  1. Radiohead may have been better, but Coldplay was better then U2. This from a U2 die hard
  2. Surprised they arent doing ACC. Also saddened they arent doing a huge tour. Im likely going to buy a few and fly out from Vancouver. Im on the fence. Last Time I saw them, it was outdoors and sucked. I may just spend a few extra dates with U2.
  3. Get On Yout Boots is a good single. Nothing more.
  4. Yes I am indeed a hardcore U2 fan. Also with that, Im a huge Coldplay fan. Coming off a time where I havent been that front and center with Coldplay and listening again I became critical of Viva. U2, have produced way better albums then Coldplay.
  5. Thanks for saying it better then me. He is constricting himself because of critics. Something he vowed not to do. Prospekts March was a bit better, ore heartfelt, but not on AROBTTH level. And on U2, they have produced some of the best records in the last 15 years. Even their worst album sold millions of copies. I am willing to bet my first born that No Line On the Horizon will be better then anything CP can hope to release. When a guy like Daniel Lanois says this is the best album he has ever heard. You know it means something. The thing U2 have always done that sets them apart, they did the whole experimental thing, and genuinely. Achtung Baby, was an amazing album, and completely different then the Joshua Tree. Zooropa, was a brilliant album. Pop, was pure beauty, and if you can release an album like Pop that was never completed, then you have talent. Bono has and always will write with his heart. I also have to say Coldplay live, was very generic. I wasnt compelled by it. Not until Politik. Maybe cause it was a festival, maybe cause of where I was, just didnt feel it like I've felt it before. Chris I beg you to givce the critics the middle finger, and write with your heart!
  6. Im implying that 2008 was a easy year. Viva La Vida wouldnt hold up against U2 any day of the week. If they do plan on a new release this year, then yay! The only thing is, the world will see why U2 are gods, and why Coldplay will just be the filler until the next big band of U2s caliber comes along. Im implying U2 are stronger musicians then Coldplay.
  7. I would disagree, their new single is very very good. Its just some people dont appreciate good, different music. They use a thing called talent, and another thing called not sounding the same.
  8. Yes 3, was 4 till Prospekts March. LiT - LOVE IT! But lyrics added so much CoL - ITs good but not great, a little to overproduced. Lost! - Not nearly as good as the acoustic piano version 42 - One of the most overhyped songs ever. I expected an Epic song like Bohemian Rhapsody, Stairway type song, not to that level of epicness, but an epic the way he said it was a three part song and all that hype. I got what I expected in OCtober with Snow Patrol Lovers In Japan/Reign Of Love - One of the three...just a great, happy upbeat song. I loved it, but wish the production was a little less. But still amazing. Reign of Love...reminds me of a parachutes song, so automatic love. Yes - Just didnt like, that much. Like the low register, but it was better done with Prospekts March/poppyfeilds and Now My Feet Wont Touch The Ground. CSC, liked it at first, not anymore.... Viva La Vida - Easily the best track. Just perfect in my mind. This is the stuff I want more of. But with piano and guitar not strings. Still their best song live. Violet Hill- Coldplay, Rock? Who would have thunk it? I was sufficently excited when hearing these two tracks in May, these two are the last of the three. They have the new sound to them, but also still feel like classic coldplay to me. I feel comfortable. Strawberry Swing - Ambitious, but just never liked it. DOAHS - Cool song, reminds me a bit of old coldplay, but it feels to forced, and to much like Fix You pt. II
  9. I know the two are completely different. Its just with me something is missing from VLV, that kind of showed through on PM, but not to much. Usually with most people it takes a few listens to get into music. I have never really listened to VLV too much. Maybe cause deep down I didnt like it. Bringing in Eno, it excited me, I jumped for glee. Why? He is an unofficial member of my favorite band, U2. He helped U2, make their 4 absolutely best, historic, and downright brilliant albums. He himself in his own is a musical god. He gave Coldplay a lot! I must say, he did wonders. I just like U2 Eno better. I have come to expect weird and far out echos and effects. Its U2, its cool. With Coldplay though...VLV doesnt feel like Coldplay. Its to overproduced. There I said it. Eno added to many effects, I said I like Lost?, its basic stripped down, and requires nothing but Chris. Postcards From Far Away was the best track out of this year from them, its not over produced. LiT was amazing because it was so basic, yet so intriguing, and new. But Yes, was just too much for me. 42, that is now how i spell disappointment. I do have to say I loved Prospekts March, because it seemed more back to basics. Glass of Water lyrically, was pretty good. But musically the best stuff they have produced as a whole since Politik. Im hoping that they dont add so many effects and stuff that needs playback live. I want a good solid song. Im no longer expecting a Joshua Tree from them though. We already have it. And on the quick topic of filler. Every album has it. Even VLV, I only listen to 3 songs from that album now.
  10. Then I am damned to loving X&Y! Which I dont hate actually. I am not saying VLV is a bad album by a stretch. I just think, they need to go back to singing about their lives. I agree with the Lovers In Japan comment. That song is full of emotion and is a sappy love song, one of the best on the album. Reign of Love was great, I loved it, because it was classic Coldplay. I appreciate they are going in a new direction for Coldplay, I love it dont get me wrong. I just think Chris needs to let some emotions in and influence a little more. Lost? is my favourite track, simply because its a piano ballad. I want some old Coldplay infused with this new Coldplay, which we saw on PM, and I was excited and wished that was the base for the album with he stellar tracks added from VLV. They are all growing as musicans, and its great.
