  1. haha, well do they really need to boost stadium sales? i thought they were all as good as sold out. i guess they probably have a lot of that success ambition in them, wanting their singles to chart and all, but when i'm in my idealistic coldplay mindset, they don't care about any of that stuff and it's all big bad EMI that makes them be so huge and in the public eye :P
  2. dude! must check! is there a video of the performance? i know R42 said will smacked his face with a drumstick, and i was interested in seeing that :P
  3. yeah, i bet that all this promo has something to do with the grammys. i just wonder if the boys themselves care that much, or it's all EMI pushing them to score the label wins so they could profit off of it. i just hope they don't burn themselves out this year so much so that they don't have anything to deliver late this year/early next year :P. it's only january and they're going promo-mad 8 MONTHS after the record's release!
  4. the AMAs are based on record sales and/or radio plays, if i remember correctly. and if i'm right, the grammys are based more on the quality of the music rather than just the popularity. i don't necessarily see coldplay losing 7 times, but i figure they'll win 4 or 5 of what they're up for. i'm especially pessimistic about album of the year, though  i love awards season :wacky:
  5. waiiit, since when does will have "long" hair? did i miss something huge? i've been busy lately :uhoh:
  6. i'd be more sympathetic to you guys if you would provide us with realistic suggestions on how you would go about the president's job while retaining the support or at least the allegiance of the american people and adhering to the constitution to avoid rioting and accusations of treason. all i hear from you two are calls for humungous, sudden changes, like complete economic reform and anarchy. i think it's fine to hold ideals such as those, but to actually propose enacting them all of a sudden as some sort of solution to our current problem is delusional. i don't even know if you really think that those sorts of changes should be made right now, but even if you don't, what good is it to sit around and say that that's what should be done when you know it can't be? are you just waiting for the world to explode so you can step in and take over and be the next founding fathers? jay, you say you're just messing with us because it's fun, and i think i believe you. but since you've obviously studied economy and government and know much more about the technicalities than i ever will, i'd be interested in knowing what you'd HONESTLY and REALISTICALLY do if you were in obama's position right now. me, i have socialist leanings based on what i know and have studied, but that doesn't mean i'd go in and start enacting those policies if i were president. from what i know about history, huge, sudden changes haven't worked and haven't lasted, and i'd wager that the same would happen now if there was a brand-new economic order. what then? obama's tagline is change because he and his (more intelligent, less idealistic) supporters believe that his proposed small tweaks in policy will pave the way for greater change in the future. i believe it's all about the tact, making small repairs now for a better future in the distance while still retaining the allegiance of the american people and adhering to the constitution so he's not booted out on his ass for treason. that's not to say i think obama would make the "right" broad changes that you propose even if the time was right--he doesn't sound like your man, nor does he sound like he will ever be. but i think the sort of person you seek is not going to come around for another 50 years at the least, so i don't see a point in sitting back and citing all that went wrong and how it's all just going more wrong when you seem to have the smarts to get in there and help guide the decision-makers along the road to the future you eventually want to be reality.
  7. despite the hint, i still am trying my hardest to have low expectations, because that's what i always do and getting a response wasn't why i participated in the project in the first place. with that said.... AHH. PROSPECT OF A VIDEO :freak:. MAY HAVE ALREADY BEEN MADE. :bomb:
  8. happy birthday, simon!
  9. i think it's going to be soon, if the guys are back in the studio this week :cheesy: however, i still think that we might not hear ON the actual day, especially if she has a surprise planned. for example, if it's a video, like there was an arguable hint at (not saying i believe anything, though), i figure it might take some time to edit/process/post/whatever.
  10. *clears throat* YAY SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE FOR GETTING THE SAG FOR BEST CAST! i wish dev patel had won best supporting actor, but with heath dead and all (and deserving of the award), he had no chance. roll on, oscars! :nice:
  11. this is exactly why it's sexual harrassment and it's illegal. even if he hadn't said anything and was just looking at you strangely all the time, that would be sexual harrassment too, and just as worthy of reporting. he took this one very big step further by saying something, and that just makes it all the more necessary to report. and now his creepiness affects your mental health, your diet, AND your ability to do your job...you should NEVER be afraid to go into work because of a coworker. if you ask me, the only responsible thing to do is report it.
  12. if he said that it's illegal for him to say that stuff to you, then you HAVE to report it! personally, i just don't think there's any question about what you have to do. just remember that he can only possibly make you suffer as long as you work there, so if he starts to make you feel uncomfortable or picks on you after you report him, then you just quit. i know finding a new job and all that is scary, but if he's made you this upset (and you have every right to be upset), why the hell should you just let it happen? i think your options are reporting it or quitting.
