NEW COLDPLAY SITE! HUGE UPDATE! ARTWORK REVEALED!
ohh, i'm not going to be able to sleep tonight at ALL. it's really going to be bad, but WHATEVER! i just can't stop thinking about tomorrow: how i'm going to feel when it's played, what it's going to sound like, how i'm going to like it, what everyone's going to say on here...GAH. sleep is not going to happen tonight, not in any way. i kind of wish they were doing this on a saturday so it would be better for all of our sleep schedules!!

Speculations - How will it be possible to win tickets?
i don't know, i just have a feeling that it's going to be just like buying tickets for any concert except that you don't put in a credit-card number at the end. i think it would be odd to have a raffle with 20,000 winners, really. if it was like 100, then fine, but 20,000? that's a lot. might as well leave it to the masses to fight it out, that's what i think they'll do.

:stunned: he looks EXACTLY as he does in the 2006 christmas message! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hTr0-F8DGuE that's pretty creepy! :P

MSG seats about 20,000 for a concert. that's why in my little fantasy thing, i specified what members here would be eligible for tickets, because there are more members here than there are seats available! thats a strange thought...

Album Artwork Discussion Thread
haha, i was looking at a high-res version of the painting on wiki, and even though i've thought all day that that dude in the bottom right looks freakishly like jonny, you can see when it's bigger that you can soooort of draw comparisons between chris and guy and two other dudes in the painting: (this wasn't all me; two other people have metioned it in some thread earlier today, and this is the entire painting, not just the cropped bit that's the cover).

Violet Hill video
haha, i remember reading that too. of course, it goes against EVERYTHING the two of them have ever agreed upon, but it would be interesting to see. i don't think i'd mind it as long as it turned out well. i just don't see it happening though.

^MUST. BECOME. MOD. :P seriously, though, can you just imagine how great a concert of all of us coldplayers would be? it would be like this huge party reunion sort of thing, because i feel like we all know each other. it would be amazing, but it's never going to happen . that's probably the only disadvantage of everyone being so international.

Coldplay hire ex-bakery

Violet Hill video
ahh, i can't WAIT! music videos are like my favorite things ever. i think we're going to have to wait till mid-may to see this one though...they were shooting it like 2 weeks ago, right? it takes kind of a while to edit these things and have them completely ready for consumption. not for this video, of course, but some day i'd love to see edgar wright doing a music video, especially one for coldplay! :P

Send In Questions for Coldplay to "Today Show"
i just sent in a new question, because this topic is kind of bothering me: "Hi Coldplay! I was wondering a bit about the album art. Could you tell us why you chose the painting that you did and what it means to you? Also, there is an album cover for Dragon Ash's "Viva La Revolution" which is very similar to your album art here, and the albums even have similar titles. Was this similarity intentional, and if it was, could you explain why you chose to pay homage to this band? Thank you so much!" i think my question might be too long for them to answer on air, though

i REALLY want to be at MSG, but i don't know if it's going to work in my schedule at all or if i'll be able to get tickets. i really don't think we'll have to "win" tickets for MSG at least...i think it'll just be first-come, first-serve as always, but just more cutthroat, quick, and intense for this concert because it's free and everyone and their brother will be trying for them. i can't say i'm personally very hopeful about getting the tickets for this particular show, but if i'm insanely lucky and do get seats...ohmygod. if not, well, i'm seeing them on the today show that thursday, and i'm willing to pay to see them when they come around (assuming i'm in the country at the time...i'm kind of worried that i won't be :\) at times like this, i really, REALLY wish coldplay had a pay-to-join fanclub which gave out tickets to members. pearl jam does this and always has presales for their shows for the fee-paying members only, and it works beautifully. you know that for such free shows as these ones, every random joe that only half likes coldplay will be vying for tickets just because it's free, and i bet these sorts of people will get the majority of the tickets rather than the legit fans like us. blergh. in my wild fantasy, coldplay will announce on the site something to the effect of: "members of coldplaying.com that have been members since (some precise date sometime in like, 2007) and have post-counts higher than 1,200 as of april 30, 2008 will be eligible for the first available tickets while supplies last. after this "presale" period has ended, tickets will be available to the general public." :P oh how i wish...

i've never heard of them, which is why if it's a homage, i think it's kind of a useless one. it's one thing to do a homage to really famous album art, like dark side of the moon or abbey road or something, but some little japanese band that most people have never heard of? even if they're really good, i think the point of the cover completely goes over most everyones' heads. i'd like to hear them discuss this in some interview this summer.

yeah, i bet jonny saw it in the louvre when he was there!

hmm. the whole similarity in artwork and title of this album is somewhat concerning me. coldplay either talked to this band previously and they agred to let them do a similar thing, or they're going to get MAJOR flak for copying. vs.

Will there be a leak?
now that the releases for most countries have been pushed up a week or so, i think the thing will 120% leak on/after june 11. now it's just a question of if we can get it before then!

eh, maybe, but i'm not all that hopeful. these guys would lose their very nice jobs and more over that, since most of these reporters/journalists are usually high-profile. it's one thing for a guy on a factory line to swipe a CD as it comes off the belt, but i think it would be entirely another for some well-known rolling stone journalist to somehow record the listening session on a pocket recorder. that's career-ending.

Music Magazines
i read rolling stone pretty religiously. i like the way that they write and i like their politics, but sometimes i think their features/cover stories could be better chosen. it is my bible, though, just because it's the most comprehensive, reputable, and widely-available music magazine in the US. i like my sources to be rock-solid. i also really like Q, but it's damn expensive over here. i only buy it when there's a decent-sized article on a band i love. i wish it was more affordable. Mojo's great too, but i haven't read that in a long time. other than that, i get this indie music/movie/book magazine called paste. i like it because it's pretty unpretentious and they don't think they're the shit just because they know of bands you've never heard of. they also have alternate perspectives on more mainstream bands, but it's good for opening up new tastes and reading about artists before they hit it big. i think the best part is that every single issue comes with a free mix CD of the artists they cover in that issue, and usually it's amazingly kickass. they've had radiohead and other bands like that on recently...i wouldn't be surprised if "violet hill" turns up on the next one if everything legal falls into place.

Where have all of Death's Friends gone?
i bet it's still called the entire thing, but that they just couldn't fit the subtitle on the cover. i bet it'll be elsewhere on the CD/case. either way, though, i don't really care what happens. i have to say that i like DAAHF, but not so much when it's tacked onto VLV. i say pick one or the other, but really, it's just the title! i just want the music now.
