they waited too long to release their sophomore and now the hype around them has all but died out. but maybe thats what they intended, maybe they wanted to release the album without that hype attached to it. and because the scene has now become saturated with similar bands it will make it a little more difficult for them to hold their place in the indie scene. basically, the success of their new album will be dependent on its quality rather than any hype.

so good to see an aussie band doing big things in the States. hopefully they dont catch the curse-of-the-aussie-band-in-the-states and become mediocre (refer to Jet and Wolfmother)

2011 will have to pull off something special to beat 2010 so good luck to it :P i would list most of the ones already mentioned and add The Middle East

well worked at the show last night and was lucky enough to finish early and watch basically the entire show from one of the best seats in the house. so i'll post my reflections of both nights when i get some free time tonight. but i will say one thing now. i did not want to leave my seat last night, i really wish that night could go on forever :(

i mean through the history of modern music not just currently. as much as i love muse, they have a very very long way to go before they can stand alongside the bands i mentioned before.

correct me if im wrong but lady gaga has a lot of respect amongst music lovers in america. by music lover i dont mean people who just listen to the radio on the way to work or something. i mean the type of people you find on here who listen to a fair amount of albums every year from a few different genres. it puzzles me a little but i guess thats just the way it is.

not if the tickets costs as much as they did this time around. just for the record they cost $140 (so about 90 pounds)

my first muse song was TIRO back in 2003, my brother had it on his computer so i started listening to it. but i didnt become a muse fan until i heard supermassive black hole.

in my excitement over seeing U2 live for the first time i started wonder if modern rock music had a big four (like many professions and sporting leagues do) who would be in it. this is what i came up with The Beatles - highest selling band of all time Rolling Stones - "biggest" band in the world for over 40 years Led Zeppelin - the four most talented musician to ever be in the same band U2 - stadium trotting for over 25yrs and showing no signs of slowing down what does everyone else think? pink floyd? queen? ac/dc? bruce?

warning : the following post contains a shitload of capital letters. THE 13TH OF DECEMBER IS FINALLY HERE!! WOOOOOOOO. I WILL FINALLY GET TO HEAR (part of) THE JOSHUA TREE LIVE! :D oo and with an expected crowd of close to 90 000 this will also be the biggest show i've ever been to.

oh yeah i should add. it was a one man show. chester had all of our attention for the entire night. when shinoda came out for his solo bit nobody gave a damn, we were just talking amongst ourselves. but chester gave us everything he had and we all loved it and appreciated it.

well like i said last night was pretty wild. the support act Dead Letter Circus is a band ive been a fan of since they released their debut EP a couple of years ago so it was great to finally see them live. unfortunately they only played for 30mins and the crowd did not get into at all despite several desperate attempts by the lead singer to get us to mosh. he failed to accept that we were all there to see and mosh to linkin park not them. anyways linkin park hit the stage on dot at 9pm which is always appreciated. naturally the crowd surged forward and squashed everyone but they remained relatively tame for the first 2 songs. but then they started Papercut and WOW! the moshpit just erupted and went psycho. i think i was basically thrown from one end of the pit to the other about 5 times in that short song. then they ripped into given up then new divide and i was completely spent after being hammered for 10 minutes straight. at that stage i was begging for a new soft song but my wishes were not granted. brad started the opening riff to Faint and we started that wild dance again with circle pits starting left right and centre. the rest of the night was a similar pattern of relaxing during soft new songs and then go wild during the old heavy classics. i left the pit with my shirt saturated in sweat and it was a wonderful feeling having finally seen and experienced the first band i ever loved after waiting 10yrs. sadly i spent most of the trip home thinking about what it wouldve been like seeing these guys on their meteora tour when i loved every song.

read a review of the Sydney show this morning. the writer said when the band started SMBH a lot of twilight fans screamed "omg its the baseball scene". hearing that makes me throw up a little in my mouth.

just got back from linkin park. i'll post my experience on the LP thread tomorrow morning. it was quite the night. half of my super december is over. the other half starts monday! glad you had a good time bryce. hopefully next time you can jump in the pit and have an even better time!

i would take CE over B+H and Bliss any day. of course all 3 wouldnt be bad :P

LP just a few hours away and i finally get to see my beloved dead letter circus, been a fan since they released their debut EP so it will be awesome to see them live albeit as support for the first band i ever liked.

i would admit that i am influenced a fair bit by critics especially ones i respect. but looking at my top albums. ive been a big fan of lcd soundsystem, arcade fire and kanye west for a long time now, before i knew of their critical success. so it's a combination of coincidence and how much of a sucker i am for critical acclaim.

glad i was at sydney night 1, night 2 didnt get CE!!
