  1. I actually really like Human, even if it a bit less Hot Fuss-y than i was hoping, but its so much better than the other songs like Spaceman etc. that I've heard on youtube, so far.
  2. Its definitely underrated in my experience, but then I think I like that song a little too much. But when played live, along with Spies, its absolutely epic in my opinion.
  3. I think it's one of the most 'different' sounding songs on the album, by which I mean, if it were an instrumental track, you would probably never guess it was Coldplay. But what separates it from their other non-typical tracks like Yes and perhaps even Violet Hill, it actually has a really sweet-yet-epic quality that very few of their previous songs have. It's probably their most innocent song of recent years, and its lovely. Wheras some of their best/immediate tracks like Clocks and The Scientist are sort of almost "in-your-face-classic-coldplay", Strawberry Swing has an understated beauty to it that likely only reveals itself after 2 or 3 (or more) listens. One more thought - if X&Y was Coldplay's most bombastic and *arguably* pretentious record (not saying thats a particualrly bad thing), then this song, along with the acoustic version of Lovers In Japan in my opinion, are Coldplay doing the exact opposite - and doing it brilliantly. And I think I forgot to mention that it's tied 2nd for my favourite song on the album :D
  4. Haha damn, I havn't touched my AROBTTH album since 2004! I got it second hand (skipped a bit on some songs), so I havn't opened it in ages. And I think I lost the booklet for it too :uhoh: ...
  5. Wow, that's a really cool picture of them! Its just so great to see all 4 of them in the same room, rehearsing or working on songs. It seems much more 'real' than any of the commercial photos I think :D Going by the length of Guy's and Jonny's hair, I would guess its from the AROBTTH era, right?
  6. haha, Thom's face/pose in that picture is hilarious  Oh and... NEW SONGS SOON? Wow, this year and 2009 are turning out to be the best for all the big bands bringing out material, it seems. I would kinda want an album/EP of songs from them, though.
  7. Exactly! The drums are soooo much better live, I think. And with slightly more guitar, I think it would be my second favourite song on the album. As it stands though, I think I still like the acoustic version a tiny bit better (than the album version).
  8. I love it in Things I Don't Understand - its so different for Guy, because it basically defines the melody, but it definitely works. I love it! *Searches for it in music library* Cemeteries and Violet Hill are great too, I think it saves Violet Hill from being a bland mesh of guitars, actually.
  9. Haha, I actually had one where Chris made a brief appearance recently, but the dream was dominated by Tom Chaplin from Keane, with whom I was discussing their 2nd album, Under The Iron Sea (i actually criticised a few songs i think, but anyway). After about 5 minutes or so of talking inside, we went out onto the main road, which just happened to be a busy London street, and then we saw Chris Martin in his VLV uniform getting on a double-decker bus with an oyster card :P So we quickly followed him on the bus, where Tom followed Chris up the stairs to the top level... I desperately wanted to see them interact with each other but the bus driver stopped me and said my card was "out of date" :dozey:. So I spent the next few minutes trying to persuade her that it was the card reading machine that wasn't working, and thats when i woke up  That could have been the only time I would have seen Tom and Chris have a conversation with each other in any form :P Ah well.
  10. Ahh that story about the teepee is quite funny, it would have been a youtube hit for sure :D Its nice to hear two people from my favourite bands getting along... its getting a bit tiring hearing about the incidents of violence and the like between/towards bands these days. I can't wait for the new Travis album!
  11. Yeah, the privacy thing is what bothers me too. People are just so used to knowing these in fact normal people (who are totally unrelated to them in any way) inside out (regardless of whether or not the stuff they read about them is actually true). And anything less than knowing their children's names, what their daily activities are and relationship status, somehow becomes frustrating. Probably explains why certain magazines proclaim celebrities "recluse" when nothing of interest happens for 5 hours. Quite worrying.
  12. Ah, i've been waiting for news on this! (erm, not that I've been counting the days or anything, but still... :uhoh:) But yes, it should be interesting to see what happens that day. Although, I don't think the government would have allowed them to try anything that could mean even quite a small chance of creating something like a black hole that would eradicate human civilization in less than a second. Or would they? :P I don't know, I'm sure they've done their calculations. I'm just eager to see what they find with this thing :D [geeky] *Crosses fingers for undeniable proof of Higgs Boson* [/geeky]
  13. I think that just sums up what people think celebrities are all about. They see them as zoo animals - if they don't do anything, they're boring, when they should be entertaining them... whereas, by nature, most prefer to lay low or just sleep all day. And then you complain that you havn't got your money's worth for the zoo ticket, and kick up a fuss like a 4 year old child who didn't get any ice cream that day. It's kind of pathetic, really.
  14. Thanks for the videos! Looks like it was a particularly exciting concert! So I'm guessing "Prospekt's March" and "The Dubliners" are actually one and the same then? Or am I missing something? EDIT: Ahh, just saw that photo of the setlist  Guess that answers my question.
  15. The recreation of the instruments isn't all that bad (for an amateur), but the voice really doesn't suit the song at all. Plus I think these guys have just wasted their time covering this song, seeing as they did nothing original with it whatsoever. I think the original is unsurpassable (if that's even a word).
  16. I have to say that would be completely awesome. It would pretty much guarantee me wanting to get a ticket for the opening ceremony, but i have a feeling the chances of getting in are slim. By the way, did anyone else hear Reign of Love being played during some of the montages last week? I was in tunisia at the time and watching the Olympics on a french channel so I'm not sure if it was shown everywhere. But it was a nice surprise :nice:
  17. ^ Yes that did throw me a bit. I think 16 could be either Radiohead or Talking heads but I'm not sure...
  18. I think number 15 is "Coal-play" :P Number 1 is Scissor Sisters. 18 is British Sea Power.
  19. I love this band, and I'm just going to check out the new track now
  20. This is one of the best of the series, so I'm pumped!
  21. Are you certain about this? Have you got a link where Eckhart said that he would be back for the 3rd one? By the way, I saw it twice in 2 days, and I loved it. Make sure you see it in a good cinema though, with LOUD speakers, because the first time I saw it the sound was pretty low. And it was quite hard to hear what the characters were saying sometimes. If you're in the UK, go to a 'Vue' cinema.
  22. This band is very good. I would say they've put out 2 albums that rival the likes of Muse and early Radiohead, while having a style all their own. I've only discovered them recently (a few days before this thread was created, actually!) and I'm already waiting for more. It'll be a while until they release a third album probably, but most of what they have released up until now has pretty much blown me away  Favourites by them include When Fire Falls, Stretched Out, You Waste Time Like A Grandfather Clock, Holiest Of Thieves, The Accident, Get On The Plane, and Don't Let Them See You. For if you make a sooooound Or you turn arooooound They will be gooooone
  23. Avoid? Possible leak? LP5!? No chance. :P
  24. So this is not being released in the UK? Argh, I was planning on hunting for this tomorrow  Ah well.
