  6. ok here is a proper review i left uni at about 4 and got to the venue by 5 and there were about 10 hardcore fan girls lined up in front of the doors so we decided to wonder around for a bit. when we walked past the venue for the second time around 5-15 we heard them soundchecking California English and then they did Cousins. by that stage the fan girls reaslised they were soundchecking so they surrounded us and starting screaming which drove us away. after having dinner and visiting some record stores we returned to line up at about 7-00 while Cloud Control were soundchecking Gold Canary and that other good song they have. anyways we got inside about 7-40ish and headed up to the bar to hang out for a bit until cloud control came on by which time there was a considerable crowd inside. aside from a couple of songs i quite enjoyed the cloud control but i dont see myself racing out on friday to buy their debut. the place was basically packed by 9-30 when vampire weekend hit the stage the crowd went nuts. to be honest i hardly remember the setlist. all i remember is that Blakes got a new face and cousins did go down well but didnt quite reach the level of ecstasy and crowd participation i was expecting. but we got to the last song of the main set, Oxford Comma. holy crap!!!! the place fucking exploded with energy. the moshpit really got going for the first time on a cold cold sydney night and the band really fed off it and responded equally. then they walked off stage for the encore and once again the crowd went berserk and became so insanely loud my ears felt like they were bleeding. then the boys came back on and did Horchata brilliantly, then Mansard Roof. i had no idea how the sets had been recently so i was worried they werent going to do Walcott. then before you know it there it was, Walcott and just when i thought it couldnt any better they do Cape Cod. and i was absolutely floored. pure awesomeness! haha so basically it was a great gig, but i wasnt really connecting with the band for almost half of the set. loved it but ive been to better.
  7. and i totally forgot to mention. i got there early and watched their soundcheck :)
  8. ^^ unfortunately im not. new strokes album has been delayed to 2011. :( a guy at the VW gig was talking about the casablancas show and he said it was really poorly received. that people felt a little ripped off.
  9. sorry if i missed something here. but you're getting home at 1am right? and you leave home for school at what? 7-30am in the morning? thats a good 5 to 6hrs sleep. i call that a very good nights sleep. or is the problem on the other end? they think you'll have to miss school in order to get the venue in time? well i dont see muse hitting the stage anytime before 9PM so that gives you almost 6hrs to your arse to Milwaukee. how old were you again? if you're like 10 or 11 i can sort of see your parents point but any older........
  10. just got back from the show. had a wonderful time!! i might eventually write a longer review tomorrow when im a little less sleepy. but basically the band was in red hot form with only the slightest signs that they were a tad tired. on the other hand the crowd was very much a midweek winter night crowd that took a long time to get warmed up. it really wasnt until the last song of the main set Oxford Comma that there was some real electricity in the room. then once the band returned for their encore of Horchata, Walcott and Cape Cod the crowd went absolutely nuts until the boys walked off stage. great night :)
  11. agreed. they are very much in the "twilight" years of their careers at the moment.
  12. most of my money will be going towards new albums over the next few days. lcd soundsystem, midnight juggernauts, tame impala, dead letter circus and broken social scene. im strongly considering going to LCD by myself and desperately trying to find someone for laura marling before tix go on sale on friday
  13. thom comes across as the type of person who you could easily convince that the world will end in 2012 because the earth will become soo hot and the seas will be soo high we'll all die. that might force him to finish the album and release it.
  14. i would of preferred it if that sidebar followed you as you scrolled down the page.
  15. why does this needs it own thread. mate i know you're not on here often but dont make pointless threads on WoM unless theyre about radiohead.
  16. ^^ yeah im going to try and make it.
  17. *mini bump* first bump in radiohead thread history? i love this :) [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qq_DNfKeLQU]YouTube- Bill Bailey singing Creep[/ame]
  18. i love it how their stage is a mix of their first 2 album covers. very cool!!
  19. good riddance. he was a complete prick during interviews, i will never forgive him for the way he behaved during their last australian tour. the band will be fine without him.
  20. was this new love of fur meant to be a hint that he was going to go solo and call his album Flamingo...........
  21. thank you!! :) and its always fantastic quality when you have lisa in it :wink3:
  22. ^^ well at the end of the day it is the record labels choice when the album comes out as the band is with Capitol who are fairly major-ish
  23. theyre coming to aus in January 2011 wooo!! dates TBC
  24. i think part of the reason might be because they might not to be done yet or they might actually be waiting on the release dates of a couple of others albums to avoid any clashes.
  25. lisa mitchell.......*sigh* :embarrassed:
