[X10Y] Coldplay release new album and single details
Warning sign - You are about to be transported back to 2005, for this very special announcement: Coldplay’s massively anticipated new album will be entitled ‘X&Y’ and the first single to be released from it will be called ‘Speed Of Sound’. Coldplay’s new album, the follow-up to 2002’s 16 million selling ‘A Rush Of Blood To The Head’, will be entitled ‘X&Y’ and will be released by Parlophone Records on June 6. The album will also be preceded by the new single, ‘Speed Of Sound’ on May 23. ‘X&Y’ was recorded over the past year at studios in the UK and has been produced by Danton Supple (Morrissey, Elbow), Ken Nelson (Badly Drawn Boy, Kings of Convenience) and the band themselves. Easily the most album anticipated release of 2005, ‘X&Y’ sees Coldplay building on their previous achievements while resisting the temptation to repeat themselves. “We wanted to try new things out, to move our sound along,” explained Coldplay guitarist Jonny Buckland, But the focus remains on the songs, and Chris [Martin]’s voice is sounding amazing. Everyone is playing at the top of their game. As previously announced Coldplay will be embarking on their biggest world tour yet this summer. Xfm can also reveal that the support confirmed for the UK & Eire leg of the tour include Doves, Supergrass, Elbow, Interpol and Morning Runner. Coldplay’s full European tour dates and ticket information are now: Volks Park, Hamburg, Germany (June 15) Fuelinger, Koln, Germany (17) Wuhlheide, Berlin, Germany (19) Dublin Marlay Park (22) Supports: Interpol, Morning Runner (ROI) 0181 719 300 (NI) 0870 243 4455 www.ticketmaster.ie Crystal Palace National Sports Centre (27 & 28) Supports: Supergrass, Morning Runner (27) Supports: Interpol, Morning Runner (28) See Tickets 020 7403 3331, CC Hotline 020 7287 0932 and Stargreen 020 7734 8932 Bellahouston Park, Glasgow (July 1 & 2) Supports: Supergrass, Morning Runner (both shows) 0870 169 0100 and www.gigsinscotland.com Reebok Stadium, Bolton (4 & 5) Supports: Elbow, Morning Runner (4) Supports: Doves, Morning Runner (5) See Tickets 0870 120 1149, Piccadilly 0870 4422 100, Ticketmaster 0871 230 5464 Gelredome, Arnhem, Netherlands (July 7) Coubertin Platz, Munich, Germany (9) Nuke Site, Pielacht, Austria (10)

News roundup - new pilot show up
Great content wise, very well spoken :) I don't think that part needs editing (apart from the scripting side as Grids explained). The intro is ok too. Would like to add an extra Coldplaying graphic at the start and end. I'll get that PMed over to you soon but let's see what everyone else thinks too

