How do you get an upgrade at a Coldplay show?
I do not have it anymore belongs to my old girlfriend now. Chris waved at me in Vancouver, as it was Andy not Matt that upgraded me. Andy had to go get tickets for me without telling me. I'll see if I get lucky again, I turned them down a second time, but as its my friends first concert ever I'd say yes.

2013 shows- where are Coldplay playing next year?
My theory is that they will be doing a North American Stadium tour. It would take HUGE balls to do though, and it wouldn't be extensive. To put it in perspective U2 had to build 3 Claws to tour. North America alone was expensive. Do I think Coldplay could sell 60,000 tickets to sell out BC Place....yes. Will they take the risk? Who knows.

ColdplayFilm - MX Live DVD
Coldplay Flim will be in one of the next 4 cities. If they are serious about doing a DVD/Film release for this tour we will know for sure by the St. Paul gig. My Logic: 1. They have waited until the third leg to get warmed up and into the swing of the shows. They've worked out the kinks, and mastered the show that they want to be immortalized. 2. They will want to do it in an arena to help minimize costs and to best capture the wristbands. In European/Australian Stadiums its not pitch black till midway through. Arena's can enhance the effect. I mean as cool as it is to see 60,000 Xylobands, 22,000 in a small dark area is way more effective. 3. They will want to record two nights in a row. Mess ups on either night can be interchanged. Simple as that, almost all bands do that. U2 did it in Chicago and Milan and they turned out great. Rose Bowl, not so much. Best example I have. Now my theory for which city it will be.... Montreal will be the two shows filmed and released to DVD. They have 4 back-to-back dated left. Toronto, Montreal, Boston and St. Paul. It will not be Toronto since How We See The World was filmed there. Old horse, they'll want a new city and a new crowd. I also doubt it will be St. Paul, simply because the stress of the last shows and camera's being there is huge. They did it in Vancouver and if not for the second night would have regretted it. So, that leaves Boston vs. Montreal. Filming wise the TD Garden is bigger and more equipment can be fit in there (Crane, stationary camera's in the audience), however, The Bell Center is built with the stands at extreme elevations. You sit on top of each other in that place anywhere in the stands. Also do we remember the tweets from April about the Canadian crowds? By the last Vancouver show they said that it was the best leg so far. The crowds in Canada go nuts. Montreal has a reputation amongst bands for being utterly insane. I also dont buy into the theory that they are filming the entire tour a la Pearl Jam's Touring Band. They will have a world class camera set up to catch the entire experience.

How do you get an upgrade at a Coldplay show?
Just get there early and be super excited. I've sat up top, behind the stage, front row and behind 15,000 people at a festival. Just have fun and the karma will get back to you.

VLV Tour -- any official DVD releases?
Chicago, Vancouver, Barcelona and Wembley have all been recorded from the Viva Tour. I was told by a source in the band, that Vancouver was for the archives. Barcelona was for the DVD but there were some pretty major mess-ups. Wembley was also for the archives. Needless to say, they have the footage to do it. But will they?

How do you get an upgrade at a Coldplay show?
When I got upgraded in 2009. I was at the show really early in my seats with my then girlfriend. We were just sitting there hanging out, she got pretend mad and a crew member came to cheer her up. I started talking to him, turns out he was the video manager. He got called away mid conversation, but he got the point I was hardcore. I named Matt and he laughed. Came back after the first opener, reached into his pocket and said "Just talked to Chris and he wanted me to give you these." Boom row 3 on the stage right ramp. Chris was pretty disconnected the entire show and at the end gave me the Lovers parasol. Then in April when I saw them again I was in the stands behind the stage, row 1(Bought at the box office at 6:30) he noticed me and waved at me. The only reason this is logical as to why he remembers me is because they filmed the 2009 shows and after he gave me the parasol the camera was in my face for a solid 30 seconds.

Small Reminders/Updates & The Coldplay Messenger (feat. Roadie #42!)
I was lucky when I was super close on the Viva tour I had no screens to look at, not that I would have. I also dont get those who go and record the entire show on their phones. Like really people, if you are there to video-tape it all just wait for the DVD. I recorded about 2:00 of the wristbands to show my friends, that was it. Mind you Chris did catch me tweeting a couple times this go round. As far as Miller said about the Canadian crowds, spot on. I was at the second Vancouver show and it was awesome. The band was into it and fed off of it. Night one apparently Chris didn't do much of the banter, but night two was full of banter, ad-libs and plenty of "everyone okay?" For me they were better than the Viva tour on so many levels. I guess last time it was the end of a long leg and the camera's were there, so they get a bit nervous. U2 has said that they get nervous when the camera's are on.

Band members wanted
Id join but you have a DL4, the DD-20 is where its at...but Im from Canada.

