  1. i'm also curious to know why you called his list "greatest hits"
  2. i only noticed Colin's tshirt the last time i watched that haha.
  3. incredible numbers from the Mexico leg of the tour. U2 with Snow Patrol at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City, Mexico Dates: May 11, 14-15, 2011 Total Revenue: $22,866,542 Tickets sold :282,978 over 3 nights.
  4. yo...imma let y'all finish but Apparatjik made the greatest album of all time. OF ALL TIME!! #yesiknowthatsso2009
  5. yeah but U2 made 6 amazing albums before they started playing it safe (well they were weaker albums rather than safe) coldplay have gone down that path after just a few. radiohead are in a league of their own.
  6. a majority of the crowd will be your usual triple j listener or music fan with a similar taste. look at the line up they're playing with here compared to the line ups theyre with else where in the world. its basically coldplay, kanye then a massive drop to the next biggest. it's probably the smallest festival they're playing at as well. splendour has never seen an act like coldplay circa 2011 before.
  7. you do realise U2's 5th album was called The Joshua Tree.
  8. now that coldplay have infected WoM i might as well go along with it on here. i just watched Coldplay's performance at rock am ring and i wondered. if they play that same set at splendour. how will it go down? will the crowd chant along to viva la vida? will they get excited about Lost? will they give two shits about the new material? will the band realise who they're playing to and play a set that is focused on their first 3 albums? so much curiosity!
  9. If Ryan Giggs wife walks out on him & takes 50% of everything, she'll have 6 more Premier League medals than Steven Gerrard BOO YAH! :laugh3:
  10. he makes upbeat hip hop without the usual crap about bitches and booty. if it isn't brilliant it's at the very least refreshing.
  11. lupe's first 2 albums are brilliant!
  12. Monster video has been officially uploaded onto kanyewest.com but i'm pretty this is identical to the one that has been floating around for 6 months now.
  13. so good to see WoM coming to back life!! i wanna see coldplay do a collab with my new favourite band. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Os-CACRwM8]YouTube - ‪Party in My Tummy‬‏[/ame]
  14. i had that problem with VLV. too many ideas thrown into one album. their first 3 albums at least had a general sound or feeling going throughout the whole album. but like i said yesterday, coldplay is no longer being pitted against your Arcade Fire's and Elbow's of the world. who focus on making "album" albums. their competition comes from the chart topping pop acts who focus on having big singles to keep their fans happy.
  15. damn you beat me to it.
  16. i'm dying to watching this Basement gig! i watched the in rainbows one just the other night for like the 50th time and it was amazing. TKOL didn't sit too well with me so i'm even more curious to see how it sounds without all the studio trickery. when i first heard radiohead's kid a/amnesiac era stuff i was far from impressed but after watching a lot of it performed on stage i realised just how brilliant it all is.
  17. one mention of radiohead and look what happens! hahhahaha gawd i love this place.
  18. so from just listening to each song once. this is how i see it Hurts Like Heaven - is this the same as MX?? :S this is probably the best reaction i've had to a coldplay song since i first became a fan back in the X&Y days. Major Minus - can't stand this. the different parts of the song just don't seem to fit together in a coherent manner Us Against the World - i'm glad they have written a Parachute-sy song but i will wait till i hear it on the record before i judge Charlie Brown - very X&Y so not really the sound i enjoy but could be a crowd favourite Every Teardrop - classic :P and the radiohead comment i made was a jab at the fact that every second discussion on this part of the forum is about how good or shit radiohead are. also a jab at the elitist attitude of radiohead fans (including myself)
  19. but there is a Radiohead.
  20. personally i don't have an issue with any of their first 3 albums. the first 2 produced a ton of great indie anthems and the 3rd had a couple of decent song in there too.
  21. i was lucky actually. it came out on the last day of semester. and theres a great music retailer next to my uni who had about 100 copies of the album right on their entrance so it took me all of 30secs to buy it and leave lol. i've been following this american tour of theirs and i'm disappointed that after changing the setlist around a lot on the first few shows the last half a dozen have had basically identical setlists. they hit the festival circuit after their home coming gigs so i don't think we'll see any interesting setlists from them for a while.
  22. i actually sat and down listened to the album with my undivided attention (something i very very rarely do) and it was a really nice experience. it may not have the same emotion as For Emma but it has this wonderful warmth to it that really wasn't there on the debut. the songs are well structured and very well produced. aside from that unfortunate closing track there is hardly a weak moment on it. it's hard not to compare this to their debut but when you do, it's much easier to appreciate.
  23. hey don't look at me. i'm just telling you what the poll is telling me. the truth hurts.
  24. according to this poll. you're in a very very very very VERY small minority.
  25. are you kidding? have you seen the Waterfall sub-forum poll? over 400 votes. close to half have given it 8 or more out of 10. over 80% have given it at least a 6. i wouldn't call that a backlash of any sorts.
