[X10Y] Chris Martin risks serious injury to hug Noel Gallagher

The band played a secret show at the Round Chapel in Hackney, East London, which was being recorded for a future broadcast on MTV in June. During 'In My Place' Martin spotted Gallagher on the balcony. He climbed up onto the main speaker stack and then pulled himself onto the balcony. Once up there he found Noel and gave him a massive hug. However, Martin then found himself stranded on the balcony, fifteen feet from where the rest of the band were attempting to continue the song without him. After standing on the edge, Martin then jumped back onto the stage below. Earlier in the night Chris Martin had covered 'Lyla' as a tribute to his hero. The show was the band's only confirmed UK date prior to their headline appearance at this summer’s Glastonbury festival. The setlist ran: Square One Politik God Put A Smile On Your Face Speed Of Sound Warning Sign X&Y Yellow Low The Scientist Till Kingdom Come Clocks What If In My Place Fix You

[X10Y] Speed Of Sound debuts + Poll v Clocks
10 years of X&Y - #X10Y. <a href="http://www.coldplaying.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/b6fafacba6b7c8bf0b44f4f2c1a038f9.jpg"><img src="http://www.coldplaying.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/b6fafacba6b7c8bf0b44f4f2c1a038f9.jpg" alt="[X10Y] 'Speed Of Sound' Debuts, With 'Clocks' Comparisons" width="534" height="718" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-47590" /></a> <strong>Warning sign - you are about to go back to 10 years ago, shortly after <em>Speed Of Sound</em> received its debut play on BBC Radio 1. Radio stations immediately warned to Coldplay's 1st single from their upcoming 3rd album, <em>X&Y</em>. Speed of Sound drew comparisons to the style of their GRAMMY winning single, 'Clocks'.</strong> Chris Martin and Jonny Buckland from Coldplay came into Radio 1 to give Steve Lamacq the first play of their single. The guys seemed very embarrassed about the compliments from listeners after the single was played and joked they wanted to remix it again. They admit they’re very shy about talking about their new album ‘X&Y’ but Chris talked about how they’ve turned up Jonny’s guitars to show off what a great musician he is. Despite the nerves about the album they can’t wait to head off on tour and play Glastonbury and are loving life at the moment. <strong><strong>“We’re living our dream lives, we’re entertained all the time. I spoke to Noel Gallagher from the band Oasis. When you speak to someone who was around when you were 14 and now they’re speaking to you as contemporaries, you have to hit yourself on the head and remind yourself that your dreams have come true. It’s amazing. We’re still excited about it. Every part of what we do is exciting and incredible.”</strong></strong> As well as releasing a new album, the band are also heading off on tour soon. They chose their own support bands for the dates – Interpol is one of them – Chris explained why: <blockquote><strong>They’re disarmingly handsome, and what we thought we needed to open for Coldplay was a disarmingly handsome band. The Strokes weren’t available and nor were Kings of Leon or Girls Aloud, so Interpol it was</strong></blockquote> <strong>'Speed Of Sound' has been compared to Coldplay's third single from previous album, <em>A Rush Of Blood To The Head</em>. We have a poll - please vote :) [video=youtube;aowtyrtaD7U]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aowtyrtaD7U&feature=youtu.be

***The official "Editors" thread***
Wow, very nice! They are the best at these really dark songs :D

I NEED to tell Chris...
I wouldn't get into a life or death situation if it involved having to speak to one of the most famous (and busiest) musicians in the world :P

Coldplaying asks Coldplay (16/06/15)
We aren't gonna hear anything about LP7, they are keeping it under wraps. I think the only time we'll hear something is when they want to reveal something (via Coldplay's official page) and who knows when that will be!

In Will's case, he's mentioned the song before on Twitter, still his favourite song at the moment I guess :P