I need your advie before buying tuckets
Wait until a week before the show and check again. If that fails, check the day of. Ticketmaster holds tickets for guest lists and what not...if no one claims them, they go back to general public. A buddy of min bought his ticket 30 mins before the show and was seated right behind Gwenyth. Its the same for hockey, every team releases league holds every Monday.

[21-Apr-2012] Coldplay @ Rogers Arena, Vancouver, BC, Canada
GREAT SHOW! I wasn't going to go, however I just decided I couldn't miss them. Went and bought a behind the stage seat, ended up being the first row just to the side of Jonny. I was pleased, considering last time I got upgraded. The wristbands are an amazing idea, and when Bono sees them will be cursing himself. Its one thing to see them in video's but live, its out of this world. Set list was strong, I still feel they need to play more songs. Talk would be amazing on this tour and fit right in. Also, if any song leaves the set at all, it will be DLIBYH. Not much crowd reaction, and if it were anywhere else would kill the show. Charlie Brown, worth the price alone, to hear and see it. Amazing. Also they seem to be doing a better job interacting from the last time I saw them. I was very surprised. Also, Chris came out on the catwalk at the back, looked at me, had a weird look on his face then smiled and gave a slight wave. Must recognize me from the last time going through the video. He did give me the Parasol. Good job Coldplay.

What time does coldplay go on?
9 PM usually is when Back to the Future comes on. When you hear 99 Problems get to your seat.

DVD after MX Tour?
All the wristbands have #COLDPLAYFILM on them so far, as well they have shirts with Live 2012 on it. They are releasing a DVD from this tour at some point. Also for Viva, they have Vancouver 1+2, Barcelona and Wembley all filmed. The Vancouver film is for the "archives" is what I was told by Andy. I have to assume the Wembley is the same. However, U2 have filmed concerts for archives and released them before (Slane Castle and Live in Milan)

Pearl Jam
Heading over to see them in Amsterdam both night! Due to this, Im skipping Coldplay two nights in Vancouver...Im not crazy at all.

Seen Coldplay Three Times...
Over the last 3 years I have seen Coldplay 3 times, and am able to make it up to 6 times in four years. However, in the time between I have seen a lot of other bands. The first time I saw Coldplay they were upstaged by their opening slot of Jay-Z at the Pemberton Festival, the gig was plagued with sound issues and inane festival organization. I then saw them two times in a row a year or so later. First night I was closeish to the stage and loved the show. The next night I was lucky enough to get right upfront. First off I have to say, they were once again upstaged by their opener, this time Snow Patrol. Awesome crowd interaction and participation. They knew how to rock. Coldplay then came out and they gave the crowd nothing. Sure Chris asks how we were doing 90 times and guided the sing-a-longs. However I believe I was a fairly enthusiastic crowd member and got one notice from them all night, right when I was about to give up. They should have just kept the screen up form Life in Technicolour. Next beef, I have a comparison. I have seen Coldplay three times and spent well over $400 to do so and heard 25 different songs over the three night...25 of 54 songs played, 46 in two nights. I have since seen Pearl Jam twice, only paid $150 for both shows, and had just as good seats as what was paid for Coldplay. I got crowd interaction from all the band members even the flippin drummer had more interaction than Chris. On those two night I heard 51 separate songs, out of 64 played! Pearl Jam played for longer on one night, clocking in at just under three hours one night, than Coldplay did on two shows combined. I am having trouble paying for tickets to see a band play the same songs over and over for the sake of production value. They have only been pounding out festival length set lists thus far and I really doubt they will add much more. Trent Reznor said it best Coldplay is a commercial brand with billboards and over produced albums and shows geared towards making money and nothing else. Their music is kind of like McDonalds, leaves you full but no satisfied. I disagree as I like their music, but agree on their over produced live shows.

Pearl Jam
European Tour anyone?

Pearl Jam
I never liked Black, but then I really listened to it and I love it. I've seen them play 50 different songs and that one of the two I want to hear myself before I die...the other being Daughter with the It's Ok tag. I got the boot for the show I went to and it was pure amazing, the band was on that night. Loose yet tight. I listen to it over and over and say to myself "I was there, I heard Present Tense, Wishlist and Glorified G back to back to back. I heard the best version of Chole Dancer out there." I can tell that the boys are a little tired of American tours. To celebrate their anniversary they rocked Canada out, which Ed said in 2005 rejuvenated the band and rekindled their love of playing. Then South and Central America where every night the crowds got better and better. How amazing!?

Charlie Brown Chords?
More a solo acoustic style to it.

