  1. The song definitely wasn't good enough so I'm not surprised. I also didn't expect it to be so forgettable but it really is. No where near as good as Atlas.
  2. Perfect post I agree what all you said. I'm always amazed that some people are on here are irritated or get over-defensive when someone who fell in love with this band in 2003 is critical of their recent strategies and output. The points you made are definitely constructive in terms of what they're musically and technically capable of compared to what they're actually producing. The change in sound has been so bizarre and overwhelming its taken me a few years to accept them for what they are now. Their evolution has certainly been a lot more dramatic than what I've witnessed with all my other favorite bands.
  3. ^ Totally agree. Just to change the mood in here a bit here are a few artists that I dream about Coldplay collaborating with :): Peter Gabriel, U2, David Gilmour, Depeche Mode, Eleni Karaindrou, Muse, Noel Gallagher, Rob Swire, Fran Healy, Dave Grohl, Amy Lee and a few others.
  4. I think its way too early to make assumptions about LP7 as well. The negativity and pessimism is unnecessary. I do however believe we can criticize the band's decision to work with Rihanna again. We even have the right to be outraged by it if it turns out to be true. If you're the type of person who worships these people and attacks anyone who criticizes the band with militant aggression you really need to broaden your mind.
  5. Terribly disappointing. They don't seem to learn from their mistakes.
  6. 1. God Put a Smile Upon Your Face 2. Politik 3. Rainy Day 4. 42 5. Ghost Story Alternate: 1. Square One 2. Daylight 3. A Whisper 4. Major Minus 5. Cemeteries of London
  7. Its perfect! Everything is much easier to recognize and read now. Thank you so much.
  8. Absolutely. I hope no one is offended by our discussions. They can leave anyway! I agree this is not LP Underground and the band don't give a damn about what we think but it's fun to discuss stuff.
  9. You guys have made some valid points. I think it's all about the will and desire to challenge yourself technically and musically. With writing lyrics as well. I know the band has long realized they're not as skillful or talented as Radiohead or Muse but why should that stop them trying to create more complex experimental music? They're now too comfortable where they are at the moment so things really need to change. I've also said before that dynamics within the band and the writing process need to drastically change.
  10. A long hiatus would be very beneficial at this point in their career. If it results in a positive step toward creating a groundbreaking album I'm prepared to wait 5 or 6 years. They need to take a step back and really think about what they have and haven't achieved. They need to think about their legacy and how they'll be remembered. About what they could have been and what they are.
  11. I still believe the most realistic prediction is MX 2.0, except with a lot more snyth and Will will only use electronic drums. I just want them to get this whole thing out their system and over with. Then a hiatus (which is long overdue) should be in order. After a few years they could come up with something more reminiscent of Coldplay circa 2003.
  12. Well that is depressing. I hope it doesn't represent the people on this forum. O, All Your Friends and Ghost Story are vastly ignored. The fact that ASFOS, one of their worst songs to date, is voted best says it all really.
  13. After watching the Ghost Story video several times I've come to the conclusion it's the best music video they've done since Strawberry Swing. It's a huge shame so many people won't ever hear the song or watch the video.
  14. I realized I've had this bizarre "condition" if you like for the past few years. Basically throughout the day I'll be doing whatever and there is always a Coldplay song playing in my head. And impulsively I start to hum and then think to myself I know every lyric to every song from everything they've ever released and kind of freak out! Honestly it happens everyday even though I sometimes go days without listening to any music, or not their's anyway. I just find the obsession both weird and surreal. It's also interesting when you realize no other artist or band has had such an effect on you.
  15. Very true! Those are the type of songs they're actually really good at. I guess we still have to wait for their full-on rock album. LP8 maybe?! After a long hiatus hopefully.
  16. That would be exhausting! More like a hundred times or so.
  17. 01:22 to 01:44 just takes my breath away every single time I listen to it. And I've gone way over a thousand listens :earmuffs:
  18. I genuinely think Miracles is great. It's richly textured with a big wall of sound, the instrumentation is superb, Chris's voice is heavenly as always. And you can clearly hear it's very much the whole band putting everything into it. The production is also better than both MX and GS. I don't even need to go into the melody since Coldplay are pretty much the best melodic musicians in the history of music. I've said a millions times the ideal scenario would be for them to create an album reminiscent of their earlier work but since that won't happen any time soon I'll be happy if LP7 is similar to Miracles rather than an album full of EDM and happy electronic crap.
  19. I don't understand why they did this. When they played A Whisper at Royce Hall I thought what a magnificent move. Why not have a show where they replaced all the hits you mentioned above with older classics. There is so much on Parachutes and AROBTTH that we're just dying to witness live. A missed opportunity indeed.
  20. You've raised some valid concerns. I've been saying the same thing for a long time now. The reason I like Ghost Stories and Miracles is I finally managed to accept the fact that Coldplay isn't the same band anymore. I've come to accept they're incapable or unwilling to challenge themselves to create another masterpiece that resembles their earlier work. I had the exact same issue with Linkin Park and as a fan its certainly difficult to witness the decline in quality. Coldplay's change has been more drastic though and they seem happy with what they're putting out and there's nothing we can do.
  21. Highs: - The entire era was great. It produced a resurgence of love for the band in me. Lows: -ASFOS. I hate everything about it. -True Love and ASFOS music videos. They might as well not bother with videos anymore.
  22. I think its well known I'm fiercely in favor of the band returning to their older sounds but all I will say is this song is breathtaking. From 1:20 to 1:45 is about the most beautiful music the band has created. The song is absolutely flawless and for me better than anything on GS, apart from Ghost Story (which is their best song since AROBTTH). Coldplay are just masters of creating beautiful songs and once again I'm weak at the knees with Miracles. Just like VLV, I don't WANT the band to sound like this but I'm happy if its the direction they're choosing.
  23. They fit the categories perfectly. I actually think GS has a chance of winning at least one since they're a full on pop act now. With MX people couldn't really figure out what the album was trying to be. They definitely deserve Best Music Film.
  24. M83's Hurry Up, We're Dreaming is a great title. I was hoping Coldplay would do something similar with LP7 (dream rock). But complex music isn't their thing so...
