  1. Thanks for posting this! You know Nick, what gets me is that the Japanese are very industrious, hard-working people, and such good savers - I just find it tragic that they face economic problems like this. They deserve better!! There has got to be a better way..
  2. Cake? Sounds Divine! What kind??
  3. 4 hours of sleep - gotta get more REM than that!! I miss my Cherokee Outlet..
  4. Yes, welcome to the board KT (Tunstall?), and enjoy the camaraderie! :sunny::sunny::sunny:
  5. Thanks! It's a subject that has been much discussed in progressive places, and a lot has been done; we're behind the times though in the U.S... What has Canada done that would be good examples?
  6. Welcome Violet!:sunny: What's the special meaning of daylight to you?
  7. faded white; cotton without the false color to it.. Do you know what it means to 'grab the bull by the horns'?

Welcome Ngaio!!:hat::jester: Glad you're on-board and on-line with us here in 'district 9' as Ian puts it!! Enjoy the show, and keep the music playing!!
  9. Sleep Chant!:P I was thinking about how US cities were once designed for human and pedestrian friendliness, and lost that as the automobile took over, got wider, and went everywhere. Maybe now that the belts and belts of orbiting highways have ringed around the city centers, we can really begin in earnest to make the cities human-friendly? (not just a few experiments here and there, but really re-do them all..).. A future of electric or clean quiet buses, rail, re-route traffic to parking points not in the center & short hop commuter shuttle transporters in, re-install the center green islands in the boulevards, turn some of the streets into pedestrian and cycle-only paths.. Some has been done, but we're so slow to change here - need to take a lesson from Paris, or Fez, or Caracas, or elsewhere that progressive changes have already been done.. Hmm.. how to deal with stubborn people on planning boards..?
  10. Scotland has culture - & they deep fry everything!:laugh3: And there's the tartan plaids, the kilt, the bagpipes, the clans. Ancient picts settled it? They declared their independence once, and almost got it! >>But what we call a country is truly in and of the mind - John Lennon's Imagine has a lot to say in that regard..
  11. Pseudonyms Sue seems to know everything!:P:scholar: Some of the smileys can have more than one meaning - it's all in the eye of the beholder. This one: :awesome: always makes me think of the fish in the fish tank, waiting for the food from the food shaker to land on the water's surface!:laugh3::mudkip:
  12. Hey Jude, don't bring me down.. take a sad song, and make it better.. Remember to let her under your skin. Then you can begin, to make it better, better, better, better.. Nah, nah nah, nananah .. nanananah, hey Jude.. ajudejudejude

  15. It's all those robots that wash the cars, serve the food, and clean the dishes now!! All the youth jobs are drying up, and are being taken over by androids, robots, and unemployed Albanians.:P
  16. But twitter has that cute little twitter bird, and Facebook only has that big F!:laugh3: Why can't they just merge, and become Flitter?:P
  17. What the heck was I thinking?? What a world - cold as a freezer here, warm as a toaster there.. But I was thinking something about the 'ladder to space' that they were discussing on on-point. Stronger materials needed, but perhaps if each section were held aloft with hot air balloons, aerodynamically designed. Still, it's a bit nuts. Why not just make a ladder to bridge the gap between rich and poor, and leave in the bottom rungs?
  18. Welcome Natalie :). Glad you got to enjoy the experience of a live performance by Coldplay, and keep the South of England Rocking!:guitarist::drummer::hippy::sunny:

Dreamtime You are not, nor am I, nor are any of us are "lowly" in any manner of the word! We are all capable of many more things than we would dare admit even to ourselves. I'm just trying to get past the negativity that keeps us grounded, that's all. If only in dreams, if nowhere else, can we attain the higher plane. And speaking of expanding our ways of thinking, here's something I found interesting - Wade Davis talking about the Dreamtime of the aboriginal people in Australia - a way of thinking where there is no past, no present, no future - just a 'oneness'... TED Blog: Wade Davis reports from the Dreamtime
  22. A good combination, if ever there was one!! I think we need something that gives us jaw exercises. (Catherine thinks this too..) Hence, there's a craving for chewy things, crunchy things.. I've just gotta have apples and carrots in winter! What's your fav?
