  1. Beautiful, thank you :) Such a shame...I just hope some of my live faves already don't go like that (CSC, SS)...
  2. It wasn't cheap I must say. Just before TicketScam sold out I bought four tickets for myself and my friend, plus little sis and her chap, all seated together in the first tier. But then tickets were released for the day before, and I got the heads-up on here from a very kind soul, and checked the area and they were in a floor block - so what could I do?! I got two and will be taking my friend the first night and going to both nights myself I guess (and despite the screams of my wallet!) The silly thing is, my friend has a box at the O2, and so I could probably go for free at least one night. But i want to sit (!!) with my sis and her man the second night, and treat my mate (and myself!) to the incredible floor tickets the first...
  3. And anyone else think that Caan should be a companion from the end of this episode? I do - he rocks!!
  4. It really is so nice to see this stuff being remembered - and even by those not in the UK! - and I'm so glad that Coldplay took that chance with Chinese Sleep Chant and revisited some of their musical idols :) It's a great song live, too, by the way, really hope they keep it, and dream of them playing it straight after Yes, just like the album. That would be incredible!! The Cure definitely aren't 'shoegaze' by the way, I think that really underestimates them, by pigeon-holing them into a scene they had absolutely nothing to do with, and that actually had very little to do with them either. They were, though, one of the inspirations (or rather some of their songs were) so I understand the reference. And funnily enough, while MBV were the main inspiration of the sound in an aural sense, they were never regarded as part of the movement at the time. The main band in a national (i.e. as decreed by the 'almighty' NME!) sense were Ride, Chapterhouse, and Slowdive. Curve, Lush and others were also hanging around at the time. Anyway my top pics (from those I do consider part of that scene): Ride - Chelsea Girl, Vapour Trail, dreams Burn Down, Taste, Drive Blind. Chapterhouse - Pearl (search out the 12" version!), Autosleeper, Falling Down. Lush - Sweetness and Light. Curve - Ten Little Girls. Slowdive - doesn't matter, they all sounded the same!! (It's a bit harsh I guess, and they were always good live, but so hard to tell one song from another! And the singer did always look at the ground, which is where 'shoegaze' came from I think). Other bands from around that time worth checking out are Galaxie 500 (incredible even today, almost all their stuff), House of Love, Ultra Vivid Scene, and some Pale Saints stuff. Obviously My Bloody Valentine (as much of it as you ears will allow! :D); Loveless and the To Here Know When E.P. are gold.
  5. I'm a huge Spurs fan, always have been :) We all were extremely happy to win the Carling Cup this season, beating two of our biggest rivals (among the best teams in Europe also) along the way. As obviously any team outside the 'big four' would be. We should have done much much better in the UEFA the last two seasons though, most of us fans of the Spurs know that. This season's going to be a big one for us and I can't wait. Juande's building a very decent team indeed :)
  6. I think there will be at least two Doctors in the final episode - and perhaps more than one of them played by Tennant.
  7. Yes it's pretty much perfect in my book - I may not get to Heaven, but at least I've heard this album!! :)
  8. George is my all-time hero, but I haven't yet ever listened to this full album :embarassed: I shall do so very soon, and come back and post my thoughts, and thus redeem myself lol :)
  9. Not much anymore, no, though there's always a chance.
  10. So do I till I remember how long I've been going to gigs!! :laugh3:
  11. Ah, the Cure! First saw them live in August 1990 or 1991 (I think!) at the lake at Crystal Palace. We all changed out of our school-clothes on the train :) Supported by Lush and James that day in the sunshine, and the House of Love among very many others were in the audience, it was a real event at the time. Shake Dog Shake was especially good, The Walk, Caterpillar, Inbetween Days, Primary, A Forest... *dreams*
  12. Not at the moment but who's to say it might not in the future? Why would I want to live in a country that effectively forces any minority group into accepting laws from whoever heads that minority group, rather than from the country they live in?
  13. mc_squared I have no idea what you have written, but I'm sure it as a simple pun or schoolboy joke, and no doubt at my expense. As I told you on my last post, you are on block by me upon moderator's advice. My advice then to you is to stop stalking me around this forum with your pathetic one-liners. Thanks.
  14. So am I. Unfortunately I'm one of them!! :stunned: I've started really thinking where I'm going to emigrate to...(seriously)
  15. Really nice post and thread. I came of age musically speaking in '89/'90 and so saw loads of these bands live at the time and was totally submerged in all of this. Don't forget, though, that 'shoegazing' very quickly became a derogatory label that in the end effectively finished all these bands off! It all started in 1989 (when I was fourteen) and was limping towards the end in early 1992. The peak in every sense was 1990.
