i'll answer my own question. it was 3 weeks. so about the same as this one

20th!!! wow lol. i've only had about 4 listens and a few more i guess due to the drip feeding of the songs. can anyone remember how long before release date Humbug was leaked?

well my buddy yeezy is back on stage tonight for his first proper show since coachella. in the month that has past since he really hasn't done much. the SXSW show promised by vevo is still no where to be seen, watch the throne is the same. but he has been prancing around Cannes with his new gf, new car and new material that he decided to play at full volume at a posh parisian restaurant. he performs in Morocco tonight. before taking another month off. as you do. but he has 9 festivals lined up in the 2 months following.

Piers Morgan really needs to grow up. how he landed a major gig on one of the biggest news channels in the world is beyond me. the constant childish bickering with man utd players shows how petty he is and how desperate he is for attention. Re Rooney. *facepalm* i should really stop reading his twitter. i usually like to judge a footballer based purely on their on field talents. but some of the crap he says on twitter makes me cringe. almost end of the season. i really hate june and july :( even though it's peak sporting season down here in australia and in tennis and F1. the lack of club football leaves me looking desperately for other forms of entertainment that can match it. none ever seem to.

i agree too. i sparsely use the other sites compared to how much i use this one. i prefer talking about music rather than reading what somebody else thinks.

^^ thanks for the offer but flights ended up costing me less than 60 bucks so i'm all good :) the train tickets are almost more expensive lol. i get there thurs night and leave brisbane airport late afternoon on monday. and i won't going alone! which is a massive relief lol. i found someone in the last minute. i keep forgetting about eskimo joe. there was something about their last album i found abominable so that might explain my lack of interest.

i use metacritic to see how new albums are being rated. they're pretty comprehensive. i use fasterlouder as an australian music forum. i use pitchfork quite regularly too and i love daytrotter. NPR and 6Music are both pretty great for music discussion podcasts.

i'm finding it hard to decide where to rank this album but no worried about that now. each album is great in its own way. the one thing i would say humbug has over SIAS is that it seemed to have a much clearer structure, it has a distinct beginning middle and end. whereas although this new one does seem to ebb and flow the structure isn't as distinct. but SIAS shows a much more confident sounding AM. on humbug it sounded like they didn't quite know where to take their sound.

yes i am going. just booked my flights! guessing no one saw the announcement on the splendour thread lol they might announce a few more acts but they will probably just be a few DJ's and small local acts. i think the days of major second announcements are over.

i think it's really the us v them attitude that puts me off. we're so great we're so nice and i don't want them to come here and infect us with their imperfections. national pride has been at higher than normal after the series of natural disasters and that has clashed with higher numbers of illegal immigrants and created the environment that i am starting to detest. thankfully a majority still has a heart and common sense and isnt like Greg said above being lead to blind loyalty.

you're lucky in melbourne. the sideshows aren't as close to splendour as they are for sydney. if the Wild Beasts isn't sold out by show date i might just pop in on the night. bit of a splendour warm up!

this is exactly what i'm talking about! i absolute love living in this country. that's vindicated by what i see on news every day. people risking their lives just to have a chance of living here. but in no way do i think that australia is better than any country than the rest. or that its people are special or unique in any way. there's a fine line between patriotism and elitism. the latter seems to be far too prevalent in my community. one half of politics here seems to think that our land is too precious to allow in any person who hasn't been heavily processed and screened by the UN or allow in more than our miniscule quota.

i guess with a few more of us going to splendour this year sideshow news isnt as exciting. but i think it makes for interesting discussion regardless. for me the biggest difference this year seems to be the lack of bands with the ability of selling out multiple shows at a decent venue. last year you had florence, mumford, strokes and lcd soundsystem all of whom brought along a ton of hype and anticipation and in turn a ton of ticket sales. this year there are some very exciting bands on the line up but none are the type to pack out those big rooms. i'm speaking of wild beasts, james blake, foster the people and friendly fires. from what i hear kaiser chiefs and mars volta sideshows should be announced soon. i've come to realise had i stayed home for splendour i would've really only gone to 4 sideshows. kaiser chiefs, elbow, james blake and wild beasts.

in all fairness to Fox. you will be far fetched to find any media organisation that is completely unbiased. in order to pull in an audience you need to appeal to a certain segment of society and you do that by skewing your coverage towards a certain side. down here the publicly funded media outlets are fairly influential and prominent and despite the fact they are by law supposed to be unbiased they have a very obvious soft spot for left wing politics, cos it is the sexier side of politics.
