terrible loss for man utd. i'm having serious doubts now over our chances of winning any trophies at all this season. the team as a whole is in a serious form slump and losing our best player this season Nani is the last thing we needed. we've been very very lucky this season but i think our luck has finally run out.

^^ everything else that was decent from last year except Parades. it was really a battle between Bliss Release and Innerspeaker and the panel went for cloud control.

Bliss Release by Cloud Control wins the prestigious Australian Music Prize - AMP. not my pick but a very deserving winner!

i'm a bit like you. there's nothing like a classic test match. the momentum changes, the brilliant spells of bowling and those great long innings. i used to really love one day cricket but recently they've brought in a million changes with the powerplays and stuff like that and i find it hard to follow. i have a love hate relationship with T20 cricket. i love it how it has basically saved the game but i hate it how batting orientated it is. and LOL@ England!! never seen a team be so good at test match and so terrible at one day but then be pretty great at T20......:confused:

as much as i think religion is a critical part of society i am a massive advocate of secular government. there's nothing more wrong in this world than government operating and ruling under the influence of the "church". it has become very clear that a majority of people in western societies aren't very religious yet their governments continue to push policies that please the different faiths. the most obvious one is of course the non-recognition of gay marriage. religion should be a personal thing not public. as a personal thing it is very enriching and enlightening and more often than not has a very positive impact on a persons life, in terms of the values and lessons it teaches them. the billions around the world who possess some faith or another would certainly agree with that. but when it starts encroaching on the lives of others, thats when i have a problem with it. thankfully in the developed world the issue isn't too serious. oh yeah and as a music fan nothing pisses me off more than seeing them "christian rock" section at a record store. i didn't know Jesus prefers some guitar chords over others.....

like me!! at the moment this is how i rate each album Neon Bible - 9.4/10 (second favourite album of 07) A brilliant alternative rock album. Easily the most guitar driven of all their albums and has this awesome looser feel to it which really sits well with me. But the darker moments on the album are what really define it. Funeral - 9.3/10 (third favourite from 04) Originality and quality songwriting is sky high on this album. Any album with a song like Wake Up is freken good in my opinion. Why is it second? I just prefer rockier music. The Suburbs - 8.9/10 (6th in 2010) To be honest the only way i could've been satisfied with this album was if it was better than OK Computer (aka my all time favourite album) so my expectations were insanely high. not surprisingly i was a little let down but still, this was one incredible album. Why is it the worst? the concept of the suburbs didn't quite appeal to me.

i only like Hollywood by them. from what i heard from the J's of the new album, it sounds pretty average. been hearing good stuff about Oh Mercy's album so i might give that a shot very soon. otherwise the year so far in aussie music has been very underwhelming. splendour announced this morning. july 29, 30 and 31. that basically rules out arcade fire. full line up can be expected in the next 5 to 6 weeks.

yeah exactly. and thats why religion is "sometimes harmful". it is used and absued by many political leaders to instill fear in their people. but thats in tandem with their military power, not alone. recent events is testament to the fact that in many parts of the world, this god-based oppression is no longer as paralysing as it once was. as much as it would be a step forward it would be a step backwards. there are countless people around the world on whom religion has had a very positive life changing impact. there are people out there who were destined for a life of crime and immorality but found peace in their faith. for every person who misuses their faith there is another who does good with it. most charities are founded in the church and most of our laws and human rights are derived from the holy books of mainstream religions. sadly these religious customs have been bastardised by certain cultures over time. was there ever a time in human history when we didn't have any religions? was there ever a time when people didnt believe in some higher supernatural power? i think its simply a part of our dna and instead of trying to eliminate it, i think we would be much better off aiming to utilise it in a positive way, like it was originally intended.

i voted mostly good but sometimes harmful. simply because i dont think that if we get rid of all the religions in the world that we would be any closer to world peace. bad corrupt violent people will rage wars and hatred regardless of whether they believe in any god or not. you can get rid of religion and people will still find a reason impose their "beliefs" on others and will often resort to violence to achieve that. why? because humans are naturally greedy and power hungry. we will always want to be more powerful and get ahead of others. and thats essentially the foundations of most wars that have been fought over the last century. its not so much a case of "my god is better than yours" rather its "i think you're a filthy bastard and im better than you so you're gonna die" and "i shall do so in the name of my god" so basically what i mean is that i don't think religion is the cause the worlds problems because if you remove we're still pretty much stuck with the same problems.

at least you have a crush on talented people like Chris, Florence and Guy unlike some other members on this forum............

once again FIFA proves what a joke they are.
