3 month build up to the album? after radiohead's 5 day build up anything more than a week feels too long. i feel that long build ups lack intensity unless than act/band keeps their fans on their feet with gimmicks and interesting promotions all the way through. if AM had come out and said hey we're finished and we're dropping it in 10 days they would've had most of the music world in the palm of their hands for the next 2 weeks. but lets see what they do over the next dozen or so weeks.

my take on the new songs

all 3 songs sound wonderful!

well its only natural for rivals to taunt each other at every given opportunity. but i think tottenhams fate is in their hands. their run home includes visits to chelsea, liverpool and man city which can't be easy but if they play those games the way they played at the san siro i wouldn't be surprised to see them leap frog into 3rd or 4th.

Suburban War? really? i agree the first couple of minutes are a bit of a drag but the part where the song really kicks in would have the best moment on the album. how far do we think AF is from earning the title "biggest band in the world" their album sold very very well, they've won the grammy for best album and will spend the northern summer headlining some of the biggest festivals in the world. it would be nice to see a band hit that level of success while they're still enjoying decent critical accalim and popularity with the mainstream and alternative markets. by the time coldplay reached that level they were offside with critics and had lost their alternative scene popularity. the only artist i think of at the moment who has managed to do it all is Kanye West.

one of my friends did actuary for 2yrs before dropping out. he is brilliant with maths but couldn't handle it anymore. so unless you have an incredible passion for maths and a talent to go with that passion, don't do it.

Omissions for me 1. Rococo 2. Empty Room 3. Half Light 1 &2 could've been compressed down a little. i don't have a problem with the length. a lot of great albums have been an hour or longer and turned out to be a classic. the suburbs is a great example.

thats a very practical thing to study. i would recommend you learn a bit of mandarin while you're at it, i mean that seriously. i'm studying to become a lawyer. a little under 2yrs to go for me :)

England's struggles in this world cup are not at all surprising. they got hammered in their last ODI series and last time they played in india they lost the ODI series 5-0. england has put together a great test team but they have a long way to go in getting a top notch ODI team.

once again i have no idea what to think of tomorrows match. the logical thing would be for barca to walk all over arsenal. but barca seem to bring the best out of arsenal so really anything is possible. barca haven't looked their ruthless best since that loss in north london and we all know of arsenals woes in that time. i'm just hoping for 90mins of high quality football.

i think i should give this album a shot. i remember her from im good im gone but thats about it.

imo Afterglow is the most epic song from Foals but Spanish Sahara is still a brilliant song. Wake Up is much much better live than on the album (like most AF songs)

her music has been really growing on my lately. i'm starting to appreciate what she has brought to the pop music scene. but this Born This Way song has left me unimpressed. the Madonna comparisons are completely valid. the song has a very plain melody and the production is nothing like it has been on her previous mega hits. but i can really see a song like Born This Way being a great concert closer, with everyone singing along to the chorus.

i would say songs like Where the Streets Have No Name and Clocks are pretty "epic"

depends on how much you value it. if i had to pay $700 for a PC i would feel like i was being ripped off because i don't think they're worth that much. but if i was to buy a Mac with the same tech specs for $1200 i would say it is well worth it for what you get (i got a free ipod touch and multi function printer with my macbook pro)

they usually don't release timetable until about May do they? i think the full line up is still about a month away.
