Does a band's most recent album determine if you see them on tour or not?
This is a really great question! I would take into account how extensive of a back catalog the band had before their last album. For example a band like U2 has so much great music that even though you might not have liked the last album you know you are still going to hear a lot of songs you love at the show. On the other hand if a band only has one or two albums before they lose you then it might not be worth it to go. Again… very interesting question man!

It's All Just Opinion
Thank you so much! Now that I have gotten my gold star and more or less derailed my own thread i am off for the night... i'maveryneatMonster i am sure will argue about something again soon!

It's All Just Opinion
fair enough! that's the one thing I hate about message boards or texting... you can't always tell if someone is kidding or not and thats where the misunderstandings start. now give me my gold stars!
-
It's All Just Opinion
lol... actually i was just trying to make light of the situation cause it was months ago and it was never that big of a deal to begin with! i was really just trying to be nice... i wasnt trying to argue with you or look for ways to deflect from my original point. you seem like a fairly articulate and spirited person and i was just trying to be cool with you is all...

It's All Just Opinion
i was just kidding about the gold stars you know and i would never dream of blaming the internet for anything. without the internet i wouldnt not have the chance to speak to delightful people such as yourself! :)
-
It's All Just Opinion
that's me... always wanting gold stars for walking places. when i was little i would demand silver stars for crawling places but as I got older (and learned to walk) greed took hold of me. now all i desire are those precious gold walking stars.

It's All Just Opinion
you've forgotten our classic debate over why people who bought the physical copy of The King of Limbs in stores didn't get the butcher/supercollider bonus tracks. well, i dont want to go there again... :)

Rate the new Coldplay song in 24 hours
Or they might just have different musical tastes then yours and actually just like it based on those tastes. To think that you understand why someone like something better then they do seems a little odd to me. Maybe they just like the song for what it is... just saying.

It's All Just Opinion
in no way did i mean to make light of any off those issues it was simply a sarcastic jab at josh42's comment about taking a stand against the jonas brothers although im well aware thats not the point he was trying to make. i've argued with you before in the world of music section so i know you understand sarcasm ;)

It's All Just Opinion
I never said they were not more important then blindly following a band... I also never said anything to imply that I do blindly follow any band. Honestly in time I think our generation has the potential to overcome some of those very obstacles. I know fully well that Josh was refering to taking a stand against the music indusry putting image before actuall musical talent but I was just ammused by how he worded it. and how exatly did i deflect?

It's All Just Opinion
no, i got the point but thank you for posting that picture. if there is one thing i've always thought this board needed it's more Shaq!

It's All Just Opinion
my point of course being that there are much more important things in this world to rally against then the jonas brothers of course...
-
It's All Just Opinion
ok so Josh42 is going to stand up against teenage girls liking bands because they are attractive... by God it was about time someone had the courage to do this. you got it covered josh? awsome! so that leaves the rest of us with wars, world hunger, cultural oppression, natural disasters and the world wide economic crisis. but you got that teenage girls liking cute bands thing under control right josh? right...
-
It's All Just Opinion
Yeah, I did say that in the first line... but I had a point I wanted to make it and so I did. Why don't you go make ANOTHER five or six threads about how you don't like the song.

It's All Just Opinion
are you being sarcastic or actually agreeing with me?

It's All Just Opinion
I just wanted to take the time to bring attention to something that I would hope that most of us already know... your musical tastes are a matter of opinion. ETIAW is just a song and if you like it... that's great. If you don't like it... that's fine too. No one is right... no one is wrong. There is no reason to try to convince someone that hates the song that they should love it and there is also no reason to tell someone who loves it that they are just fooling themselves for doing so. You just hate it because it's a pop song or you just like it cause you would like anything Coldplay puts out... who cares? At the end of the day everyone is gonna feel how they feel about the song and nothing is gonna change that. Creating multiple posts making fun of the song seems a bit pointless to me but if you love the song and seeing those jokes pisses you off then just stay out of those threads... there is really no reason to go in there and try to defend your point because your not gonna change anyone's mind and that thread wasnt meant for you anyway. The same goes for the other side... if you see a poster raving about the song then just leave them to enjoy it. What's the point of trying to tell them they are wrong or the song is shit... you're not gonna change their mind anymore then they will yours. Demanding in depth reasons for why someone does not agree with you just seems a tad silly and in the end just a waste of time. It is amazing that we have this place to have spirited discussions and debate on our views on music but if you ask me I just think today it got a little out of hand. I'm not trying to tell anyone how or what to post and just know that I respect all of your opinions and most off all your shared passion for music.

The Positive ETIAW Thread
oldmuckers replied to Technicolor Sparks's topic in Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall (Single, EP & video)What part of positive ETIAW thread did you not understand? Why don't you guys all take a hike back to the world of music thread where you can all continue to impress each other with how cool you are...

from Rolling Stone By Jon Dolan June 3, 2011 Chris Martin says Coldplay's upcoming album is influenced by old-school New York graffiti, and in a recent photo the bandmates are dressed in neon chillwear like they just walked off the set of Breakin' 3: A Brit-Pop Odyssey. But the first single doesn't go for the sound of early hip-hop so much as its sense of year-zero possibility. Over a rave-tinged keyboard melody, leavened by producer Brian Eno's rainforest-of-the-soul ambience, Martin sings of kids dancing until morning and heaven inside his headphones. When the drums kick in fully, it moves like "Sunday Bloody Sunday" by way of the Velvets' "Sunday Morning," a flag-waving ode to change-as-inspiration: "I'd rather be a comma than a full stop," Martin sings. Coming from a guy whose critics take him for a human exclamation point, it's a welcome sentiment. 3.5/5

from popcrush.com Coldplay‘s brand new single ‘Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall’ is as big as its title suggests. It is not a ballad, but an uplifting, room-filling Brit pop song laced with the band’s rock ‘n’ roll edge. While Coldplay have endured plenty of Radiohead comparisons throughout their career, they’ve turned the corner here, going for stadium-sized hooks a la U2 with this bold, bright, guitar-driven new song that is steered by Martin’s inimitable voice. Thanks to its massive size and scope, the four-minute monster more than makes up for all the time fans had to wait for new music from the band. At about the three-minute mark, ‘Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall’ balloons with layered harmonies and faster guitar work. It’s as though vocalist (and Gwyneth Paltrow baby daddy) Chris Martin wrote the song with the express intent of performing in a stadium or at the Olympics. (Ahem — the 2012 Olympics will be held in London, so…) When Martin sings, “I turn the music / I got my records on / I shut the world outside until the lights come on / Maybe the streets alright / Maybe the trees are gone / I feel my heart start beating to my favorite song,” he pulls us into his world, where everything around you fades into the background while you focus on what you hear in your headphones. Speaking of which, you will pick up all the nuances of sound via a pair of earbuds. The song doesn’t fade out, either. It ends on a percussive note. You’ll want to listen to it over and over again. It’s a gorgeous mix of Coldplay’s knack for pretty melodies mixed with some escalating guitar work, despite not being nearly as polished as the band’s previous pop songs. The song comes in like a lion and goes out like one, too! 4/5 stars