  16. I won't reply to most of your ridiculous assertions, but I will say that I've seen lots of good things from the way this board is run in the four years I've been visiting, and have never said otherwise. I've just pointed out your bevahiour on this thread, which looks like trolling, and questioned why it's been tolerated in this particular case. That is all. I'm putting you back on block, as I've been recommended, and taking all further discussion on the matter off the public board. Please feel free to PM me if you have anything you'd like to say to me (as I suggested long long ago), as it's the only way I'll get to read it from now on. Right, now where was this topic? Oh yes, Coldplay at Glastonbury next year!! :)
  17. Oh I must check out that jelly thread, missed that! Found the thread and my mistake it's the Reading FC ground, not the Bowl near you. Still, there look pretty likely to be some stadium/festival gigs next summer in the UK: http://www.coldplaying.com/forum/showthread.php?t=46760
  18. Where did you get your lyrics from, DeeDee? If they're from Japan then please trust me, there's nothing official there about capitalisation or spelling or anything really (though it might be pretty close)!! If it's from another place - especially from any English-speaking countries, please share!! :)
  19. Thanks for your consideration at least Mimi. So who should I get in touch with over this, Ian? (I'm still waiting for that private message about my 'rude' report by the way) But peace, always :)
  20. I'm old enough not to need a babysitting service thanks, I just thought this board might have similar ideas about trying to facilitate healthy debate free from repeated one-liners that APPEAR simply to provoke and upset others, and take threads off topic, that many other sites on the net do now (after years of trial and error). If you speak for this forum Mimi, that's obviously not the case, and I can only put this guy on block like many other members have, and have advised me to do, and rue that Coldplaying.com's not as well-run as it should be. About my supposedly rude report - would you mind please speaking to me privately about that? I have no idea what that is, but would love to know what you're on about. Was it where I reported our friend for continually posting one line rs designed purely to offend and upset? Don't worry the ignore's back on soon (if I choose to stick around here) so I don't have to read any more of your prejudiced comments about short people or our black brothers. The mod tried (with emphasis on the 'tried') to warn you off posting off-topic on here, and you ignored it. I got deeper, into how you were needlessly and deliberately upsetting others (the definition of a troll on other sites), and she chose to back you for some bizarre reason. So, you win in the medium term, and perhaps even the long term. Let's see. Who knows?!!
  21. chuck kottke thank you :) There were many scalpers on ebay and elsewhere. Some of the people who won tickets apparently only entered to make some money :( I was one of the lucky ones to get the FREE tickets, so I chose to share my joy with another true fan on here. There is no future reward for me - my reward was making someone else so very happy, and the huge bonus was that the guy I gave it to was a great chap who actually made my night perfect at the gig by sharing it with me completely (I'm straight by the way lol). Have you searched this site LLL, I was pretty sure it's on here???
  22. I look forward to checking John Mayer out, I've heard a lot of good things about him. With respect though, if you haven't seen Prince live in person (which means you were actually at a gig - call me old-fashioned if you will!!) you would never realise just how good he is. And not only is he a virtuoso guitarist he's also at the same level as an expert pianist, vocalist and producer (and more!). So 'ok' is not the word in anyone's book!
  23. Haha, I'm calm now mate - you confused (and excited!) the heck out of me though with that one :) I'd guessed the Fix You videos were due to the 'photogenicity' (is that a word? :stunned:) of the venue, or rather the suitability in some other sense. Crystal Palace was 1/3 empty for some reason, and just not the sort of place you want to advertise playing at to the world. Having said that, it was an AMAZING gig and good venue, no complaints at all :) I was there the rainy night too, though I don't remember the Travis joke (I don't really know who Travis are, beyond one or two songs!) There was a bootleg on here long ago of the night before, hope I find that someday at least. BTW did you ever get on to sorting that ticket out?
  24. Have you seen Hendrix live (in person)? <edit> I'm guessing you haven't, and nor have I, but personally having seen probably over 1000 live bands in my lifetime I haven't seen anyone come as close to Hendrix as Prince. And I've seen many legendary live guitarists that are supposed to be at least near his level. I should have written that it was just my opinion in that post, and (wrongly!) assumed that that would be taken for granted. Anyway, I guess you've never seen Prince live either. If you had you'd say he was far far more than 'ok'!! Peace :)

    It's such a beautiful thing...Everyone's Not Wrong!! :)
