Atlas release delayed until 6th September (8th Sept UK)
It was starting to seem like there was way too little promotion for a song that was supposed to come out in less then a week. I mean when you think about it we had the initial announcement and then... nothing. This makes a little more sense now. I think we have a chance of hearing a 30 second clip... a radio station vivit to debut the song... the normal build up to a single. Maybe they feel like they have a huge hit on their hands and wanted to take a little more time to film a video, line up a few appearances... things like that.

Coldplay will release track "Atlas" from "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" soundtrack on 6/8 Sept
Don't they usually debut a new single on a popular UK morning radio show a few days before the official release just to build up more hype? I seem to remember being a part of a few listening parties here at coldplaying while they were doing just that. Those were all for the first singles off of new albums though so this one might not get the same attention.

Coldplay will release track "Atlas" from "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" soundtrack on 6/8 Sept
Last Friday was when they announced the song (if I remember correctly) so I wonder if this Friday they will release a short clip to bulid even more anticipation. When have the 30 second song previews gone up on iTunes before single releases in the past?

Random Coldplay thoughts...
So last week Rolling Stone put out a list of the 50 Greatest Live Acts in the World Today of which Coldplay didn't make the cut at all... odd considering that they are one of the top selling live acts today and have recently come off of a massive world tour (some bands that made the list have not toured in years) that has won industry awards for it's production, road crew, and design team members... Now being a massive fan I am of course biased and I'm not saying they should have been number one... but to not even make the list is garbage in my opinion. It is Rolling Stone so you know....

Coldplay will release track "Atlas" from "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" soundtrack on 6/8 Sept
If this song is even half decent it has a strong chance of reaching number one. Think about it... 01) the promotion of a huge blockbuster to bring in non/casual fans who would not usualy listen to Coldplay... 02) the entire Coldplay fan base buying the stand alone single as it is a non album track and the majority won't be buying the complete soundtrack... 03) first new Coldplay song in a few years already will gain hype... 04) the video will gain the attention of both Hunger Games fans and Coldplay fans pushing the viewing numbers sky high and adding sales. Go to youtube and look at the views on coldplay songs and look at the views on hunger games trailers... now combine them. not to mention it will come out before the grammy deadline as well which means if it is a hit we can expect to see them play it on the show next year. of course if the song is a stinker none of this will matter but if it is a solid song I think it has the potential to go VERY far...

Random Coldplay thoughts...
this is about as random as it gets but I was looking over my Coldplay cds today and does it drive anyone else a little nuts how their Viva carboard sleeve stands out so much against the other jewel cased albums? no, just me... :(

Chris Martin announces solo album + tour
In all honesty I don't mind solo/side projects as long as they don't take away from the productivity of the main band. In some cases it is even a benificial way for the artist to get out some of their more... let's say experimental ideas... that wouldn't quite work on their bands records. It is when you start seein more solo/side project releases then actual original band output that I think it becomes a problem. Having said I would rather see lp6 before a hypothetical Chris Martin solo record.

So lets do what us folks on message boards do best and try and overthink the hell out of a very small bit of information. Here are a few possible reasons that they could be gone for the next 2-3 months. Some are more realsitic (boring) some are not (more fun!). 01) They really are taking a summer break to spend with family. 02) All the work the past few months has been to write / demo songs and they will return in the fall with a producer to get to work on the recording of the new album. Maybe we get it in the Summer of '14 if they stick with what they have been working on. Maybe over the next 2 months Chris has a vision of a concept album about the first civil war on Jupiter, writes 30 new songs, and they start from scratch this fall. We get the album fall '14. 03) All the work the past few months has been recording the album and they are off to New York mix it and then relax while the artwork, manufacturing, and marketing sides of things are worked out and before "the storm"... they pull a Radiohead / Jay Z and drop a suprise fall album. 04) Looking for a new vibe / sound they do what many bands seeking inspiration have done in the past and leave home for a change of scenery to record. but where... berlin? new york? la? 05) Its all a cover up to prevent more bakery visits... they will be there the whole time! or what I think is REALLY happening... 06) Bono and the rest of the guys in U2 have decided that they want to retire but still want U2 to go on as a band making that big cash. So they have hired Coldplay to pose as them for the next album release and promotion. Coldplay will spend the next three months in make up touring the world and doing interviews as U2. This is why Chris was in New York with Bono last month. He was studying his role like Gwen has told him all great actors do.

