LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
I doubt this anonymous information is correct but if it is I'm even more disappointed. I find the band's involvement with Tidal totally unnecessary and embarrassing. Same goes with Global Citizen and all their other endeavors (the whole idea of celebrities trying to save the world is ridiculous but that's another topic entirely). I cannot stress enough what a huge mistake the exclusion of Ghost Story and All Your Friends was so I sincerely hope it won't happen again. But that is most likely the case. The album is probably full of ASFOS and Paradise songs so they're releasing the more mature songs as deluxe exclusives on either Tidal or Apple.

If Miracles was a sign of things to come from LP7....
I know I agree with you! But check out the title of the thread ;)

If Miracles was a sign of things to come from LP7....
NO. Coldplay are much more capable than that. Much much more. Let me put it to you this way. If Coldplay were Ford, Miracles is like one their horrible camper can thingies. But AROBTTH and VLV are like a Mustang GT500. I know if you're not American or into cars you wouldn't get what I'm trying to say but hey...

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
I've been listening to a lot of VLV recently and I realized I'm still amazed at how unique and wonderfully experimental that album was. Now, as everyone is aware here I'm definitely in favor of the band's darker and grittier sounds so whats really interesting is how I think tracks like Rainy Day and Death Will Never Conquer are heavenly breathtaking and I rank them really high along with some of their best work yet. They're not exactly rock songs but they're not mainstream pop music either. Both songs have that unfathomable Coldplay quality and feel to it and work really well in VLV's context. Its the same story with The Goldrush and Lost. I certainly don't feel that with Miracles (a lot of people think it could be an indication of how they'll sound on AHFOD) and I'm not even gonna start with MX and ASFOS. I can't quite put it into words that feel and quality I'm referring to so I'm just going to call it MAGIC. Coldplay trademark magic. Something like that! A track that DID have this magic was Ghost Story. The moment I first listened to it was nothing short of an epiphany. I thought thank fucking god! They haven't lost it!

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
That is actually a very interesting point. As I mentioned earlier I don't care much for AHFOD and I'm already more interested in what they do after this since I was hoping when all this crap is over they can get back to making rock songs; IF there will ever be an LP8. But they might go on all Maroon 5 and that I'm afraid will be a total disaster.

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
Bitterly disappointing news. I'm not overwhelmed by sadness though. Unfortunately in the past few years I've learnt to expect the absolute worst with Coldplay. What I do find sad is the fact that I've grown so apathetic and removed that I kind of don't care about their output anymore.

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
I don't understand what the rush is in here. I personally would like them to really take their time so wouldn't mind a release in 2017 or 18 even. Many bands who come out with great albums sometimes even take up to 5 years to create it. I've always felt there is not enough time between Coldplay albums with their 1.5/2 year cycles between releases. I wish Chris hadn't announced the album so soon.

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
All great points  The vibe I'm getting so far is they're trying to delve even deeper into the pop and electronic style with LP7. They're pushing it one last time and this time it could be to the extreme. So I wouldn't be shocked at all if there were a couple of EDM songs and or if the album was all sugary pop songs. Another collaboration with a mainstream artist is certain. All this could potentially be extremely unimaginative and generic but people will like it nevertheless. Unfortunately the band have to abide to what Chris decides. He is the main driving force and they just have to go along with it. (By the way I've mentioned several times on other threads how the dynamics within the band need to change drastically)

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
That theme is present in the entire album and it kind of gives this great complexity and edge to the work as a whole. There is this serenity on the surface but when you're properly immersed into the songs you feel a certain chaos and rage from within. Its an astonishing quality and I think they managed to recapture this again only a few times on X&Y and VLV.

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
[video=youtube;wb_7C1vMpRQ]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wb_7C1vMpRQ I always have mixed feelings when I watch this. Obviously I'm absolutely mesmerized by the utter beauty and perfection of it but I'm also filled with disappointment and just ask myself "what if?". At this point this is a band that could have realized an entirely different potential. I know that every time me or someone else brings up this issue people say they had to "evolve" or change drastically to maintain their popularity or whatever reason it is people use. But I just don't think thats true. The question I ask myself all the time is is there any time left or willingness for the band to create a similar masterpiece. Anyway I didn't want to pollute the thread and just thought a bit of nostalgia helps every now and then; so don't get mad!

***The official "Editors" thread***
They were a superb band once! Up to "In This Light and on This Evening". When Chris Urbanowicz left things kind of went downhill, as this latest song also showcases.

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
I don't think I'll pay for their albums ever again. Or concerts for that matter. Especially since their output for the past 7 years hasn't satisfied me. Coldplay are financially extremely wealthy so I'd rather spend my hard earned money on new bands or artists who actually put out really good music but are less well known.

I seriously hope this "source" is wrong. Don't really know what to say anymore! I think I'll refrain from making further comments until the album is out.

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
As I've mentioned before I accepted this new Coldplay a long time ago so I don't vigorously care about their output anymore. I'm dead serious when I say a few years from now we may witness collaborations with the likes of Pitbull and that lady with the enormous bottom. Having to lower your expectations more and more after each album is what I find really odd with Coldplay. There are/were bands out there, U2, Pink Floyd, Radiohead, Anathema, Foo Fighters, Porcupine Tree and so on who I know strive for perfection and improvement and experimentation on all their albums. They're always trying to somehow shape the musical landscape and leave a lasting effect. After a certain point I realized Coldplay are obviously not in the same category as those artists but who cares anymore?! The band is happy doing what they enjoy. They don't care about what fans and critics think and just want to put out what their hearts desire; which I completely appreciate. Their music is like a train journey. Some people got on at the beginning. Others joined it later. Every once in a while an entire generation gets on and then leaves again. What this means though is very very few people are still on the train ;)

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
Its a waiting game for now. Naturally we want the band to blow us away and amaze us, but that hasn't happened since 2008. People are justified to worry if the likes of Stargate and Avicii are involved. Before PoC was released I was adamant its not gonna turn out well. But people kept saying "noooooo don't be such a pessimist. They'll venture into pop and its gonna be the greatest fucking thing since Gagarin went into outer space"! And it wasn't. It was shit. The song is shit. The video is shit. The whole fucking album is shit. But I'm sure Coldplay will prove us all they're still a relevant great rock band who feel they still have a lot to prove

Jesus fucking Christ. Their work is swathed in utter mainstream blandness and misery! I'm sure this is not true. It can't be. Maybe its someone we don't know. Anyone aware of other Norwegian producers?!

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
I'm afraid you may be disappointed. They will definitely have a few EDM songs in there. I wouldn't rule out collaborations with Rihanna, Beyonce, Calvin Harris or Nicki Minaj.
