  1. so there is any news of a new album? because his been off tour with the chili peppers for over a year now and knowing john he can never stop recording music so im surprised i havent anything from him yet.
  2. ^^ whoops sorry. hahaha
  3. i preferred Neon Tiger and Superman but this song isnt as bad as most people are saying it is
  4. lets admit the only reason AC/DC are making new music (and i use that term very loosely) is because they know theres millions of dollars out there for them to earn by touring and releasing an album. being australian its mandatory i listen to and love the band but theyre doing nothing but destroying there reputation with making songs like Rock n Roll Train.
  5. just finished recording their Sydney 2008 show which was re-broadcast on the radio tonight. I'll upload it sometime over the next two weeks.
  6. it all depends on which city your in just go to their website and you'll find it all there for people outside Aus you can listen to it all online.

  8. In Rainbows changed my taste in music forever.
  9. yeh the killers are a million times better live than they are on cd. so its the tour im looking out for
  10. Everyone must listen to the soundtrack to There Will Be Blood composed and orchestrated by Jonny Greenwood of Radiohead. the man is a genius!! [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7HjWIr80ln4]YouTube - Jonny Greenwood - There Will Be Blood[/ame]
  11. i;ve heard the album a couple of times and cant say i liked it one bit the first time. but then on a second listen some of the songs are starting to grow on me. no doubt his a very talented song writer backed by an awesome band. maybe by the end of the year i might love it
  12. ^^ couldn't of put it better myself. but since this is a music forum i would say Thom as he is most talented
  13. i enjoy narrow stairs much more simply cos it keeps me interested all the way through whereas with Plans there were points where my attention wavered. but I will follow You Into the Dark is my fave.
  14. if we were to consider In Rainbows as eligible for this year then it would be my number 1
  15. well ill get things rolling. this is my list at the moment 1. The Raconteurs -Consolers of the Lonely 2. Death Cab For Cutie - Narrow Stairs 3. The Presets- Apocolypso 4. 16. The Impossible Music Festival is the biggest festival weekend of your life. We're busting out epic live sets all weekend from Friday September 19 – Sunday September 21. You'll hear live shows from some of the biggest names in music. An impossible line up of bands past and present. One set every hour across the Impossible Music Festival weekend. This radio event is broadcast by the government run youth radio station Triple J. The station has been recording live concerts all over Australia for the past 35 years. They hold well over 1000 concerts in their enormous archives. In 2005 the station celebrated 30yrs by playing 55 of their best recordings ranging from AC/DC from 1979 to Metallica in 2004 to Coldplay in 2003 and everything in between. The station focuses on alternative music and Australian artists. The festival is back for a 4th year next weekend and now the station has joined with BBC (England) to bring us an even larger array of shows. The festival will begin late friday night (the 19th of Sept) and conclude at midnight on Sunday night in between you will hear one live concert every hour. Some are recorded in the radio studios, others at festivals and others in arenas. You can vote for which band you will like to hear from a list off about 200 acts, since the event runs non stop for 60hrs you will be able to hear some of the great shows no matter which part of the world you are from. You can vote at the link i've added at the bottom. If you are unsure whether your favourite act is on the list or not just have scroll through, i would be surprised if they are missing. Here is the list from the previous festivals. 2005- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triple_J%27s_Impossible_Music_Festival#2005 2006- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triple_J%27s_Impossible_Music_Festival#2006 2007- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triple_J%27s_Impossible_Music_Festival#2007 The 2008 line up should be finalised by tuesday or wednesday. So make you get your vote in before then. Please note that Australian time is +10 GMT. The Home Page of the event- http://www.abc.net.au/triplej/livemusic/ Attention: Moderators Please do not move this thread to the festivals section as this is not actually are real festival (thus the name Impossible Music). Please do not move this to the multimedia section either.
  17. i think pete wentz is an absolute legend and an incredible musician. his ability on bass guitar is truly second to none and the success of the band is due solely to his skill and creativity. since the band first broke through with their ground breaking masterpiece of a debut record this guy has been re-inventing the instrument. people shouldn't be misled by his good looks, if you look beyond that you will see his true talent. Wentz makes other wannabe bassist like Cliff burton (metallica) Flea (rhcp) and les claypool look like a joke. the only bass player that i would compare to wentz would be coldplay;s very own Guy Berryman. otherwise there is no one quite like him. his spectacular 15min solo's just blow my mind every time we should all be grateful that we can say we were around when Pete Wentz was at his peak (i dont know how he could possibly get any better than he is right now). if the Who's John Entwistle was alive he would be very proud especially of pete's bass work in this video [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yiJyXtMKLzw]YouTube - Pete Wentz Licks Bass[/ame] - i have never seen a man play a bass guitar quite like this (maybe except Guy and nickelbacks bass player). Pete Wentz will go down in history as one of the great rock musicians. i think even led zeppelins john paul jones admitted that wentz is better than he ever was.
  18. that should shut Mr West up for a bit. he had a huge whinge after last years awards where he lost all 5 categories he was nominated for. didnt like the song good life (i guess the vid was OK) but loved the album cant wait till kanye brings out some more stuff but lets all be honest.......do these awards meen anything whatsoever. unlike a few years back most of the awards are viewers choice so its more of a popularity contest than anything else. in my opinion mtv has no where near the credibility it once held in the music world.
  19. ^^ exactly right!!! they havent been down to aus for 5yrs now and have only been here 3 times in their 16yr careers. i guess some bands think they're too good to go to some countries
  20. sorry to turn this into a chili pepepers thread but here is a whole collection of awesome jams by the chili peppers. i firmly believe that john is at his best with his with flea chad and anthony opening jam from 1999- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j4IkLGh-pt8 opening jam from 2006- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b2MWLhgT85s improv at the end of song- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HGcajhEM0Rw - watch from 3:15 onwards) massive solo - - last minute in particular one of his best solo's - - arguably one of the greatest moments in live music history jamming with flea - - better than slane and hyde park but not as good as rock werchter (which i will post soon) finishing jam - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rJEjGSgZ9zg i could go on for pages but thats the best i could sum up how could of a improvisationist he is.
  21. i'm into about 5 of the genre's listed. that must meen im schizo!! what a load of crap!!!
  22. Yellow The Scientist Politick the third one is hard to choose for me but lately it has been politick but sometimes i go for GPAS
  23. ^^ it would be much better news if they announced some extra dates in aus and south america. but people should realise that In Rainbows was nothing more than a compilation of tracks they had performed live over the last decade but hadn't had the chance to record properly so its really no surprise that the boys are ready for LP8
  24. ^^ stolen or did he sell it for drugs. i know that he sold the one that the rolling stones gave him as a gift, are you talking about that one?
  25. yeh top band especially their last two albums. missed out on their aus tour they were only in the country for 6 days but they did webcast a show on MySpaceTV which should be avaiable for download in a weeks time.
