I´ve been looking for old articles about that period, because I´m very interested in all the struggles and troubles they went through the recording of this album. So if have any texts or opinions to share, that will be great. Also... are there any demos or rejected songs from this period? I mean, they changed producers, declined some of the songs...

So, I recently discovered something quite interesting. Bear with me for a moment while I explain this amazing find. So the story goes like this. I bought a Lot of 9 old hard drives from a pawn shop nearly an hour from my house and on one of these hard drives someone had stored all their music. ...But this is unlike i've ever seen before, like the most complete Discography's I have ever seen. This person had meticulously collected music from various artists until the year of 2010. Some of the files date back to 1994. They also did some crazy research and mapped artists that have borrowed from each other and worked together. Its hard to explain.., its amazing tho…

Going to make one X10Y thread for all of the 'Speed Of Sound' events, as they happened, 10 year ago :) Today was a big day for the 1st single off 'X&Y', as it was released as a single, with the B-side: 'Things I Don't Understand' and the official music video also debuted later in the night. [video=youtube;0k_1kvDh2UA] 'Speed Of Sound' was the featured video on this iTunes ad :) [video=youtube;zlSwjGBhZx4]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zlSwjGBhZx4 The promo push was HUGE. At that time, particularly in the UK, you could hear 'Speed Of Sound' everywhere! Shopping centres, restaurants, TV programs, even on people's ringtones, you just could not escape …

It's funny what lockdown does to your brain. I've gone down a total obsessive rabbit hole about these two songs. I really love these two but want to understand more about their genesis. Til Kingdom Come is tuned to C, with CACGBc; while NMFWTTG is tuned the same, except for the 1st string; D#ACGBc. They're both then played with really simple chord shapes. I'm desperate to know. Where did they get these tunings? They don't show up on any other song I'm aware of but they sound incredible. I'd love to explore other songs in these tunings by other artists. Or did they make them up? Chris seems like he's not that into tuning? On Spotify there's a playlist that claims…

About X&Y, the song, I wanted to know why it isn't more popular. I love it and many other people do, but not much about it is out there, and when I tried searching it on these forums, I couldn't find anything... I wanted to know your thoughts on this song, and if people generally dislike or love it, as I can't seem to find out... -Thanks!

I found sometime ago that appears to be Johnny Cash singing 'Til Kingdom Come. I know the song was originally written by the band for Johnny Cash to sing, but as far as I know, it never got recorded. What do you all think? Could it be Johnny Cash? There's a lot of debate in the YouTube comments. If it's not Johnny Cash, does anyone know any information about Johnny Cash and 'Til Kingdom Come? Is there any possibility that Johnny Cash may have recorded a version at any point in time? Did he even get to hear the song?

Hi fellows, since we are currently (alright, actually tomorrow :D) celebrating the 10 year anniversary of this great album, I was curious to hear what your "X&Y Story" is. In which ways do you connect to it ? Do you associate it with a certain feeling, event or period in your life ? When did you first hear it ? I'll start with mine: In fall/winter 2011 I had never ever heard the name "Coldplay", even though I had unknowingly already heard VLV, Paradise and Talk on the radio. I had liked Talk for years, but didn't know or even care who it was by at that time. I came across Speed of Sound a while later on Youtube and immediately loved it, it got forever connect…

Warning sign - you have now been taken back 10 years, back to the X&Y era, where Coldplay are gearing up for the release of their third studio album. Coldplay have become the first British band to have a new entry in the US Top 10 singles chart since The Beatles. Coldplay’s debut at number eight with Speed of Sound is the second time a UK band has achieved the feat. The Beatles managed it with Hey Jude in 1968. Speed of Sound is the highest new entry since American Idol winner Fantasia went in at number one last July. Rapper 50 Cent’s nine-week reign at the top of the chart with Candy Shop was ended by Gwen Stefani’s Hollaback Girl. The Fab Four…

Hi guys, I was just wondering what with the 10 year anniversary of X&Y if people would be interested in a special X&Y anniversary show? I play guitar in Coldplace and we are considering doing this but I wanted to gauge interest from Coldplay fans. The idea would be that the show would be in two halves, the first half would see us play X&Y in its entirety, and the second half would be a mixture of hits. I have seen Pink Floyd tributes do a similar thing playing the whole of dark side and it works really well. It would probably just be a one off unless there was a lot of interest. What are people thoughts? I have included a link to our promo video [video=y…

Coldplay have always had a fondness for Los Angeles and choosing the City Of Angels in North America to kick off the X&Y era was a perfect base for their impending U.S. domination…. Warning sign – You are embarking on a trip, back to 10 years ago, when Coldplay performed their first gig of the X&Y era During the 60 minute secret show in Troubadour, located in Los Angeles, the band played four new songs, including opener “Square One”, “White Shadows”, and piano ballad “What If”. They also played a host of their biggest chart hits including “In My Place” and “Clocks”, ending with a crowd singalong of “Yellow”. At the start of the gig the band looked nerv…

10 years ago, as Coldplay were gearing up for world domination, shortly after the announcement of third album, 'X&Y', Keane's guitarist, Tim Rice-Oxley had revealed: He was close to being Coldplay's fifth member / keyboard player! Keane were still riding on the success of their debut album, called 'Hopes and Fears'. They were part of the many British 'indie' bands who were ruling the charts during the mid-noughties and the have frequently drawn comparisons to the sound of fellow British band, Coldplay. Speaking to Contact Music in 2005, Tim told us of the idea to become a Coldplay band mate, with his friend, Chris Martin. He also felt envious of Coldplay's success…
