!! Whoop whoop :D
  9. I hope Galatasaray have a good medical team in place for when Harry Kewell arrives. Thank f**k he's finally gone, although there's probably some clause in his contract that means Liverpool have to carry on paying some of his wages for a year or two (like Leeds apparently had to when he joined Liverpool).
  10. Just found this, WM Capture. I've tried it on a few BBC iPlayer videos and it works really well. The trial only lets you rip 2mins worth of video at a time though - I don't know how much the full version costs: http://www.wmrecorder.com/wm_capture.php http://www.wmrecorder.com/ http://www.3things.be/internet/ripping-bbc-iplayer-streamed-video/
  11. I thougt you could use Firefox as your web browser and right click on a page and save everything that's on that page, like jpg files and flv/swf videos etc?
  12. Wha's the best way to rip videos from the BBC website? There's some vids I wanna keep from here: http://search.bbc.co.uk/cgi-bin/search/results.pl?tab=av&q=Wimbledon%20Unplugged&recipe=all&scope=all&edition=
  13. It's Will beating a bass drum with a few rolls on a timpani/kettle drum before the chorus I think, and some massive orchestra sized cymbals and a lovely bell.

I'm sure I heard Si Jones playing that bass line at the very end of Love Is Noise at Glastonbury - he's such a tease.
  15. Lost isn't very good - there's a great video on YouTube of someone that takes you through the song and shows you how to play the version Chris plays on the acoustic version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J_c-5454tRE
  16. I don't know how accurate they are, but Sheet Music Direct has the sheet music for every song available online: http://www.sheetmusicdirect.com/ViewAlbum.aspx?albumId=1154&arrangement=PVG&kbid=1122&emc=lm&m=491109&l=9&v=1921951

Coldplay92: What do you think of the bass at the start of Come On from Urban Hymns? Does it rock your socks as much as it rocks mine?

Yes that's right, I guess it was the Magic Shop Studios in New York that the album booklet is referring to - I think Guy said in an interview recently that they recorded some of the album in the Magic Shop Studios, and while they were there they found a tack piano, and they liked the sound it made, so when they got back home they bought an old piano and stuck drawing pins into the hammers to replicate that sound; and I think it's from that piano that the lovely riff from Lovers In Japan comes. Unless... they did actually record it in a magic shop with David Copperfield providing backing vocals???.................. There is some footage of Keane recording in the Magic Shop on their Under The Iron Sea DVD, if any of you are interested to know what it looks like! http://www.magicshopny.com/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tack_piano
  19. Can I join this thread please? I don't fancy starting a "Twenty-somethings that are depressed with how old they feel" thread :P (or is that just me...)

Hmm, I downloaded Mover and I'm not that impressed. Maybe I need to listen to it a few times to 'get it'. And Sonnet is great isn't it! It's amazing live, especially the "Here we gooo aaaagain" bit.
  21. The Prince song is actually an original track not a cover :) Here's Neil Young: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U9OBw7yQEzg Here's the Prince song: http://video.aol.com/video/music-prince-cinnamon-girl/1199842 (only available in USA I think) The video for the song has generated controversy, especially from conservatives in the United States. In the video a Muslim girl (played by New Zealand actress Keisha Castle-Hughes) is depicted as being victimized following the 9/11 Attacks and then dreaming of blowing up an airport with a bomb. While the New York Post described the video as the most tasteless ever, the American Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee has praised the video for bringing attention to the discrimination faced by Arab-Americans since 9/11. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cinnamon_Girl_(Prince_song)
  22. Does anyone know "Cinnamon Girl" from his Musicology album? That's one of my most favourite songs ever :D The video for it caused a bit of controversy though.

Enschede, Holland (I think it is a city anyway)
  24. Yeah I saw that interview too. Didn't one of them say even after doing this show they wouldn't fancy modelling because the industry is just too fickle? That's a shame as I thought the point of the BBC3 show was to encourage disabled people that they CAN model, not to discourage them by showing yet again what a f**ked up industry it can be. Anyone should be allowed to model, regardless of ability/disability, and I hugely resent that fashion expert saying that the world isn't "ready" for disabled models - nonsense.