[X10Y] Secret shows in April - The Gallery
<img src="http://www.coldplaying.com/wp-content/data/892/22170.jpg?i=1499249128" alt="Coldplay will 2005" /> 10 years of X&Y (Hashtag: #X10Y) <strong>Warning sign - you are about to be transported back to April 2005, where Coldplay had just performed a series of secret shows, in Spain, Germany and The Netherlands. Coldplay's second appearence at Glastonbury had also been confirmed. The band were back and doing what they do best. Four talented guys in one arena, performing their songs, in front of ecstatic fans!</strong> <a href="http://www.coldplaying.com/x10y-10-years-of-xy-coldplay-announce-new-album-and-single/" title="[X10Y] 10 years of X&Y – Coldplay announce new album and single" target="_blank">Since they released the details of their third album, titled 'X&Y' over a month ago</a>, Coldplay have been gearing up for the public eye. Before the publicity explodes, the British foursome have been delighting fans across the world with spur of the moment gigs! Amsterdam, Cologne and Madrid were venues to a few low key but majestic displays from the band. Unfortunately, we don't have much info, being a secret show and all but we were treated to many glorious snaps, mostly from the Cologne show. Here is the setlist Coldplay performed at all three secret shows: <a href="http://www.coldplaying.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/secretshowsapril2005.png"><img src="http://www.coldplaying.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/secretshowsapril2005.png" alt="[X10Y] Coldplay are back, doing what they do best" width="474" height="471" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-47573" /></a> Owen described their first secret show, in The Netherlands and gave us a further glimpse of the new Coldplay tracks: <blockquote><strong>X&Y features Chris on piano. Very melodic. Beautiful piano outro. Features the lyrics: “You and me surfing on tidal waves, you and me floating in outer space” (… or something like that). Low is the loudest guitar track since Yellow. Guaranteed favourite for the new album, and possible single if you ask me. Til Kingdom Comes is lovely Chris/Jonny track. Is fully acoustic, much like ‘Green Eyes’. Lovely evening. Magical. P.s. They completely fucked up ‘Amsterdam’</strong></blockquote> Here are the links to each show's gallery: <a href="http://www.coldplaying.com/06th-april-2005-the-max-amsterdam-netherlands-secret-gig/" title="Amsterdam, Netherlands Coldplay" target="_blank">Amsterdam, Netherlands</a> <a href="http://www.coldplaying.com/gallery/coldplay-live/coldplay-live-2005/07th-april-2005-gloria-theater-cologne-germany-secret-gig/" title="Cologne Germany" target="_blank">Cologne, Germany</a> <a href="http://www.coldplaying.com/gallery/coldplay-live/coldplay-live-2005/11th-april-2005-uno-dos-tres-cuatro-cinco-cinco-seis-madrid-spain-secret-gig/" title="Madrid Coldplay" target="_blank">Madrid, Spain</a> Preview of the galleries: <img src="http://www.coldplaying.com/wp-content/data/892/26130.jpg?i=763426356" alt="Chris Martin" /> <img src="http://www.coldplaying.com/wp-content/data/892/27129.jpg?i=459776278" alt="Coldplay Jonny 2005" /> <img src="http://www.coldplaying.com/wp-content/data/892/30123.jpg?i=1608239515" alt="Coldplay Jonny" /> <img src="http://www.coldplaying.com/wp-content/data/892/6390.jpg?i=1076549517" alt="Coldplay Chris" /> <img src="http://www.coldplaying.com/wp-content/data/891/11372.jpg?i=606135105" alt="Coldplay chris 2005" /> There is a bonus on the way too! LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
I think it's likely that we won't hear anything for a few months. The band are in the middle of recording still, according to Rik Simpson about 3 weeks ago and there is still the production phase ahead. One thing that interests me is the release date in terms of what season it falls under. The way things are going, an autumn/winter release seems more likely but it could be a summery record. Imagine listening to ETIAW for the first time in November/December. Not quite the same ;)

Phil Harvey interview / Coldplay spotlight on BBC 4
Yeah. Unfortunately, I've just missed it on the rewind feature via BBC's site so i'm gonna have to wait for the catch up version in a few days probably. This is the quote though via Atlas Project: "Definitely a founding principle, that was established very early on was that Chris was doing more than 25% of the songwriting process." "But everything else was split equally, and that's the way it's stayed until this day."

Live 2003 v Live 2012
Which live concert film is the most special to you? Live 2003 or Live 2012? Both differ quite vastly from each other. Howyousawtheworld has posted an excellent article on Coldplaying.com, looking back at both of them Read it here: http://www.coldplaying.com/live-2003live-2012/ And vote away :)

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
That's what it's all about, speculation :P There is a real chance of that happening, as Chris Martin said in August last year, he wants other artists to feature on the record and he was recording with Rihanna again, for her solo project and something Coldplay related. We'll see what comes of that anyway, it might not even see the light of day!

Where should Coldplay visit for their next world tour?
Do you mean safety wise?
-
LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
You might be waiting a while for LP8, a lengthy break, like we saw between Viva and MX may be on the cards :P I hope a new song isn't called 'Anything Is Possible', reminds me of Will Young :inquisitive:

Coldplaying iOS app (To be released on May 3rd)
Hi all. Unfortunately, the Coldplaying iOS app has been rejected by Apple. It's the second time it's been rejected and each time it's taken 2 weeks to be review by Apple (compare that to 4-5 hours for Google/Android!). First time was required additional information then the most recent one was because of features they didn't want on the app (such as articles and downloads), the graphics (because of the artwork in the background) and the name 'Coldplaying'. I'm going to make edits and then submit it again. Then i'll appeal if they reject the app name again. They are telling me that I need to prove that I own the patent for 'Coldplay' to use it even partially in the app name and that I should use the app name, 'GreatApp - Coldplay edition' or 'GreatApp - Coldplay version' instead! So, I can't guarantee that Coldplaying will have an app for iOS as it's out of my hands. Ideally, we want to be on all platforms but might end up being Android only. Android is a perfect platform for the site as Google is supportive, quick and easy for the site. The BETA version is currently available on the Google play store : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tapatalk.coldplayingcomforum&hl=en_GB