  13. argh, well that sucks that he doesn't have superiors, but about the suffering: i think you have to do something about it. if he's still in his position by the end of it and if he gives you a hard time, then you quit. he can't make you suffer if you don't work there anymore. right now, i don't think you really have anything to lose by reporting him. best case scenario, he's out of his position or he's closely monitored so he doesn't say stuff like that again. worst case scenario, they don't take your case seriously (i don't think that's going to happen unless laws in germany are drastically different than they are in america) and he continues to be an asshole--then you get out of there. in any situation, i think if this continues or gets worse, you need to get out of there regardless of who "wins." but you might as well try to win by getting him written up, because he shouldn't be able to do this same thing to other girls after you're gone. i think you might as well try to set things right with help from government offices, and if you can't, only then should you get out of there :D
  14. oh my god, that's INSANE. over here, if a boss did that and was reported, they would be out of that position in an instant. i'm pretty sure that qualifies as sexual harrassment in america, though i'm not sure about germany. over here, even if he said he was concerned with her health, he would probably still be booted out because he's the boss of a music store and has no place saying anything regarding employee appearance besides dress code. if i were you, julia, i'd continue to work there, but immediately notify his superiors. if he doesn't have superiors and is the owner of a private shop or whatver, bring it to the different government organizations in germany that others were recommending--this is the kind of thing that they exist for. if it comes to nothing and his superiors or organizations don't help you out or get rid of him, then you should quit. but i would say make HIM suffer by getting him written up or making him lose his job rather than making you the one that's at the disadvantage when you did nothing wrong. it's probably easier for him to get a new employee than it is for you to find another comparable job, so if you just quit without a fight, you're letting him win. i say write everything down as it happened and bring it to his superiors or the government organizations in your city right away.
  15. the superbowl performer doesn't have to be american. paul mccartney, U2, the stones...i know they're legends, but it has nothing to do with being "american;" i don't think people would balk at an artist just because they were british or something. two years ago, i laughed at the idea of coldplay doing the superbowl, i thought they'd never do it. now, i think they're more likely to do it than they were two years ago, but i still don't really see them doing it. even though they're "big" enough, and i think the music is epic enough...i just don't think it's a very "coldplay" thing to do. i see the superbowl as being for legends and overproduced popular stuff, not coldplay who falls somewhere between the two. it's hard to describe what i mean, but basically, i think it's possible in a few years, but not likely.
  16. amendment: that jaffa muffin needs WAY more chocolate to be legit. the entire thing basically needs to have a chocolate shell in order to have the correct chocolate/spongey biscuit/orange squidgy bit ratio.
  17. i love that we're still talking about jaffa cakes :wacky: jen, i've heard of the jaffa muffins...basically, that's the most perfect thing ever. anything in muffin form is amazing in itself, and jaffa cakes are already amazing. i plan to hunt down every jaffa product next year and gorge myself.
  18. happy birthday, pris!  :cheesy: :nice:
  19. he always seems to be so hyper and jazzed up in the interviews i see. very cute, but i wonder if he has that really soft, nice side like jim does too :wacky:
  20. it saddens me that so much of the world is peanut-butter-less :bigcry:. you guys don't know what you're missing! actually, i think a lot of people that aren't used to it end up finding it pretty gross. it has a very unique consistency and an unusual taste that isn't really like anything else...i think lots of people that haven't grown up with it are a bit turned off by it. side note: in holland, it's called pinadkaas, which literally translates as "peanut cheese." i found that hysterical when i was there. (correct me if i'm wrong, carla )
  21. well. that movie was made to be seen in imax :dead:. and heath definitely deserves best actor, no doubt in my mind. and as much as i want a.r. rahman to win best score, why wasn't the dark knight nominated?! that is the most epic shit ever. hans zimmer, man. but i should be quiet because he'd just hurt a.r. rahman's chances :P
  22. i'm seeing that again tonight :nice:. i don't know, though, i feel like it got nominated for what it deserved. then again, the first time i saw it, i was in london and was really overstimulated by being in another country, being with a friend, being tired, and being fascinated by the stuff the british audience laughed at that an american audience wouldn't, and vice versa. i do think heath deserves best actor, dead or not.
  23. ooh, better! haha, macaroni cheese pasta. that's so britishy :D basically, give me macaroni and cheese, peanut butter, and pringles, and that's all i need to survive. healthy, huh? :P
  24. oooh, good to know, but what about something like this: i would also greatly appreciate this microwavable variety:
