New Coldplay eh?
why is it soooooo freken noisy and messy!!! the start is ok by a couple of minutes in it just sounds a train wreck to the point where you can't hear any of the instruments properly and chris's voice is battling with the wall of sound. whatever happened to less is more :( kinda worked well for them for their first 2 albums.

ehhhhh WTF? so you pick your favourite 10 songs from a selection of 20 and thats your album? based on 1min previews? what a load of crap. what if the 10 i pick don't ever get played live or become singles. what a waste of money that would be. but the whole earning money thing seems pretty cool. simply cos there's the potential to earn a lot of money. i hope they checked this with their accountant lol. this rush release thing is great. the rest seems like an annoying gimmick. *downloads the torrent of all 20*

Kanye West!
Diamonds of Sierra Leone bro! the version without jay! it has some of my favourite lines in it like Does he write his own rhymes? Well sort of, I think 'em. That mean I forgot better shit than you ever thought of. If your stripper name is Porsche and you get tips from many men, Then your fat friend her nickname is minivan. Right when magazines wrote Kanye West off, I dropped my new shit it sound like the best of i love how witty he is. yes a lot of his lyrics are crude and immature but its the wiityness that sets them apart from a lot of other rappers. thats the thing about kanye. he seems to appeal to people who don't usually like rap. i mostly certainly don't care much for it. i change the station every time triple j plays some shit-arse-sad-excuse-for-music aussie hip hop. the only 3 i like are jay-z, kanye and lupe. and its kinda funny that kanye was jay's protege and then kanye was lupe's protege.

Kanye West!
hahaha thanks. those are the words of a man stuck in a room with not much more than a laptop and shoulder high pile of textbooks, for 14hrs a day. so use them as you wish. what i should add is that if you love Dark Fantasy. you could probably start anywhere cos it has a bit of everything and some more. i find myself listening to kanye now after giving those recs. it is incredible to think that even with all his celebrity-dom he has still attracted so much critical acclaim over 5 albums. love him or hate him. the numbers speak for themselves. millions sold worldwide, massive chart hits and critical acclaim. it surprises me that no other act manages to do that. while i'm on a fanboy roll. i might as well post my favourite video. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FnCNWl1DFoA]YouTube - Jay-Z brings out Kanye West for Run This Town, Isle of Wight Festival '10[/ame] why? this was basically kanyes first public appearance in almost 8 months and the first since the taylor swift incident. he has spent most of that time creating Dark Fantasy in a studio in hawaii. just listen to the crowd at 3:17. and you can really see the chemistry between him and jay. its almost father/son like or even older and younger brother. (and does anybody say "whats up" as awesomely as jay?)

WOW!! ANOTHER PERSON ON THIS THREAD!! can i touch you to make sure you're real? (not inappropriately of course....) *deep breath* ok well first of all welcome. hello. contrary to popular belief white people are more than welcome here. so which albums? well since you are seeing him on his Dark Fantasy tour you would be best off listening to that album the most. but if that didn't appeal to you then you can try my personal favourite, Late Registration. it is a far more toned down affair with a heavy focus on string arrangements and i really love that. after that try Graduation which is his most accessible record but also has some of his weakest material. if you love both of those then you will almost certainly like his highly accalimed debut College Dropout which is very raw and has none of the mega production qualities of his more recent albums. he still does 3 to 4 songs from this album so its well worth a listen. finally, 808s. is a tough one. it is beautifully crafted and on a good pair of speakers or headphones can be very much appreciated. but i'm not sure if he'll continue to perform songs from it through the rest of the tour. thanks for coming :) please don't leave please

if you want a band to go back to their "roots" here's what you do. you get their debut album. burn it on to a blank cd. and instead of writing whatever people say... on it write suck it and see instead. and bam! their new stuff is just as good as their old stuff now! magic huh?

i really don't see anything new coming from them this year. and going by how long it took them to make their debut i'm not sure we'll get anything next year either. and i wouldn't be surprised if kevin parker decided to do a different project but imo the smart thing to do would be to cash in on this success and hype and get a sophomore record out there asap.

Coachella To Hold Two Consecutive Weekend Festivals In 2012
i had a good feeling about Coachella after this year event. i felt that the festival had really come of age this year. with the brilliant online webcast they had people all over the world talking about it, i'm sure it trended on twitter 4 days straight. on top of that you had those now legendary sets from arcade fire and kanye. and they have almost a full year to sell the tickets. so if it doesn't sell out now it probably will after the lineup is announced. and with 160 000 people spending $269 each. they should be able to get whoever the hell they want to headline. the gate receipts alone work out to be over $43 million. and when i first heard about this i had the same reaction as Corkus. what the hell are the bands going to do for the week between the shows. but i'm sure there are countless cities and venues to play near and around Indio. they can do what bands do when they come to australia with a travelling festival. they perform at the festival on the weekend and during the week they do their own headline shows at venues in and around that city. we call em sideshows.

hmmm. i think a lot depends on if Future will strip its "techno/electro" vibe and become an all encompassing festival. so over summer we have Parklife - electro/hip hop/ dance based stuff Falls/Sunset - indie indie indie BDO - these buggers are so desperate they'll take anyone and anything Laneway - super indie! will be there regardless of line up. Soundwave - whatever you can headbang to Future - i'm expecting these guys to deliver something big in 2012 Good Vibes - whatever is left have i forgotten any major ones? EDIT: just heard that V Festival is returning. now that makes me feel much better! plenty of space for all our indie faves now.

New Coldplay eh?
i actually didn't mind the whole wardrobe theme the first time around cos i was like oh ok they're trying to be complete and all. but they really didn't need to do it again this time. but at the end of the day it's all about the quality of the album.

but which festival!! there are so many bands who didnt come out for splendour that i'm not sure how they'll all fit on the summer line ups. Arctic Monkeys, Fleet Foxes, Bon Iver, Death Cab for Cutie all would be expecting a good billing on whatever festival they play.

Kaiser Chiefs
don't mind too much about what these guys do. i'm always going to love their live shows.