  11. The other night I was listening to A Rush Of Blood To The Head, which i consider to be Coldplays best album. The Scientist came one, and I was quickly reminded why I love Coldplay, and why The Scientist is their best song. On Parachutes and AROBTTH, they sang about what everyone human has, emotions and angst. Song we connected with. The Scientist for me has always had a double meaning ever since storytellers. Where Chris talked about the media and how being married to Gwen and being in the public eye is hard. That he would never sing anything personal again, and sing about things like art, history and architecture. Jon told him to not edit anything, and it does show a bit on X&Y. AROBTTH is full of emotion, The Scientist, Green Eyes. On Parachutes you have Yellow, Trouble, and Shiver. Viva La Vida (song) is about the fall of a King. Violet Hill is about a soldier going off to war. Lovers In Japan is just about Lovers in Japan. Prospekts March is a story of history as well. I always think aftermath of a war. LiT ii, is just a happy song. Glass of Water, is about seeing your future in a glass of water. Sorry Im not diving to deep just hitting the literal meanings here. The only new song with any emotion is Lost!(?, @, +). The best being Lost? which to me is the best song from the EP/LP, because it shows the emotions of Chris and the guys. For them to write a great album, Chris needs to write about his feelings. Happy or sad. I love VLV, but I dont want to hear about Kings, and bells. I want sappy love/angst songs!
  12. Its an awesome song. I loved it the first listen. It has a new sound to it mixed with old U2.
  13. I think IF...a big if...they release it, it'll be more a Prospekts March approach. A old Parachutes Coldplay, meets experimental boundary pushing Coldplay. I do bet they wont release it though. Not due to it being ready or good, but because of their low self esteem. They now have serious competition coming in March. U2 are releasing an album, they dont need the album to be good to make a HUGE splash. Now the album is supposed to be their best since 1991, so expect a HUGE year for U2. Coldplay will be to scared to play ball with the big boys. I hope they do, I hope they decide to take a stance and show they aren't U2 Jr. If they do release LP 5 in 2009 it will prove to a lot of people these guys are serious. That they are the U2 of our generation, the band who can produce effectively and consistently. Lets hope!
  14. No Line On The Horizon is going to destroy Viva La Vida. That coming from a huge Coldplay fan. I expected a lot from Coldplay when I heard Eno was on board. When we get reports of U2 in Fez with Eno, Lanois, and Lillywhite...I expect brilliance. I expect Joshua Tree, Achtung Baby. I expect something new and original. Boy am I excited for this album...all I know is its gonna be something new and amazing. Of course I do expect Mercy, but I have a feeling we wont get it. None the less. How many plan to buy the $100 option. I know I have mine ordered already!
  15. I tried getting it at 4 my time...unsuccessfully. But logged on at 7ish and listened in bed on my laptop. Was in awe! Then realized Viva La Vida was going to be very very different Coldplay.
  16. Get on Your Boots is expected soon. Video was filmed the other day in London! Im so freaking excited!
  17. No Line On The Horizon! March 3rd! 73 days baby! 2009 is U2s year, sorry Coldplay, U2 is coming to town!
  18. Hey you seem to know your stuff. I recently got Adobe Audition 3.0 and would like to know how to add and use VSTi and MIDI. Do I need a controller? I have a Line 6 POD(teachers) which has MIDI support. I was just wondering if you could give em some basic user stuff for Audition. Thanks
  19. I get a lot of the basic MIDI. I get how the waveforms and what not work. I have actually wanted to build a MIDI guitar pedal for fun. MIDI is great cause you can get a lot of the Viva la Vida or death and all his friends, sounds. Like the hammer piano in Lovers(which is why he uses the controller) the instrument for LiT (ii). Plus so many synth modes....oh so fun! Im looking to buy a more advanced system as i have a good slush fund set aside for my music stuff. And hopefully a new guitar in March too. I would have it all now if I hadnt taken up an expensive hobby in photography.
  20. Rumor is that they went back to record a whole new disc too. Lillywhite and Edge (I believe) had mixed the first finished Disc for a November distribution. Then Bono caught a second wind, kinda like Coldplay and delayed and went back. I hope to record new stuff altogether and not to overproduce the stuff they already had. Which is where my two disc theory comes in. Lanios has said he he mixed one of the new U2 albums. Now lately Bono's voice has come back not like it has been since 1989.
  21. Its MIDI. I get how its simple yet complicated. I am likely going to buy a Controller and set-up some MIDI software on my laptop. Thanks for the model. You obviously dont know his MIDI set up though eh?
  22. Get rid of the Les Paul and go back to Fenders! Im kidding...well not really but, get a new strap maybe? Mine works well on most guitars.
  23. Peral Jam did something like that in 2000. A couple rodies filmed a lot of shows. They then compiled it into a 30 track DVD called Touring Band. One of the best music DVDs I own. And they'll do what the Foo Fighters did and film at Wembley. Only if they preformed Slane Castle could it get bigger...*sigh* Coldplay at Slane Castle. I'd fly to Ireland to see that.
  24. I'll ask when Coldplay.com is updated...its currently down for me. The keys that are usually white are black and black are white... inverse. Nothing to do with sound....but that would be cool.
