The 54th Grammy Award Nominations are announced tonight. Pretty sure that MX came out past the deadline this year but ETIAW should be eligible if I'm not mistaken. Any chances for a nomination?

I may be in the minority here but I actually prefer listening to studio versions over live recordings but having said that there is no feeling in the world like being at the concert yourself.

With the UK stadium shows announced to begin on May 29, a full seven months after the release of MX, I can easily see the release of an EP or at least a Mylo Xyloto: Special Edition as a way to celebrate / promote those shows. It would give the album a nice little boost in sales as well. I wouldn't expect anything before then though...

I have always seen Coldplay as pretty big band, huge in recent years, but it wasnt until the MX era that I started seeing Chris Martin as a celeberty. It seems to me that his own personal fame is starting to exceed his bands. Of course one feeds into the other but you get my point...

To be fair those first day sales estimates are based on Monday. 99.9% of the time new albums come out on Tuesday here in the States. Your casual fan or average consumer would not have even been expecting to buy it on Monday. I would be very interested to see what the numbers were for Tuesday...

How does this compare to the past albums?

I don't want to bring you or your idea down but they were only kidding about it being 85 minutes long... in that very same interview they also said that MX was a jazz record.

as far as what gets added to the "classic" set list I can see Charlie Brown and Us Against the World making the cut. Charlie Brown being a rousing crowd pleaser ala Clocks and Viva la Vida while Us Against the World becomes a cell phones in the air moment for years to come.

Upon hearing Mylo Xyloto Pitchfork will reward it with it's first and only 11.0, promptly shut down the site, and start it back up again a week later as a Dr. Who fan blog. The internet will never be the same again...

I think Rik Simpson and Dan Green will. As far as I know they have been with the band for a while and have performed a number of roles. Part of the Coldplay family really. As far as Eno or Draves I could see them going in another direction for the "head" producer. Not because they are unhappy with the work... more just because I see them wanting something fresh.

For some reason I have always been under the assumption that Tomorrow is an instrumental prelude to Car Kids... this based only on the fact that they were painted together on the album artwork so... I could be wrong.

not totally about car kids but a possible unreleased track: In the making of feature interview on NME Chris says that they have a song on the album that features Juanita Stein of the Howling Bells. This interview was done the day before the album was due so it seems the song was at least a strong contender for making the album right up to the last minute. Maybe Up In Flames took its place... who knows. Is there another female vocal in the mix on the album anywhere that I missed?

My least favorite has to be Up In Flames. I can't help but wonder, knowing that it was done at the last minute, what other long in the works song was left off for its inclusion. I think they were excited about it because it was new, as Im sure they are with many songs, but had it been written two years ago it would be interesting to see if it would have still made the cut.