Chris to sing with Bono on new U2 album?

Chris to sing with Bono on new U2 album?
someone on another U2 board said that they work close to the bakery and asked Chris Martin on the street one day recently if this was true and that Chris just put his finger up to his lips (his own lips not the guys lol...) and just said shhhhhhh and smiled. remember now this is me paraphrasing a complete stranger claiming this on another message board so you know... take it for what its worth.

Are the Bakery visits getting out of hand?
Are the bakery visits getting out of hand? This is a debate that is growing among coldplayers and one that I find very interesting. I personally can see both sides of the argument and an curious to hear other’s opinions. I created a new thread for this poll because I did not know how to add a poll to an existing thread so my apologies to the mods and fellow board members if an additional thread seems unnecessary. Are too many fans starting to visit the bakery too often? Is it becoming a distraction to the band or even worse an invasion of privacy. Or is it just a part of fame that they seem to graciously accept? I will give the guys credit… they do always seem happy to take time for the fans visiting them but when, if ever, will it become too much? It very well could be a much appreciated show of support that motivates them or it could be a growing irritant that they are unsure of how to handle. After all if one of them were to lose their temper with a fan, even after being extremely generous to hundreds of other, which story is going to make the papers. This is where the band creates the music we all love, a place of great interest to fans that anyone would want to see, but it is also where they work… it is an interesting question that really calls upon how much access we should have to those who choose to be public figures and what that means in terms of the private process that is artistic creativity. Answer a simple yes or no in the poll but feel free to state your reasons in the comments.

Warning: The following is me thinking out loud on one of the things I love to think about most... the continuing evolution of the band Coldplay. Follow along if you dare! Has there been any news on who will be producing lp6? I know it was said that Eno would not be involved this time. The source on that being someone who met and talked to the band at the bakery... could still change though I guess. I'm wondering if they will just keep it "in the family" and just use Rik Simpson and Dan Green. It seems like with every album the band becomes more closely knit unit / team and I really love that about them. Maybe it is time for them to let Rik Simpson step up and be the head producer on the new album. It would be easy to argue that he has earned it. Maybe Markus Dravs will be involved again if he is available. Is he working on the new Aracde Fire album still? I don't think Mumford will be back in the studio any time soon. I guess it depends on what stage Coldplay is at right now with lp6. If they are still just working on ideas or there to write then there might be time for Dravs to come in later. Or maybe, as much as I love the Coldplay "faimily", it is time to bring in some fresh blood. Maybe a bold choice no one would expect? Like U2 working with Danger Mouse or Beady Eye working with Dave Sitek. Or a possible reunion... what is Ken Nelson doing these days anyway? Although that could be seen as a step back... Who would you like to see produce a Coldplay album? My not so bold but I think interesting choice would be Scott Litt. Coldplay loves to pay tribute to thier idols and what better way to channel a little REM then to work with the man who made some of thier best albums. Might be a good fit for what is supposed to be a "quieter" album as well. One word: Nightswimming - well, two words crammed togther anyway. Of course I would love for them to find thier "own" Scott Litt or Brian Eno - a name that will be associated with them for years to come. Hmmm... paging Mr. Simpson.

LP6
I wonder how new albums from U2 and Arcade Fire this fall will inspire the band to make lp6 even better. I'm not saying those bands new albums will inform the sound of lp6 in any way but I do know that Coldplay will feel a healthy competition and want to top them.

Arcade Fire
I don't want to burts anyone's bubble but here is the exact quote: "Sources close to beloved Canadian indie rock gods Arcade Fire have told REVOLT TV that music from the follow up of the band’s Grammy Award–winning 2010 album, The Suburbs, will arrive on September 9." the phrase "from the follow up" as opposed to just saying the follow up makes me think that it will be the first single that comes out on 9/9 and not the new album. NME seems to agree... "Revolt TV cites sources close to the band, saying a brand new track will be out this autumn. However, September 9 is not the release date of a new album, which will be the follow up to 2010's 'The Suburbs." Still pretty cool news though.

My gut tells me lp6 will be released in June of 2014 but since my gut has no affiliation with the band it could be very wrong...