U2
From the Sky Down should have been called Rattle and Hum Pt. 2. I mean come on, Edge singing a ballad solo? Wonder where I saw that before... U2 were very impersonal once again with this one and I don't believe they are capable of that...Bono at least. He leads this film obviously, but I found myself getting angry at how much crap he was spewing. The film starts off slow, picks up a bit but filters off into mediocrity. I would have loved it if I had not seen PJ20. First off they got Crowe to do it, a film for the fans by the fans. In no way was it all Eddie talking either. In fact he wasn't in the film for the first 20 minutes! They actually had good interviews, good archival footage and used it right. They set out to tell a story and they did it right. U2 failed at it. After seeing PJ20 I feel in love with songs that "wouldn't interest many", they knew the songs and stories behind them would hook the audience, not just hardcore fans. U2 beat One over the head with an Iron pole till I wanted to smash my tv. Pearl Jam barely talked about the writing of Jeremy or Alive, there was little mention of Black aside from a brief powerful interview from Vedder coupled with a performance. If U2 had actually gone into the stories behind the songs, mixed them with footage of the songs. Showed the tour and the affected it had on them. Adam's drinking problem and how it really nearly ended them. Once again Edge's divorce is what fulled the album, so the fact they didn't touch on it was the worst thing they could do. It should not have been Bono leading the film, had it been a Joshua Tree Doc then yes. This album is all Edge start to finish. The film drowned the band in Bono. Pearl Jam really made them look bad.

U2
I did not like From the Sky Down that much. I felt it to be...too pretentious. All they talked about was how hard they had it, that they weren't gelling with very little focus on the music. I wanted to hear the stories behind the songs and the only one we really got was 'One' and 'Mysterious Ways' the latter simply because it and One were combined. I wanted to hear about Edge's divorce more and how they wrote Wild Horses and So Cruel from that. I wanted to see more about the tour and how they took the world by storm. To me this was a continuation of Rattle and Hum, all the pretentious carried over. I thought for sure this would have been better than PJ20, but it doesn't even come close...Pearl Jam tell the stories behind their early stuff, show old tour footage and talk about their feeling. U2 do not. They really need to never make a documentary again, this is their second fail at it.

Slowed down the Intro :D

Pearl Jam
Like I said before, I LOVED Crown of Thorns from PJ20 and longed for it, even at the long shot it was. I was in no way familiar with Chloe Dancer. I have to admit it, Chloe Dancer makes me verge on tears everytime I hear it. The piano is simply amazing. Ed once again managed to somehow one up the Andy Wood version. Now in saying that I only have the Mother Love Bone version. "But Im proud to say, and I wont forget Time spent laying by her side Time spent laying by her side And dreams like this must die And a dream like this must die Dreams like this must..." That song before makes Crown so much better, kind of puts the whole story together, it feels naked without it. That last part made me cry, as it helped me come to a realization that I may always cherish the time spent by Chloe's (not her name) side but the dream of being with her must die... Then Crown of Thorns kicks in and it may not be a breakup song but to me it is. Im so happy that I got to hear this live, and that Andy's words reached me via this band. It still amazes me that they went 10 years without playing Chloe Dancer before Crown until this tour. Im so honored to be at the second show it was ever played at! Sorry Im kind of rambling, I just love this song, and Im so happy I got to experience it live. Coldplay, I challenge you to listen to some Mother Love Bone and Temple of the Dog and write some music like that...this pop stuff is forgettable. Andy Wood wrote one album and will be remembered forever.

Pearl Jam
PJ20 started my change and I dove really deep into their catoluge and thank god I did. I wouldn't have known Garden, Crown of Thorns or Porch...my three highlights of the entire show. I won the lottery for Coldplay and saw them row 3 right beside the ramp and my biggest complaint from the show was how canned it felt and how uninvolved with the crowd they were. During 'In My Place' Jonny and Chris did their thing right infront of me and we were all crazy into it and got nothing from either of them. Meanwhile McCready was throwing picks the entire night dedicating solo's to people. The entire night I tried my hardest to get their attention, it was easy to get Gary's attention and me and their bass player were communicating the entire set. I finally got Chris' attention during 'Lovers In Japan' where he acknowledged me and gave me the Parasol. The security guy even said I was probably the most into it and persistent the entire Canadian tour he saw. Yet Eddie lost his shit during Ole for people not being into it. 100% different. They go off their gut that night. Its not a canned set list like Coldplay and even U2 pump out nightly. Live music nowadays has been divided between a concert ad shows. Only a handful of act put on a concert where they let the music and themselves entertain without lasers and elaborate stage designs. I agree you need to see Pearl Jam live, but beware if you do, your love for Coldplay may fade, especially if you get an amazing set like I was treated to. I have spun my 09 bootleg for the last year since I've had it. This one will be played to my children...Chole Dancer was life changing. The last couple days I have just changed...Pearl Jam is my anti-depressant!
