  1. yeah i agree that if we're comparing each band on their ability to write great albums, Muse does come a distant last out of the 3. yet you'll find that most (if not all) the people who are supporting muse on this thread are the ones who have had the pleasure of seeing the band live on stage. they (including me) admire their ability to take their music to another level when they play live, they are not afraid to do extended jams and improvisations, unlike the other two bands who rarely ever have any degree of spontaneity in their shows. of course this is all mere opinion and completely objective but we are all entitled to our say.
  2. actually kinda sad. there are hardly 400 posts in this thread and i have over 100 of them. im pretty sure alex isnt far behind. but im glad its still alive.
  3. I feel really sorry for anyone not using Mac Snow Leopard. It is simply amazing. Had a look at a mates laptop last week who is on Mac Leopard and it looked and felt ancient in comparison. Highly recommended upgrade, only $30!!
  4. The first single from tame impala's debut record Innerspeaker will be premiered on triple j at 8am tomorrow. The album out May 14 is arguably the most anticipated debut of 2010 after their wildly successful EP. Having heard several of the new tracks at the bands mediocre BDO appearances I am hoping to pleasantly surprised by this new track. PS: wooooo 100 posts in this thread!
  5. new clip [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YYvWpVz770k]YouTube- Broadcast Yourself.[/ame]
  6. well good luck with that. they are easily one of the best bands of the decade. each of their 3 records are flawless and unique in their own way. they plan on heading back into the studio over the next few months to quickly write and record their next album. if all goes to plan we might have a new AM album as early as the end of the year.
  7. we're at the end of march and quarter of the way through the year so here's my fave stuff of the year Teen Dream - Beach House easily the best album of the year so far. the melodies are stunning, the vocals are near perfect and the album flows effortlessly. the grizzly bear of 2010. but from what ive heard from long time fans of the band this record is quite different from their previous works. Tourist History - Two Door Cinema Club yeah its generic, yeh it sounds like every other indie pop record going around but who cares! its upbeat, catchy, easy to listen to and helluva lot of a fun. the sound really takes me back to the summer of 07 when i was first getting alternative music, this genre was everywhere! I Speak Because I Can - Laura Marling dont like it as much as her debut but i still cant get enough of it. One Life Stand - Hot Chip never really listened to these guys before but loving their work on this album. the title track is my fave track of the year Contra - Vampire Weekend i really doubted VM's ability to make another awesome record after their debut. but they proved me wrong and im very glad they did. cant wait to see them 6 weeks. Rush to Relax - Eddy Current Suppression Ring a good follow up to Primary Colours. need to listen to it more, but so far loving this.
  8. could you throw in something about dying if he doesnt come down to australia soon.
  9. John Butler Trio are doing a free show at the Sydney Apple Store this saturday night. sadly i have no one to go with, damn people and their family easter commitments. and the people who wouldnt mind going dont want to line up 3hrs early to ensure a spot inside.
  10. ^^ theres nothing wrong with being inspired by another band. but i think the reason why muse do cop alot of flack over the queen-esque sound is because the songs that have that sound arent exactly their best tracks. the best example would be united states of eurasia which is a train-wreck (thats my phrase of the week) of a song but because it has that obvious correlation with queen's music, people find it easy to hit them with that criticism. muse's best work, at least imo, is their unique material. songs like stockholm syndrome, new born, citizen erased, muscle museum, knights of cydonia, assassin, time is running out (which is kinda radiohead-ish) and butterflies + hurricanes. im sure in 15-20years time alot of bands will be criticised for copying the tracks mentioned. its just how the music world goes round.
  11. dont want to burst your bubble. but dont expect to hear much from them or about them for next 18 to 24 months. thats the massive downside to being a passionate fan of a band, when they decide to take a break it forces you to take a break from them as well.
  12. am i allowed to love muse and radiohead and be aware of the obvious similarities between the singing styles of thom and matt as well as the similar song structures they have? havent people ever wondered why the three most popular bands on this forum are coldplay, radiohead and muse?? maybe they sound just a little like each other and therefore appeal to the same audiences...........
  13. ^^ damn right. they've also announced that they will use the festival to play most of their new album. so im tipping a release date some time in september.
  14. Nothing wrong with that is there? I'm the same as you. In my case I simply wasn't exposed to their stuff before 2007 as they just don't get mainstream attention. So I knew nothing about them until I got alt music.
  15. i think we should take it slowly.
  16. There you go peoples. not sure why it doesnt work anymore. i was lucky enough to get it early when it was working so here is my copy of it. http://www.sendspace.com/file/h1uhh1 they really should of made it available through itunes.
  17. ^^ thats two of us. and good on you for double posting that. an opinion like that is worthy of a double post.
  18. ^^ i fail to see how you fail to muster up the maturity to respect other peoples opinions.
  19. im starting to feel as though im the only person on this forum who absolutely loves radiohead, coldplay and muse. radiohead makes the best albums, coldplay has the best lyrics and melodies and muse put on the best live show. they're all awesome!
  20. ^^ they could of have at least asked him about if and when radiohead might be heading down here, it is a music mag after all.
  21. im going to see these guys instead of temper trap. rather see these guys for the first time than see temper trap for the second time. even though im not much of a mumford fan, actually ive been highly critical of them for the last 6 months. but my friends are adamant on going so i might as well tag along.
  22. No I love Bluish the most. It's the song that got me into the album and over the last couple of months it's rapidly become one of my favourite songs of all time.
  23. ^^ the song Chris Martin wish he wrote.
  24. Maybe if rock bands were willing to give their multi-million dollar pay packets and earn the same as everyone else then we wouldn't have these problems with ticket prices. Until this recent tour pearl jam tickets averaged approx $60 for their 3hr shows. I don't quite agree with the knowledge based allocation of tickets. There are alot of people who love the music of a band but know very little about the band itself simply because they don't care about anything but the music. A knowledge based system would just favour your fangirls/fanboys rather than those genuinely passionate about the music. Briggins can we call that the In-Rainbows-Live theory??
  25. i dont see how coldplay isnt pop. their sound is exactly what is "popular" and has been for the last few years. i will admit viva la vida was a slight departure from that but everything else theyve done fits perfectly into at least what i would consider as being "pop music". in saying that they are the best pop band of the last 20-30years and Yellow is possibly one of the greatest pop songs ever written.