A History Of Free Coldplay Giveaways
Coldplay have treated us to many freebies in the past. They are no strangers to free downloads or even free concerts! There's also companies, such as Google, who just a few days ago had given away the band's latest album, Ghost Stories away for free. In Google's case, their promotion in celebrating the 3rd anniversary of the Google Play store involved a free giveaway of Coldplay's sixth album, Ghost Stories (On Thursday 5th March to be exact). The album is usually priced at £4.99 on the UK store. It's unknown as to have much impact this move has made but it's surely a positive one either way. Looking back, the largest giveaway, which made a considerable impact was the Violet Hill free download. The first taster from Coldplay's fourth album in 2008, Viva La Vida or Death And All His Friends caused a major talking point. It hadn't been the first song or album to do so, as in the previous year, Radiohead had released their LP, 'In Rainbows' to fans on a 'pay what you want basis'. The two coupled together raised questions about the direction of the music industry at that time and how much difference it would make to paid music. It was fair to say, if music is good, people will pay for it and Violet Hill itself had reached #8 on the UK single charts, it's peak position, despite being completely free to download for the whole week! It's sales were an estimate of around 9,000 during that week. Impressive but still drowned out by the huge number of free downloads (630,000 to be exact). The move was a success and had payed off for Coldplay. During the Viva era, the band had also set up free shows in cities such as London and Barcelona. Fans could only win tickets by entering a competition on Coldplay.com. The London show, at Brixton academy was broadcasted live on BBC Radio 1. Then, we were given a new song, titled Death Will Never Conquer, in celebration of the new Viva tour! The ultimate fan pleaser, which signaled the near-end of Coldplay's generous streak during the Viva era, was the free live album, LeftRightLeftRightLeft. It was something the band really wanted to do but there were difficulties due to the faltering economy in 2009 and issues with the recording contract, which didn't include live albums for free! This stumbling block was eventually passed and fans were given physical copies of the live album as a gift at live concerts, while fans also flooded to Coldplay.com on a busy Monday morning to download the live recording. [video=youtube;UO0N6lTWyko]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UO0N6lTWyko Coldplay's performance at the iTunes festival in 2011, during their Mylo Xyloto era had been available as a free CD to Coldplay fans in the UK, via the Sunday Times Newspaper. This was very minor though in comparison to what happened with Jason Regler's new invention at that time, the Xyloband! Their inventor, close to bankruptcy at the time, had attracted Coldplay, who were looking to take the concert experience to the next level. The rest was history and we saw the Xylobands debut in late 2011, much to the pure delight and amazement of fans in Europe. The influence of Xylobands took tracks such as Charlie Brown to new heights and were kept by hundreds of thousands of fans as a precious souvenir. It came with a hefty price though, as it was easily Coldplay's most expensive giveaway, at over $7 million during the whole tour! This meant Coldplay had technically played many of their Mylo Xylotour shows for free. Just a few hundred fans around Los Angeles were the lucky ones at the start of the Ghost Stories era, as they were given a chance to be part of a new Coldplay film, within a $4 million 360 degree stage at the Sony Studios. The unbelievable few nights for those Coldplayers turned out to be what we now know as Ghost Stories Live 2014.

Always In My Head
I was just listening to the debut version, live at iTunes festival and thought that the production is a tad too much for the studio version. I really like it still but doesn't seem to have the same impact as Oceans on the album for me.

June 2014: Ghost Stories era: Coldplay's Sydney Adventure

This month - Coldplay visit Tokyo and Sydney as they shoot the official video for A Sky Full Of Stars. (January, February, March, <a title="The Ghost Stories era – A month full of stars! The demand was expected to be very high and fans were discussing various tactics for getting access to tickets as soon as they went on sale. Every plan soon went out of the window when 9.30am struck and panic ensued... Gigsandtours/Seetickets were unable to cope with the demand, with just a few thousand spots within the venue to fill. This meant a lot of fans were disappointed. Some fans did manage to snap up tickets from the excess slowly released online during the weeks that followed.
Japanese fans go crazy for Coldplay!
The Ghost Stories 'mini tour' involved a return to the far east for Coldplay, who music fans go wild for in countries like Japan. Tokyo, Dome City Hall hosted an intimate performance from the band. There were rumours of Chris Martin being ill on the day, fueled by Chris' voice not being as sharp as usual but it didn't stop the pure excitement and delight of everyone at the concert or those of us who were listening online. The Coldplay frontman also complimented the crowd on their "Amazing haircuts!" View the setlist of the show below:
#coldplayjapan #ghoststoriestour - Tokyo, Dome City setlist - June 12th. pic.twitter.com/IcC4Drsy0e — Coldplaying (@coldplaying) June 12, 2014

The band continue their Japanese venture
Coldplay attended the MTV Video Music Awards. Chris, Jonny, Will and Guy performed their first two singles from Ghost Stories, Magic and A Sky Full Of Stars [soliloquy id=25519]
Kylie joins Coldplay at penultimate Ghost Stories show
They recorded <a title="Coldplay Lhuna" href=" target="_blank">Lhuna together many years ago and were re-united once more, live on stage in their final trip before Coldplay return home to London. It was a mesmerizing show in Sydney, The Enmore Theater as the guys played through the plethora of Coldplay classic's. The main set was shorter than usual, with only 13 songs before the legendary Australian singer, Kylie Minogue joined the band in a performance of Nick Cave's Where the Wild Roses Grow and the re-take of Kylie's own song, Can't Get You Out Of My Head, <a title="Coldplay Can't Get You Out Of My Head" href=" target="_blank">which Coldplay famously covered in Glastonbury 2005, during the encore. [video=youtube;3lQuZPngC9A] Coldplayer, Connor!42! posted an excellent review of Coldplay's Sydney show:
1. After the broadcast ended, they played two kylie Minogue songs and then Fix You. I've been to quite a few concerts and it was quite obvious that people wanted more. Even after the original encore and after the encore after the broadcast finished, people were quite hesitant to leave their positions. When I was walking out I heard at least three different people say things like "That wasn't long enough" or "Is that it?". For me, it was more than enough. The energy and enthusiasm throughout the whole show never dropped once and when it finished I felt satisfied with the length of the show. Also, they didn't stick around to talk to fans after the show either and they had The Voice to film the next day so maybe there was a bit of a rush 2. When Kylie Minogue came out, people seemed thrilled but I think the general vibe dropped a whole lot when she started singing. Especially during ICGYOOMH, which is quite a pop-ish song, people just weren't that excited. I, myself, was quite bored and just wanted her off the stage. I definitely would have rather heard two more Coldplay songs than the two she played. 3. The sound and lighting was incredibly. I think the best and most unique part of being in such a small venue was that you could literally feel the ground and your body vibrating from the bass. The lighting was incredible and the quality of the sound was great. I've seen them two other times but this was by far the best concert I've been to.

Coldplay film 'ASFOS' video on the streets of Sydney!
250 lucky Aussie fans flooded to the streets of Sydney, upon having a chance to feature in Coldplay's official video for second single, A Sky Full Of Stars. The concept was simple. To create a natural 'summery' video alongside the band's loyal fans and a colourful one too. In contrast infact to the previous video for Magic, which was in black and white, as well as being acting based. [video=youtube;VPRjCeoBqrI] The reception from the fans was largely positive for the colourful and simple video. Quote from EC-JTR on the forums:
For me is a nice video, optimistic, happy, colorfull, sometimes simple thinkgs are the best… of course is not a late generation video, but nice…anyone remember Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band?… Be happy…
And Leigh Cockerill on the Coldplaying.com Facebook comments wrote:
I love this video. I think it portrays how down to earth and natural Coldplay are. You can see how much hey adore their fans and how they have no problems with mixing so close with them. Had a huge smile on my face when I saw this video for the first time. Sent chills up my spine. I couldnt help but think "I wished I was there!!" Coldplay should be congratulated for this video! Well done guys. I feel even prouder to be an Aussie after seeing this :o)
Mystery surrounded the half-way point in the music video, when Chris Martin was standing in front of a shop window full of TV screens, while an apparent 'alternate' music video was playing in the background.
A Sky Full Of Stars (Avicii edit)
An Avicii edit of Coldplay's second single from Ghost Stories was uploaded to Soundcloud, as we took a listen to hear what the uplifting song may have sounded like if Avicii had his own way! The Swedish producer, with the real name of Tim Bergling was a co-producer for the eighth track on the album but Coldplay needed the ideal mix of Rock and Electronic dance music as Chris was determined to fit the song within the album.
Deluxe edition tracks on new 'ASFOS' EP
Coldplay were releasing an EP for their new single, A Sky Full Of Stars and the three tracks on the deluxe edition of Ghost Stories: All Your Friends, Ghost Story and O (Reprise) were about to be placed on sale for the first time worldwide. They had only previously been available on the US version of Ghost Stories, the Target special edition.
July next!
And that brings the Ghost Stories review of June 2014 to a close! Coldplay leave the Oceania and head back home to London, where they are getting ready for a spectacular concert at the Royal Albert Hall.

Credit to Christa for finding these :D Pasted from the Coldplaying.com article :) [parsehtml][/parsehtml] The rejected artwork for Coldplay's 2013 single, from the Hunger Games : Catching Fire soundtrack, Atlas has surfaced online. Zane Lowe leaves BBC role - His best moments with Coldplay
Via Coldplaying.com Zane Lowe has ruled the airwaves of British Radio for over a decade, now he will move on to a new role with Apple in the U.S, as he leaves BBC Radio 1, with his farewell show taking place last night. The New Zealand born DJ enjoys an understanding relationship with Coldplay frontman, Chris Martin. The reaction to the DJ's final bow on British radio was met with huge gratitude from a host of artists and bands, including - Kasabian, Adele, Big Sean and Jake Bugg. Coldplay were one of the first to pay tribute, as they praised "The hottest man in the world right now", in reference to his everlasting feature within his show, "The hottest record in the world right now", promoting an endless sea of new music and often giving new bands and returning artists a huge boost for their upcoming record. Coldplay's lead singer had once hosted Zane Lowe's show in January 2007, where he played a large range of tracks, such as REM's Me In Honey and Travis' Big Chair, in addition to introducing the single of a new band back then, Enter Shikari as his "hottest record in the world". A lot has changed on the music scene since Zane took the reigns on BBC Radio 1 (Morning, then Evening show) but the absolute Juggernaut of a DJ has stood the test of time!

Thank you for everything @zanelowe, the living antidote to cynicism, love j, g w, c #thankszane #hottestpersonintheworldrightnow
— Coldplay (@coldplay) March 5, 2015
Zane Lowe wasn't afraid to play tracks which would not normally fit in Radio 1's main playlist, as he marked his final show with Coldplay co-producer, Jon Hopkins and his track, Open Eye Signal, which played before Ghost Stories concerts started, last year. Looking back on to 2008 and he debuted Coldplay's A Spell A Rebel Yell, the Vinyl B-Side from their Violet Hill single, a track which wasn't expected to ever be heard on radio, given its obscure nature and non radio friendly sound. [video=youtube;gJDGROuiKpQ]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gJDGROuiKpQ In 2011, Coldplay were preparing for their fifth record, as they tell us, on Zane Lowe's show how the record is about “love, addiction, OCD, escape and working for someone you don’t like”. The legendary DJ had a special way with engaging with artists during his time with Radio 1 and Chris Martin stands out as one of them. Almost every time we've heard Zane interview any of the guys, we always find out something new and interesting! Chris gave us a clue that the then un-titled fifth album, Mylo Xyloto would be an uplifting affair: [Fifth album] also has a lot of uplifting stuff. It’s supposed to be about life, the good stuff and the bad stuff. Everything. In recent times, the pair's friendship has solidified further, with Chris Martin trusting Zane to conduct an intimate interview on last year's album, Ghost Stories, where he talked about his personal reasons for making the album. The interview ranks very high among the most in depth and interesting chats. The 1 hour, 9 minutes long interview had it all. Personal revelations, Chris' trademark sense of humour, stories of Chris and Jonny, Paradise originally being written as the X-Factor's winning song, until Chris showed drummer, Will Champion, who kept it for the band instead! This video will never get old and sums up everything brilliant about Zane Lowe's interviewing skills: [video=youtube;9pF7bS_4JnE] And we have this brilliant quote from that interview, summing up the idea behind Coldplay's sixth record, Ghost Stories: The idea of “Ghost Stories” for me was how do you let the things that happened to you in the past, your ghosts, how do you let them affect your present and your future because there was a time when I was feeling they were going to drag me down, ruin my life and of those around me That was not all. More recently, his presence and level of trust with Coldplay's frontman prompted the revelation of the next album title, A Head Full Of Dreams, much the annoyance of the rest of the band! He also compared the band's next effort to the final Harry Potter book / as a last in a series. Zane's future is unknown, as his role with Apple is currently undisclosed. If he takes up a similar role in North America, it may not the final time we see his joyous interviews with the band. Here's an ode to Zane - we wish him all the best with his new role!

Noel Gallagher
Been listening to this on and off for the last few weeks. It has a few strong moments but I don't find it a very inspiring album. Decent enough though. I think the end part of the album is the strongest and I really like Ballad Of The Mighty I :)

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
